The deepest thing about the plot twist last episode was that eren literally IS the attack titan. The characteristics of the attack titan to keep moving forward is literally Eren's will. He made all the past Inheritors act that way that is to keep moving forward so he reaches this point. You are right. Eren literally has control of the narrative.
But the Attack Titan started with Ymir. Titan memories involving it are a two-way street. It's possible Ymir's thirst for freedom influenced Eren instead.
@@tylerfuller-battles8370 or the other way around
The attack titan was born from the deep will of yimir she wanted freedom after all but never could.
or maybe eren is the devil that gives titan's power to ymir
Nope
That is straight up wrong
In 2013 all people feared was the day the Titans would break down the walls
It’s 2022, that fear never left

it gets better, the year you first saw titan is in 2013, its now at the end of story in 2022, 9 years apart, each titan for a year
Once again humanity is defeated by the Titans
Guys... you're just misunderstanding Eren. He's ending racism.
People can't be racist, if there's only one race. *¯\_(ツ)_/¯*

@@djolerajic7043 Well i guess he just plans to target everyone and thing outside of paradis, if you're behind the colossal titan rampage then you're fortunate. He doesn't really have fine tuning to pick out the non paradisians to kill.
Not really.
You see, do you remember that chapter of Fairy Godparents show where Timmy Turner wished for all people be equal? (you know: gray color, no-shape-body dough-like) After that wish became true, some "people" still being racist with other, having as argument "my gray color is "more gray" than yours" (which it's ridiculous because its supposed that every single person has the same color and the same body-shape).
This is the same thing.
Maybe after some decades, Eldians will live in peace...until they fall in the same stuff: They'll become racist to each other. It's like a vicious circle

Eren Jaeger is basically Ymir’s yearning for freedom personified. They’re one and the same. Eren and the Attack Titan both represent her will and defiance against the world. That’s why the Attack Titan has a will of it’s own. It’s her will.
It doesn’t change the fact that it is talk no jutsu and it is bad writing
@@jacksond9297 yea thats true
the 9 titans as a
representation of ymir
founder - ymir is the founder, has all of her

attack - desire to be free
armour - desire to protect, ie fritz
beast - dehumanisation, how ymir feels
like she is below other humans & a tool
just like animals

ymir is a tool ('instrument') + quadruped

specific MALE titan
colossal - ymirs rage and an 'invincible'

@redwill17 To add to that, Ymir is just sick of this bullshit, she wants to be free from this.
Imagine being a slave despite being the strongest entity to ever live even after death. You can see it how tired she was when creating the collosal titans to build the walls...
To the person saying it was talk no jutsu, JUST IMAGINE HOW RELIEVING IT WAS WHEN FINALLY AFTER ALMOST AN ETERNITY THERE WAS SOMEONE WILLING TO HELP YOU OUT OF THIS SITUATION.
We can also see how Zeke commanded her whilst Eren begged and only wished for her power, he said "This is your choice" leaving all the possibilities on her hands, not by any royal blood or some shit. It's true it's messed up, but her decision is still justified. She was never able to live a fulfiling life and it's truly unfair you can see it on her eyes how sad and angry she was to the world, just like Eren.
The fact that you can transfer the powers by eating a shifter AS A HUMAN makes a lot of sense if you think about it. It's just so fucked up that you don't think about it.
I expected her Death and being Eaten. But I DIDN'T EXPECT TO SEE HER ARM BEING CHOPPED LIKE IT'S SQUID GAME OR PORKY'S WAREHOUSE.
It’s much worse in the manga
The way u worded it just.. nvm
If only our boys knew it in season 3, they could have the beast and armored titan then, since they wouldn't have to reach to Levi to get the serum.
@@unotwotriquatre yeah but Armin and Erwin where too weak to eat hard spine meat. Maybe Erwin could have eaten a portion but light not have been enough to become a Titan shifter. Remember Reiss and his weird deformed Titan.
Eren is what is frequently described as an anti-villain, as opposed to an anti-hero.
What he's doing is unforgivable, but you can 100% see what brought him to that point.
I really don't mind him doing this while a lot of people disagree. It's either the whole world kills them or he kills the whole world.
Yeah and it's even hard to call him a villain because I think most people if given those same 2 options would make the same choice as Eren.
@@phil-d-destroyer6224 yup I know i would.

@@JuliettKilo That sounds like "if I were you, I'd kill myself" and feels like you didn't really put yourself in his shoes. And killing yourself is easier said than done. But I'm not saying you're wrong or anything. It's your opinion. After all, the guy didn't really say "all people" nor "everyone would make the same choice".
This is my own understanding and opinion. Up to you if you feel like reading
From what I've known and seen in my life, Eren's mentality isn't far-fetched.
Imagine being branded as "devils" for generations and was sentenced to imprisonment in an island where giants eat you when you step outside. And let's not forget that they were once people and they were forced to turn into giants to kill and eat their own people. For generations which 99% of the population didn't even know they were being punished and imprisoned. Marleyans were literally taught that the people of Paradis weren't even people. This kind of scenario breeds rebels and extremists. That very real but unfortunately violent tendency to protect and keep to your people that becomes hostile towards the rest.
Marleyans were in the best position to make peace but here we are. All that hostility against the Eldians boiled over and was embodied in Eren. And the two people who had the power to change this is Zeke who wants to end a whole race of people and Eren who wants to end everyone else. It's like that moral question of choosing to save one person you know and is close to you or choosing to save a bunch of people you don't know and don't really care about.
Not to mention that Ymir who has been suffering for 2000 years (even more considering she's in the convergence) prolly created this Attack Titan to fight against all of it.
Note: Eren told Grisha to only leave the dad alive because Eren needed him to raise Historia, give her the royal title, then become a titan so Historia could kill him and cement herself as a good Queen for the people. All in order for him to be able to kiss her hand at that ceremony to see his father's memories of his own future memories to know everything that would happen.
This man is insane.
so eren is historia father
That's a bit of a stretch really, specially considering the ending. Well, actually it's logical to think this way.
Well as was stated in the episode he didn’t get the future memories of EVERYTHING but at some point did send back memories in time of the most key events that were to happened

@@TerraZetzz how? The colossal Titans will be rumbling everywhere.
The first time i read this in the manga i was speechless, now after watching the episode several times i'm speechless again, they did it perfectly. And i'm really happy that they didn't censured the cannibalism.
They kinda did though

They put the big shadow on details, they covered the tongue being cut out, Grisha decapitating Frieda was shown in less revealing angle... I don't mind, I'm not desperate for gore but the true uncensored scenes will be on Bluray
9:27 That's a main point of the whole story. Maybe old Fritz became a conquerer for revenge against some old grudge they had against Marley. Maybe that grudge stemmed from something Eldia did before. If you keep looking to the past for justification, you'll always find "reasons" to hate. Someone needs to look forward and leave the forest.
“”Maybe “”
@@wwe12153 Right. I'm not saying they did. The point is it shouldn't matter.
The cycle of hatred
"...look forward and leave the forest." Oh boi. You reminded me of Sasha's Dad.
Eren is acting off his own future memories. He activated The Rumbling because HE'D ALREADY SEEN IT. That's honestly the most tragic aspect about him: despite everything he's doing for freedom, he has no actual free will of his own.
its even more ironic in that the Aot universe works off a singluar timeline theory, this was always how it was going to happen even with the attack titan being able to look in the future and the other titans all being able to see the past, both the future and the past cannot and will not be changed by any character.
I think he still resisted and yet knew it couldn't be avoided. He's literally a slave to himself. Which is why we get these AU's that show other "Paths" Eren could've chosen. But, if all paths converge at one point, that being the coordinate, then the rumbling is inevitable. If that makes any sense.
@@solar7427 Exactly. The fact that he saw his own future means that it's already happened
Aot is genius writing. The irony of Eren being a slave to his dream of freedom.
I agree but I also think Eren genuinely wanted to do the rumbling, and seeing his future memories just set it in stone for him to go forward with it. It's like he said, he was born into the world so as long as he's there the rumbling would've happened either way.

@@kartikprabhu4719 Thanos killed less painful way, but Eren just squished people.
Fritz being a piece of shit in the end is perfect. Ymir being a slave is a truly fascinating reveal. Eren said he was like this since the day he was born, I'm going to speculate as an anime only that Eren is the personification of Ymir's desire for freedom. He was the only person out of the millions of descendants to inherit her desire for freedom. The attack titan was the only way to break the cycle she gambled that one day someone would break it and Eren did it
I forget where, but in at least one of the images of the devil, the Devil is wearing Eren's jacket.
I’ve always considered Fritz the true main antagonist of attack on titan even in death he is still responsible for the dark ages happening, a normal human with no titan powers but still the biggest monster ever
I just realized that first, the coordinate "tree" appears with just three paths, Maria, Rose, and Sina, and then throughout the episode there's more and more and in the end looks like a real tree.
The title makes sense because it’s Eren getting his message to free Ymir and pursue freedom and this episode he frees her. It’s like she called onto him to free her
Eren is Ymir's slave, basically :p
If you return back to S2's ending you'll see some pretty interesting things from this episode and that ending! In that ending it showed three girls and an older man eating the body of a person which in this episode it's revealed that it's King Fritz and his three children eating Ymir the Founding Titan! It also shows colossal titans stomping the earth and yet again at the end of this episode that's exactly what we see. In the book that (forgot her name exactly but its the founding titan Grisha ate) Historia is looking at you can see a devil giving Ymir a fruit like item and in that same S2 Ending you see exactly that. There is so much foreshadowing in this series and it's just brilliant.
I think Isayama himself provided the storyboards for the Season 2 ending theme.
@@ShinSuperSaiyajin indeed, hence why the ending spoilers several years before it was a thing
i head the studio had no idea why Isayama told them to make those story boards
The thing is, Eren has a very warped sense of freedom, as shown by the end of season 3 part 2, the beach scene. "If I kill everyone of our enemies, will we finally be free?" But when Eren realised that there were no bad guys, only people on both sides of the sea, he couldn't achieve that. He couldn't kill his enemies, because it was so much more complex than that. However, he decided to kill anyway, and achieve his form of freedom by killing both innocents and villains. This is shown in his conversation with Reiner, "I'm the same as you", where both of them decided to kill, against all morality, because it was for their dream. Reiner wanted to be a hero, and Eren wanted to be free.
Also, at the end of season 1, when Eren nearly ate Annie, he said, “I will destroy the world!”
It’s not that simple, eren gave marleyans a chance and confirmed that what he saw in the future is set in stone, he know it when he heard tybur’s speech, he know this is the only way out, saying that eren only wants to kill everyone in the world just for his vision of freedom it’s not understanding at all the story, it’s all predetermined, all of this is meant to happen
My issues is the politics of the rest of the world. That is what justifies Eren honestly. They all want to genocide the Eldians and aren't willing to compromise. So what then? Should Eren and the Eldians just wait to be wiped out? Even if they wait it out on the Island with the titans as a "Deturrent" nukes are close to being real and once that happens it's GG for Paradis. What Eren is doing is horrible, but still justified because the other "Side" is looking to do the exact same thing. It just doubles down on the idea that nobody is "Good" in AOT. Just different interests. Which is exactly like the real world. It's great.
@@maybeitsyou1317 yes, only the perspective matters, and everybody had justified reasons, so Eren saw only one solution at the end and I cant blame him for that
That sight of Maria, Rose and Sina eating Ymir will be give us nightmares. BTW... a reminder, Ymir being eaten by her 3 daughters have been shown in season 2 ED.

At 3:30 with everything you said, it's like you're going through the exact same thing that Armin and Mikasa are. Eren is our friend, he's the good guy, he must be doing this for a good reason.
You're right, Eren has not changed. He's the exact same as he was at the start of the show.
He's still the same traumatised kid saying he's going to destroy them all. Only difference is he now has the power to do so.

That creature ressembles a primitive lifeform called Hallucigenia, which lived 500 millions of years, during Cambrian period on Burgess Shale, Canada.
This is a very simbolic thing because Burgess Shale its known as the "Origin of Life", thanks for its vast biodiversity which brought all the actual lifeforms from all the entire planet. So...we can say Ymir "made contact" with the Very Beginning of Life, represented on Hallucigenia. In a "metaphorical way", Ymir found God itself

The connection from this episode and the very first episode of AoT is their episode titles. To further explain, Ymir sent out like a beacon of help, assuming from the Paths, to someone, which in this case, from her 2000 years ago, to Eren. If you remember the very first scenes of Episode 1, kid Eren was chilling under a tree when he suddenly sees flashes of memories that shockingly wakes him up. These memories ARE the beacon of help! He just didnt understand this yet. This is why in this episode, Eren tells Ymir how she led Eren here to the Paths, how she must have been waiting for someone to help her.
You NEED to go rewatch the S2 ED it actually gave away what happened 2000 years ago but without the context of her backstory there was no way to actually connect it unless you knew. It feels like an entirely new ED when you rewatch it knowing what happened.

Insane writer. I'm actually pissed that in the first episode they changed Eren's dream. It was supposed to be a dream from a future scene. Isayama is a genuis
The reason Eren is doing this is simple he's been backed into a corner and has no options left. This isn't so much about freedom per-say but survival. Paradis, with the walls, essentially has a massive nuclear arsenal while no one else does. This deterrence had worked in the past along with the titans on the island to keep people away. However with the age of titans is coming to a swift end and Marley needing to expand its natural resource base to have any hopes of fighting its technologically superior enemies. Paradise is on borrowed time unless something is done. This is why the initial attack on the island took place in the first place and was set to resume. Hence the pre-emptive attack by Eren in season 4 part 1. This however has only bought a few months at most and has now unified the world against paradis. This is a war paradise has no hope of wining. Eren has only one goal to protect the island and his friends. Essentially the scenario Eren and paradise is in is they have, in effect, a world ending nuclear arsenal. They could just end Marley and buy enough time to be able to fight conventionally when titans, even the rumbling, is eventually rendered obsolete by new weapons tech, which is Armin's plan. However the fatal flaw is that this would only create peace for at most a generation or two. And it would take time for paradise to modernize. So the titan's power would still have to be passed down. Requiring the sacrifice of Historia and her children. All having to eat each other every 14 years. And ultimately, wouldn't work anyway as paradis could never become strong enough on its own to fight off the world by conventional means. The island would be destroyed all the same just in 50 years at most instead of months. As such Armin's plan is a pipe dream that will not work. However just eliminating parts of marley wouldn't stop the rest of the world from coming back. So Eren's only hope is too kill everyone at once. The worlds hatred is just too intense to not require total analiation otherwise a war of revenge would eventually break out. And we'd be back at everyone being killed. And with Eren's time nearing its end (14 year thing) he has to act now and has to essentially launch all the nukes at once. Otherwise the island will eventually be destroyed and the practice of child eating parent to pass on the titan powers would continue. Something Eren abhors hence his anger and refusal when this discussion took place in the flashback's in part 1 of season 4.
Spoiler
He already failed , because he only does 80% of rumbling and left paradise Island to its Doom .

No. That was a memory from Grisha. Not Eren.
@@hawkxlr Difficult to say, it could be either really.
AJ, what we just witnessed, that right there, is the epitome of storytelling. Isayama stay GOATED for writing one of the greatest stories ever told. The Rumbling.. has finally started. There is no going back from this. All the walls in Paradis have crumbled. There are no walls in Attack on Titan anymore. 2000 Years in the making. Let that fact sink in. And to think there is more to come. From episode 1 "To You, in 2000 Years" to "From You, 2000 Years Ago" finally came to light and is in the books of history. Unreal.
The series is showing us that in this world, every decision is in a morally gray area and that it only depends if its bad or not on the people’s perspective.
We got the Eldian story, the Marleyan and now the true story of everything
Eren is like Ymir in a sense. Marley view Ymir as a Devil and Eldia view her as a god. Now Eren is the Devil who will flatten the world to Marley but at the same time he’s Eldias Savior.
Loved that the full version of the OP: Rumbling - Came out today of all days. Bravo.
Shows that any motivation when taken to the extreme, even a benevolent one can turn a person into a monster.
This episode was nothing other than incredible. The moment all we manga readers have been waiting for. Iseyama is truely the goat
Hajime Isayama is a writing genius... on the topic of Eren's hero/villain debate... I am with Eren, and this episode has set that in stone unless in the last 17 chapters (this ep adapted 122th chapter if I'm not mistaken). Eren is definitely not a hero, but he is not a pure villain he is an neccessary evil to make this miserable world the least miserable for him and the Eldians, Zekes' plan might have been the best for the whole world but Eren could not simply bow down and peacefully give his life for the world, he wants freedom, but is it true freedom... Attack on Titan is a masterpiece... also there are a few times in past seasons where scenes from Ymir's backstory sprinkled as quick flashes which is even more cool... amazing video as always
Eren is meant to be understood, not rooted for. The show is his journey to becoming a villain. It's a tragedy about him. I don't think it's a debate whether he's a hero or a villain. He is a villain, but the type you can understand what led him to what he is. Amazing writing from Isayama
“Anyone can become a god or a devil, all it takes is for people to believe it”.
Villian?
@@Omega-dj9sh Yes Eren is a villain
No he isn’t a genius, no genius such a bad ending and a bad ending arc , i think you didn’t read the manga , but eren didn’t do it because it is the only way , he did it because he liked the scenery of the rumbled world when he saw his father’s memories , it is in his nature, eren is just a cartoonishly evil character

Episode 21/5: From You, 2,000 Years Ago
8:21 I love how mad he gets at King Fritz here
Eren is either a villain or a hero depends on what side of the world you are on
Not really. He was still the villain in the eyes of a lot of people on paradis. Everyone who didn't want to live off a massacre thought of him as a villain.
Yes there was no other way. And yes we will see how this will end. Eren could've removed all of their titan powers of the shifters yet he gave them a chance to fight him.
Just wanted to tell you to keep up the goated content, I really love your reactions on my favorite animes 👍
"she must have actually loved him" bro caught on so soon
AOT is real as it get. You said "twisting & turning made me flip opinion constantly & it really resemble life". I agree 100%. What a world we live in.
The real villain in this story is human cruelty.
When Ymir caught the arrow for King Fritz as he said the words that the mere spear wont kill her, Ymir lost her will to live. The same case Reiner had back in the s4 part 1.
Your reactions are great in all honesty
I think she either took the spear to free herself (worked out great 👍) or she just never knew anything else than serving and being useful to others
If the anime plans on having the same ending as the manga, then there's still at least 16 chapters left to animate. Each chapter is around 50 pages (I could be wrong about that since I haven't read it since the last chapter from last year). But there've been theories saying the anime's gonna have a different ending either because Isayama planned it or a lot of people thought the ending was "horrible." (I say that in quotation marks because I thought the ending was decent.)
There's a rumour that the ending will be made into a movie
Lol I love how surprised you are I'm giving this a like
Your entire reaction summed up “WHAT THE FUCK!!!” Lol same reaction I had
I got chills!!!!!! Goosebumps overload!!!! Eren yow!!!!
Tatakae!!!!!
"i'll destroy the entire world" - eren s1
Erin is the personification if the Japanese song Kagome, He's a bird trapped in a cage...
He's just making sure there's no bricks left to build any more walls...
Ymir’s powers were split into the 9 titans. We’ve known this for a long time. But what we learned these past few episodes is that the attack titan is the embodiment of Ymir’s will to be free. Because the attack titan inherits future memories, every user has always moved towards freedom. Because their will was Eren’s will to move forward. Eren influenced every user of the attack titan to get to this point. He is the embodiment of Ymir’s will, and that will IS the attack titan.
Who even hate eren..we understand him totally..how he has been through..even he decide to destroy everything..we will still support him.
Eren said it best in episode 79. “Before I allow anyone to take my freedom, I will rob them of theirs”
"This looks like the apocalypse" BOY IT IS WORSE. ITS THE RUMBLING
hallucigena equipped plot armor ymir: it's super effective! for 2000 years even!
wow you are the only youtuber who pause and react to whats is going on and follow the serie and give your opinion and follow
but the rest of youtubers are only reacting to this because of the views
What is wrong is that eren is acting with ymir exactly like king fritz with ymir using her powers to kill their enemies.
i laughed my ass off when he said "she must have loved him"
It's insane how even in freaking season 2 the ending was already spoiling all of this and nobody realized what was going on or thought it was just symbolism, this anime is fking mental
Fun fact about the cannibalism scene, the anime censored it. Heavily.
Eren is one of those people who can't understand the limits of their own thinking. Like Floch told him at the end of season 3 at the funeral - in his core he thinks he's always in the right. Nothing he does could deter him from his extremely nebulous and undefined idea of freedom. I know in the manga it's... explained... but so far in the show he is literally the spoiled brat he's always been accused of being.
Yup nailed it my dude. I love Eren, but that's the character Isayama was going for. A childish person with a blind conviction.
You did not read the manga and still say this.....you really did not understand a thing. There is no brat here. You gotta do better when watching a smart anime.
@@cristinarociu1575 I did read the manga and it didn't make a lick of sense.
@@cristinarociu1575 right
"This looks liks the f-ing apocalypse"
Why it is!
To me, king fritz is the true villain of the series.
There is a connection between this and episode 1, but it is very subtle. Why was Eren crying in episode 1? Think about that with this episode in mind and you might find an answer. Although to my knowledge there is no explicit correct answer.
The anime changed the first scene. You should read it in the manga. It actually makes much more sense than the random flashbacks he got. He sees the future.
@@amberxv4777 I have read the manga, but I don't like referencing it to anime only people. I structured my comment specifically to avoid any manga only content. That is why my comment was so vague.
The weird thing you're talking about with all the people being in the paths is I think the founders' true power unleashed, basically now eren has full access to the founders' power. I know you're confused because this is the only time the anime has shown us the founders' power being used but the story has already told viewers that the power had been used in the past (I believe it was Ymir) back in the previous seasons.
This episode is adapted perfectly. Even as a manga reader, This episode left me speechless so I can only imagine the surprise as an anime-only watcher. The anime just hits different.
there's definitely another plot twist that turn the tide
"this look like the foking apocalypse"
Well yes but ....yeah yes everything is yes
It is the apocalypse. Eren is serious about ending the world.
I cant see Eren as a Villain, yes his actions are questionable but we know how he got to that point.
In the story we have seen so many bad things everybody did, so I think its wrong to call Eren as an villain. The perspective matters, and Zekes plan was also a genocide, is it better? no, why we should root for Zeke? He also wanted to use Ymir and saw her as an slave. Only Eren understands her as a human.
Eren wants to protect paradies, so after all the hatred from the outside world it is understandable. His actions are maybe wrong but he is not somebody that deserves the hate - and yes I am a manga reader.
Commits mass genocide*
“I can’t see Eren as a villain”
