"Memories of the Future" - Розваги
I will be proccessing this episode easily till next sunday lol! Don't forget to stay up to date with all things dapper over on twitter! - twitter.com/DapperDarius
Ok... here how Eren was able to "manipulate" the past.
He has 3 perfect condition to do so.
1)The attack titan which enables to send memories to past users which enables users to see glimpse of the future.
2) The Founding Titan powers, which enables to go into the paths to enter the memories.
3) Touch someone with Royal Blood to use the Founding Titan.
So while they are in the memories of Grisha Yeager, Eren was sending Grisha the memories in real time as a two way communication. Whenever Grisha seen Zeke... Eren was behind Grisha... so he was seeing Zeke through Eren's POV in the path. So it's not actually time travel, but more memory manipulation.
You're right about the Harry Potter and prisoner of askaban, it is the same as in this case, AoT.
Which means Attack on Titan from the beginning the story and the future has been set in stone.
Next episode title was similar to Episode 1 😱
Also, the reason for his dramatic personality change from the earlier seasons was that he wanted to be free from everything and not be confined physically or mentally. When he touched Historia (royal), he unlocked memories of critical moments in the past and future and came to know that he was always destined to set his people free, which is what he wanted. But at the same time, he was confined to that destiny and had no free will of his own.
Things still have to play out. If the memories of those dwelling in that realm gave opportunity to warn someone living in present that’s a good thing. I’m betting on humanity. Notice humanities will and potential have been taking a backseat since Eren no longer represented that character anymore. But if you notice the show gives little glimpses of humanities new powers against the titans in aaaall the inventions since the beginning of the series. From the gear, to the rockets they throw, to the nuclear bombs shown quickly, the powerful countries they showed 👀, even things like the cannon. (They are not just showing it to be cool) Humanity has grown and the world has changed outside the walls. If there’s a rumbling trust this time humanity will handle themselves very well and maybe that’s what we need. A balance of power. Vs the titans. EREN WILL HAVE HIS WAY BUT IT WONT GO HOW HE PLANS. Yes Eren humanity misusing titan power to murder for outdated blind reasoning has to stop, And humanity needs equal footing so there can be peace. But what your not going to do is kill the entire world . Have several seats Eren calm the held down
Zeke: "You were brainwashed by our father."
Grisha: "Actually, Eren brainwashed me."
Eren: "It was more of a 'suggestion'"
This comment is gold lmao
goat comment right here
u know that the episode is crazy when there is no huge fight, but still insane
Bruh with this show freaking episodes like this might be more intense lol.
@@RDJVRLDN yeah the episode with Reiner and Eren in the basement, the reiner/bertholt reveal, the basement reveal are all top tier aot episodes and they're all mostly dialogue.
@@TheLaprasMan Honestly, I might get flamed for this, but AOT was never at its best when it came to action, and it's ALL because of the scenes that you mentioned. I'm not hating on the action (of course that's one of the most phenomenal aspects about AOT), but when I think of AOT, I think of THOSE scenes which show what AOT is truly about, not just titan action.
@@skylerwhereisthemoney746 I agree. These kind of scenes are the true essence of AOT. The action scenes are just icing on the cake.
@@skylerwhereisthemoney746 exactly. For me aot has always been about its story rather than action. Only new watchers focus on action alone.
The fact that Grisha was actually talking to Future Eren in episode one is actually a game breaking moment changer for everyone.
My face was Zeke's that entire episode. I was just... so surprised.
Fun fact: In the Manga, Grisha was actually looking where future Eren was standing like he was in this episode. In episode 1, WIT did not include that, because they did not know the foreshadowing of that panel.
Isayama really had it all planned out from day 1.
I think Grisha was speaking to Eren ( The Owl) not Eren his son, cuz The owl Eren said the same things that Eren ( his son) said, its fucked up but i think thats who Grisha was originally talking and screaming to, was Eren the owl.
@@SirGhan0om I'm a manga reader. He's talking to his son.
@@SirGhan0om You have every element to understand. Eren can send his memories to people that had this titan before him, so he sent them to the Owl in the past and that is why the Owl says the same words. Eren doesn't say the words of the Owl, The Owl says the words of Eren, the ones from his memories that he showed to him.
The single greatest twist in fiction. 11 years in the making. And to think there is more to come.
"Memories of the Future" is easily of the best reveals out there. Eren told Isayama to write Attack on Titan.
and the next few episodes will most likely be 10/10 episodes too!
Idk, there were two huge twists that happened in the same month a while ago (9 years ago after looking them up) that both threw the anime/manga fandom for a loop.
In terms of the way it changes the readers perspective on the entire series I'd say the one in Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei wins out and for length the Ah! My Goddess twist changed 24 years of established character history.
Though while the Zetsubou-Sensei example runs shortest at 7 years it was a weekly manga unlike Attack on Titan and Ah! My Goddess which are both monthly.
🤣 that's right
@@Tylor_taichou eh
Basically, Eren was the author of all the events that has happened so far. He told Kruger to save Grisha. He motivated Grisha to kill the Reiss family. He told Grisha that he will show the basement to younger Eren.
He did everything. And controlled everyone.
how did he do it
@@greekalien6558 He can show whatever he wants to the past users of the Attack titan, but only his perspective until THIS moment
Eren was probably the owl too
@@AlejandroNovoaWorks also he unlocked all the past memories when he kissed Historia’s hand. It’s the perfect loophole
Ironic he wanted everyone to be free but enslaved the past Attack Titan inheritors to satisfy he’s goal
The past was never changed. Eren literally goaded his father to kill the Reiss family from the beginning. The only reason why we’re seeing it now is because Eren is allowing it to be seen, we’re looking at this from Zeke’s perspective after all.
Yep. This entire story exists on the foundation that Eren succeeded in doing 3 things:
1. Obtain the Attack Titan
2. Obtain the Founding Titan
3. Gain access to the coordinate through Zeke (or Historia, but that speaks to how much deep down, he's always wanted to protect his friends and comrades).
Once he succeeded in that, he was able to send the necessary messages for him to obtain those 3 things. It's an odd paradox/time cycle that he created for himself. Future Eren is basically the cause of everything that happens in the show. Hell, the fact the Attack Titan always seeks freedom even hints that maybe it was originally just a future message titan, but because Eren succeeded he sent memories that instilled his will of always fighting for freedom, similar to how King Fritz bound the Founding Titan to his will.
the maga readers are seeing it from erens perspecive
So in order to avoid any confusion regarding the time travel mechanics, I will break down what type of Time travel we're dealing with here.
AOT operates by a particular type of time travel where it's almost impossible to change the past even if you somehow go back in time. And any change that you tried to cause was always meant to happen in the overall timeline. Here time is a fixed circle, not a stream. We may see Eren meddle in the past but that was always meant to happen. This calls into the question of the existence of free will in the world of Attack of Titan.
The Attack Titan's ability is to receive the memories of its future inheritors. This was hinted when Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin towards the end of S3. Keep in mind, they can only view these memories but can't interact with them. So how was Eren able to meddle in the past?
Well, he had 3 perfect conditions:
1) He had the ability of the Attack Titan
2) The ability of the Founding Titan
3) He was also in contact with someone with royal blood AKA Zeke.
After Zeke tapped Eren's head, they were able to view Grisha's past memories with Eren using the power of the coordinate. They were freely able to view the past as if it were through a one way mirror.
Now if Eren had any other Titan other than the Attack Titan, he would only be able to look. But since Attack Titan can see forward in time, Grisha can use this to see Eren's recollection of the same event that he's currently experiencing in real time.
So this mean that whenever Grisha can see or hear Eren, he's actually recieving a brief future memory from Eren's POV where he can see out of his eyes and hear his words. That means he is seeing himself from a 3rd perspective. Then if he responds, his response is simply part of the memory that Eren/Zeke are viewing, allowing for a two way communication through time.
Also Note that everytime, Grisha sees Zeke, Eren is always standing behind his dad. So whenever Grisha sees Zeke, it is from actually due to the memories from Eren's POV
I can't remember if this acc. is the one who created this thoughts but i'm happy it's on the comment section.
man you are everywhere... stop it.
It is not just almost impossible; it is straight up impossible to change the past. If someone from the future influenced the past, the past has always been that way to lead up to the future where they would influence the past.
@@kafkahesse2606 It's actually different guys every time, but the same comment from reddit/imgur.
@@jbsuselessopinion843 nah it’s not, this is from way back when the manga chapter of this came out like 2-3 years ago
Eren whispered in Isayama's ear and told him to write this story
On a serious note, it's really scary how Grisha, someone who was so anti-Marley and pro-Eldia, saw one glimpse of Eren's plan and was like, "Zeke. You have to stop him." Despite Grisha's hate for Marley and how far he was willing to go, even HE thought his plan was too far. He was genuinely horrified. Whatever Eren's plan is, Grisha does not want it to happen.
Speaking of, Zeke and Grisha finally getting to work out their issues and hug each other in a moment of pure love is really heartwarming. Grisha understood his mistakes when raising Zeke before. Instead of only treating him as a tool, he treats him as his son. Zeke is finally able to take his first step towards closure after years of trauma. Even if they had their differences, Grisha and Zeke can at least agree with one thing: Stopping Eren.
Yes Erens plan is so fucked up that even Grisha was shocked whose only aim is to destroy Marley
Eren plan it's literally the most fucked up thing you could do...
@@marti9734 more like the most based and sane thing you could do in this situation
@@razacosmicapilled eren actions make zeke and zeke plan seem sane.... killing the world isn't a sane action and neither killing infants and children or forcing people to do that lol. I understand why eren did it, I really do but that doesn't mean his actions has no weight or that they were "sane". He did an atrocity if it was more than worthy it can be discussed but still genocide is genocide, a "sane" person could never have done that

Nah, I'm only watching them good quality ones.
@@Tacticaviator7 true true
Fun fact: In season 3 Grisha's memory, when he tried to stab himself in front of Raise's family, the stabbing action is not continuous, and there's a short black flash in the middle of it. That's a hint that Grissha actually changed his mind at the beginning, a hint for this episode.
Yes, and also a major indicator that Eren definitely didn’t know he was going to be the one convincing Grisha to do the murdering. This was a spur of the moment decision on Erens part that completed the “loop”. It’s a decision Eren will always make. Seeing a lot of people here who think Eren planned this all like he can see the future. He can’t see his future, only the memories of future inheritors. Nor did he know of his fathers memories until this moment (aside from the fragments Historia and Reiss showed him)
The story never shows this, but at this point it's pretty possible that Eren manipulated every single Attack Titan in history.
Successors of Attack Titan kept moving forward not because of Attack Titan's some kind of chracteristic but because of Eren... Makes sense
He event stand behind Isayama and alway manipulate him to write this whole strory. That insane!
Well me personally believed that he siding need to touch any at until after the great titan war when fritz of the walls took the eldians to paradie. It was then that the opposing ideology needed from king fritz needed to be battled thru the at through eren. Also s3 part 2 implies that Marley had the at for at least a little while after the war but then went missing per eren
SPOILERS
Wasn't it because of Ymir? She created the Attack Titan, after all. She wanted to be saved by the last AT shifter, by Eren, she wanted him to defeat the whole titan power and to set her free. Like Eren said, she was waiting 2000 years for someone to finally show up in Paths and help her. The Attack Titan was her tool, created to always rebel against the royal family. She was still a slave, but she created this titan shifter in hope that someday it will help her achieve freedom. That's why she needed so much someone so focused on fighting for freedom like Eren.
Fun fact: Grisha said “Eren, is this what you wanted?” back on season 3, but we all assumed he was talking about Krueger, but no, he was talking about OUR Eren!!!
what ep?
Ohhh shiiitttt, during the wall scene? That’s fucking crazy
Isayama GOT
Yeah right, me thinking the same thing back then
which ep was this?
Two key things to keep in mind (non spoiler):
1) Eren can not directly see "into the future" here, its just a result of overlapping instances of talking to a past owner of the Attack Titan. When he kissed Historia's hand, he saw himself fucking with Grisha, which we then see happen here. So, in a round about way, Eren saw the future, but its not as direct.
2) When Eren kissed Historia's hand, he didn't see the entire future. He just saw what was left of Grisha's memory of killing the royal family, which included whatever this-episode-Eren told him. At this point, Eren may know far more, but back then and up until the connection with Zeke, Eren only knew he would go about this far.
This clears things up alot. I understood how eren was able to comunicate to grisha, but i didn't understand how S3 eren was able to see the future when he kissed historia, so thanks for clarifying
Basically, Since Grisha has Erens future memories, what Present Eren is doing in present time is altering Grishas memories of Erens futures memories. So when Eren was telling his dad to stand, its basically erens future memories that was in Grisha.
Grisha is seeing himself constantly in third person through Erens POV (his memories). He sees Zeke through Erens POV that's why Eren always stands behind Grisha when Grisha sees Zeke.
The timeline is fixed that means everything is supposed to happen is fixed and nothing can change that.
When Eren kissed Historia, he unlocked his dads memories which also included his own future memories and that is why he was shook. Eren basically sees fragments of his own future but not all of it. Same with Grisha, he only sees parts of Erens future in fragments.
As you said its a full circle moment and everything is fixed and altering the past wont change anything. Really insane episode
well put together into words
Ty for this bro
This also explains why Eren has been caught slacking a few times. Sasha's death (although his laugh may have indicated he was shocked that the future memory was real), gabi decapitating him, pieck betraying him and galliard coming to her rescue, and so many other times Eren was surprised about something. But, he does know some memories, which is why the attack on Marley was so successful. I'm sure if he actually knew all of the future, he would have met with zeke way earlier and carried out his plan even before so that zeke didnt have to make the paradis island citizens into titans or risk his friends dying.
put some respect on invaderzz which gave you this insight
@@EpicProDudeOfAwesome ikr man truly saved what was left of the Aot community, after the ending.
Eren is pulling one of the best plot twits in anime history right here! Zeke may have outsmarted Eren's outsmarting, but Eren outsmarted Zeke's outsmarting to Eren's outsmarting!!!!!!
They're playing Chess in another dimension.
There is a reason why we weren't shown Grisha's face when he showed Eren the key in the first episode. Isayama was keeping that until this very moment
In the manga his face was shocked (like in this episode), but wit cut that out. Chapter 1
@@samanthagalicia6151 guess I have to check that

Grisha's VA ladies and gentlemen,

he NAILED IT this episode!
He ALWAYS delivers. His performance in Zeke's flashback and in this episode are some of the best in the series
Goat VA
Now for the ones wondering why later on Grisha gives Eren his Titan even when he says that zeke should stop Eren it is because Grisha didnt show that Carla would die. My man grisha looked dead inside when later on kid Eren told him that carla was eaten which lead to Keith's bystander story. Grisha immediately took eren to the forest where he gave his titan to him. Looks like his hatred for Marley was reignited due to Carla's death
My comment is just speculation because the anime and manga never goes to detail why Grisha gives his titan to Eren in the future when he tells Zeke that he should stop Eren. This looks like some plot hole but based on the information and hints from the episode and manga, Grisha up to the point of killing the reiss family says to Zeke that he should stop Eren because he saw Eren's future memory which he describes as terrible. Now this is a man that hesitates to kill the reiss family because of the kids which he quotes "i am a doctor, i save lives not take them". Now we can assume that the terrible thing he saw of the future would be the rumbling, basically mass genocide. For the current Grisha this is unthinkable that Eren plans to do these so he begs Zeke to stop him.
So why would he, after that incident return to shiganshina, give his titan to Eren? Grisha in this episode and in the manga questions Eren why wont he show everything? The walls being destroyed, and IF CARLA IS SAFE? We can assume that Eren didnt show Grisha the memory of Carla being eaten by the titan. He only knew Carla is dead when kid Eren told him later on when Grisha arrived at the refuge center with Keith. After he learns that Carla is dead, you can literally see his dead asf eyes and tells Eren to avenge Carla which can literally mean entrusting the future of eldia to his son. The hints are shown at the flashbacks.
This is the only plausible reason why Grisha would suddenly support Eren rather than Zeke in the future.
@@ramenshoyu3873 also Grisha's term was about to end
@@gll447 I don't recall this information. Is that really so?
@@ramenshoyu3873 not sure if you read the manga so I want to avoid spoilers...
Your explanation is plausible.. but another explanation is that he saw the whole future, and knew that the only way for their people to survive is by Eren having the titans.
I mean they wouldve been screwed 100 times over if he didn't have it ie. Trost, returning to shiganshina etc.
He probably saw it as inevitable
@@Kitkat-qp3pv Its true. Eren was around 10 years old when he ate Grisha and became a titan. And Grisha lived a few years in the walls before Eren was born, so his 13 year lifespan was just about to runout.
"Let's show the basement"
For the child Eren, the basement of Yeager's house
For future Eren, the basement of the Reis house
Two meanings
In other words, Isayama is genius
“Err.. have I been to here before?” Eren, S3E6
“I was lucky enough to be the only survivor from the massacre.” Rob Reiss, S3E6
“If you want to save Mikasa, Armin and everyone else, you must complete your mission.” The Owl, S3E21
“My hand can still feel the way that my dad massacred the royal kids.” Eren, S4E19
The biggest plot twist finally revealed. Grisha, from the very beginning, was never “the real one” to kill the royal family. Some ppl may think Eren changed the past or time travel, no he didn’t, his manipulation to Grisha was included in the past. Neither past nor future could be changed in AOT. It has a fixed timeline.
And the the attack titan ability, it actually does not foresight the future. It can receive brief memories from the future inheritor. How Eren knows his own future is the adult Eren sends memories back to his father, then when young Eren touches any royal, the memories will kind of unlock, so young Eren can see his future self from his father memories. Also the freedom seeking will from AT, is from Eren as every AT shifter follows will of the last AT.
Some of y’all should understand that some of the questions he’s asking, he’s looking for answers through the show. If you’ve read the manga, you’re more likely to end up mixing in spoilers than not (even if it’s unintentional). it’s better to just let these anime-only viewers ask until the show is completed.
I like reading comments cuz they're enriching and hilarious but hate coming across huge unrequested spoilers hahha. Obsessed with the story tho.
Bump
My favorite meme to come out of this episodes is Eren going: “What do you mean ‘daddy issues?’ just traumatize your father back.”
In the first episode, "To You 2000 Years From Now", the anime did not show Grisha's face when he showed Eren the key to the basement.
In manga, Isayama drew Grisha’s face and he was definitely looking at strange direction.
These facts mean Grisha was already looking at future Eren in episode 1!! GOD ISAYAMA
Darius、日本でいつも動画楽しみにしています🇯🇵!I’m always looking forward your new video from Japan❤️!
I just double checked AOT chapter 1 and you're right, holy moly. He was looking in adult Eren's direction! It's crazy that Isayama had this all thought out in 2009 - even the smallest details!
wow, just wow. this is cinema, pure cinema..
Eren didn't forge the moment grisha killed the family, he simply showed zeke what he did to help influence grisha down the path. eren was being genuine when he said he was disgusted at grisha's behavior but not the monologue about freedom grisha made. the fact that grisha didn't stab himself with his own will is what eren referred to in his conversation with zeke in marley.
To explain the future memories bit, the power of the Attack Titan is the power to send memories from its future inheritors back to its past inheritors. That makes it unique from other Titans which can only see memories from the past. The thing with the future memory transfer is that you can't send future memories back to your past self, since the AT only has to power to send the future memories to its past inheritors. There's a loophole, however, which Eren has exploited. If you send future memories to a past inheritor, and then unlock the past memory of that inheritor seeing those future memories, you see your own future memories.
Grisha isn't actually seeing Eren. He's seeing himself in the 3rd person from Eren's pov, thus hearing what Eren is saying. It's the same with Zeke, Grisha only sees Zeke when Eren is directly looking at Zeke. When Eren kissed Historia, he unlocked the last of Grisha's memory of Future Eren sending him the future. Thus Eren learned of events which would occur in the future.
In the manga, in the first chapter, when Grisha is holding the key to the basement, and he tells Eren that he will take him down there one day, he isn't looking at Child Eren.
When you get to the chapter in the manga where this event takes place, you can see him looking at Adult Eren, it's crazy.
I have waited so long for this to be adapted. One of my favorite chapters from the series.
Watch episode 1 again bro..look where Grisha is looking while he's showing the key.
Bro bust a fat one when the to be continued slide showed up 💀
From my experience, when people say the world, they're not neccesarily talking about the planet. It's usually referring to society, civilization and/or a group's way of life.
Turns out the three little warriors werent as bad as we thought. This is what they wanted to prevent
@Funnycat 77 I think Eren would have been the same probably after seeing his father’s memories from season 3. Yes, his mother’s death affected him, but his goal has always been absolute freedom, so whether Carla is dead or alive, Eren is still the same person.
The sound effects rarely get praise or criticism but it felt like I was in a cinema, especially at the end when it showed Eren kissing the hand of Historia.
That's like the first time I watched your reaction and now I'm fully committed to watch it all, you seem really smart and perceptive
Grisha doesnt actually see zeke and eren. He sees erens memories (Attack Titans ability to see future holders memories) For example when he stares at eren at the door (Where he shows the key to kid eren) He actually sees himself through erens memories. And he sees zeke through erens memories too.
And he does not hear eren talking to him. He sees in eren memories that eren talked to him. He does not actuallu hear him. There is no time travel.
10:14 The world of AoT has only one timeline. What has already happened can’t be changed, same for the future.
Also re watch bystander from s3 part 1 if you can after this
Every reactor's thumbnail on this episode is like this: O_O. And we still got more to go xD.
Fun fact, in the current AoT 9 years has passed as to same here in real time that 9 years have passed from scene in ep 1 to the scene in where Eren and Zeke watching
9:48 No it didn't change. That's how it always was. The universe of AoT is a fixed timeline, where face and destiny don't exist, things are already meant to happen but not because of fate but because that's what the characters want to happen. The rumbling will happen because Eren had the WILL and the means to make it happen.
So we got the founder shifters who's being controlled by the king's will and has no freedom really and then there's the attack titan shifters who are being controlled by future users who basically have no freewill of their own. Gotta love the ways everything is connected in this series.
No. Only eren can manipulate all 3000+ attack titans through history. He has the founding Titan power, but zeke controls it. SPOILERS!!!
once eren convinces Ymir to help him, he becomes a god and has full control over the past, present, and future of every eldian throughout history. Aka he manipulates every attack Titan in history to end up where he is right now. However, he can’t do this with the founding Titan alone, he is allowed to do this because he’s special… he’s special because he has the founding Titan AND the attack Titan. Only In this incredibly rare instance is he allowed to manipulate all attack titans through history. He couldn’t do that if he didn’t have the attack Titan, and only the founding.
When you realized you've been watching a villain's origin story up to this point🤣
So you remember how Eren said he was disgusted when he saw the scene with his father killing those kids? He wasn’t disgusted with his father. He was disgusted with himself.
Zeke: "eren, let's see the next memory to prove you that I'm right"
Eren: "meh, already watched that episodes too"
Grisha isn't actually seeing Zeke directly but as Eren's memory of that moment. Notice how Eren positions himself during those times, always behind Grisha looking at Zeke. And in that basement key moment, Grisha isn't seeing Eren but he is seeing himself dangling that key. very very trippy.
Been waiting for this episode and the next one to get animated from the manga for soooo long!
9:40 you actually pointed that out very good! I love your reactions cause youre a big brain that really picks on to stuff!
The Future is set. The past inheritor can see the memories of the futures inheritors, so this kinda proves that the future has already been decided before it happened and that it cannot be changed.
4:00 LMAO I think we all stop what we're doing to jam out to the banger of a theme song.
Interesting detail, that Grisha put scalpel through his hand, because he took his sister outside the Walls with this hand, and "started this story" (Eren speech here also identical to owl speech in 3x21)
That’s waffle
Adding this you can notice way back grisha talking about the key, he's face looking to adult eren while talking about giving the key to eren
finally someone notice the "scarf's moment" like me, the way eren look at the scene is 🙁
and also you can connect the Kruger moment with mentioning mikasa and admin
Gonna wait for the patreon full length version!!! ahh fuck my brain this episode was insane, isayama is a genius!
Great reaction, this episode is just amazing 10/10
*Anyone confused with how the Eren manipulated Grisha can check it out :-*
The Attack Titan has the ability to look into the future. This means that Grisha saw Eren viewing his memories in the future with Zeke. By that logic, Grisha saw himself through Eren’s eyes. This means that when Grisha actually went to retake the Founding Titan, he already saw these certain scenes through Eren.
Im japanese.I'll explain the situation in a nutshell.
The Attaking Titans can look into the memories of their future successors. So when Grisha is being spoken to by Eren, he is being inspired as he watches himself through Eren's memories. And the reason why she was able to recognize Zeke's figure was also because she was able to see him through Eren's memories. So, from a third person's point of view, Grisha looks like a strange person who is talking alone.
I'm Japanese and watched the last episode of manga, but the next episode [from you 2000 years ago] gives me goosebumps more than this time.
11:38 still crazy to think if someone else was there watching this scene play out in the past they would see a man hugging thin air since hes only seeing zeke cause of the memory hes seeing in the future which is eren standing there with zeke. crazy
i love how you asked what eren thought of that moment when he wrapped the scarf around mikasa
I knew this was gonna blow up as soon as i read it in the manga back in 2019
12:15 You basically described the paths where Eren and Zeke are right now XD
This episode is crazy. I already know next episode is gonna be CRAZY.
6:04 That dudes foreshadowing was really amazing. You could see things of season 4 part 1 in the dream Eren got in the very first episode. Like he had all that stuff planned already. Ending 2 also got so much foreshadowing on whats about to happen next episode, thats crazy.
Eren is telling Isayama, what to write. HE'S THE MANGAKA! Also, damn, that Grisha scene was good.
I think we all feel that way when we see “to be continued…”

Just look at the name of season 1 episode 1 "To You, 2000 Years from Now"
it is a epic episode of anime history. the past present and future, these are all connected. it is not always going back to the past. once eren convinced grisha, it is effect to the future at the same time. it is really well shown us how all connected the past, present and future.
12:00 mans nutted at the cliffhanger LMAO
i've been waiting for this for SO LONG
Grisha is seeing Erens memories/perspective in this episode if you notice whenever Grisha notices Zeke or Eren, Eren has the same field of view as Grisha, so moments like when Grisha is holding the key or when Eren convinces him to take the Founding poor Grisha is seeing himself in the third person like a out of body experience
Insane episode.. Crazy
The implication here is mind-blowing. We’ve just seen Erin manipulate his dad using the coordinate, and scenes throughout this episode make it clear that Erin can even make it possible for other people to be interacted with from within the coordinate (like Zeke being seen and hugged) if he wills it.
If Erin can do that to his dad - he can do it to every inheritor of the attack Titan within the last 2,000 years, which is why I think the next episode is titled what it is.
Even more interesting is that if you look at the title of the first episode of season 1, it very clearly aligns with the upcoming episode, and the very first scene after the intro to season 1 episode 1 is of Erin waking up from a flood of memories he doesn’t even have yet, because he hasn’t inherited the attack Titan or the founding Titan yet - meaning Erin can also influence the pre-Titan version of himself from within the coordinate.
This entire last 2,000 years may have just been Erin working through the ages to arrive at this precise moment from within the coordinate - engineering an insane thousands-year butterfly effect that lead to the moment he and Historia touched hands at the end of season 3.
Can’t wait to see where the next episode goes, but I’m pretty sure we are just getting started with the impact Erin has had on the entire history of the Eldian bloodline.
"Aren't you the one who started this story?" BEST REVEAL EVER
bro that shirt is so fire where u get it?
great reaction too
12:01 R.I.P
At that scene,it was so intense, I almost thought Eren was gonna jump in his dad's body and do it himself.
the comparison of shingeki with prisoner of azkaban was amazing
There's people on twitter showing someone looks like future Eren in multiple occasion on season 1-3.
The Attack titan can see the future memories of its inheritors. But not on a third person perspective that we are seeing now. They see it in the perspective of the owner of the memory.
So basically Grisha in that cave can see himself through Future Eren's perspective memory.
Also the thing with Zeke, Grisha can see him most likely from future Eren's memory perspective. Replay the episode, Eren was always in an angle where he can see Zeke when Grisha sees Zeke.
仰反る気持ちは分かるよ!
原作読んだ当初、自分も驚愕しました💦
me? Im just so hyped for the: "To you, from 2000 years ago"
😱😱😱🔥🔥🔥
Eren to his father:
*JUST DO IT!*
Eren to zeke:
*what's up now peasant?*
A bunch of people might not know it, but you’re honestly and definitely one of the best reactors out there.
Notice how Grisha can see Zeke when Eren is standing behind Grisha. Grisha sees the future through Eren's eyes, hence seeing Zeke. And yes, your theories are correct. This episode was meant to signify that Eren from the future (after this episode) was feeding Grisha memories of the future. Eren was seeing those past memories of the future when he kissed Historia's hand. So Eren knew that things were always meant to play out this way, and followed it.
Eren as the Founding-Attack Titan is able to transcend past, present, and future. As opposed to the Founding Titan alone, which can only see past and present. Eren's omnipotent Founding-Attack Titan manipulated the past to get to his goal. Example of this is diverting Dina from Bertholt to eat Eren's mom, ensuring Eren's hatred and letting Bertholt play his role. Also when Eren saw future memories in the first scene of the first episode. He did not have the Attack Titan yet, but those memories were still fed to him through his Founder. Other Eldians probably had episodes of weird dreams and future thoughts from the events that have yet to unfold.
12:08 - This whole episode can be summed up by this xD
12:04 Darius ascending, god tier episode
Just when we thought last week´s revelations were the pinnacle, we get this!!!! Who do we root for!!!???
Grisha: Zeke please stop Eren.
Oppenheimer: Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds
If he can see wren’s memories then he would have seen his mother dying so maybe that is what he is so flustered about because when he reconfirm his convictions he saw that memory so that is what drove him to kill everyone for him to think that he could save her by doing so.
i hope this helps in understanding the case, grisha's being influenced by eren before eren was even born, every decision made by grisha was controlled by eren
No, Eren was always the one who orchestrated everything. The past wasn't changed
This walk through Grisha's memories became a memory of Eren that he sent to him. This is why seeing Zeke in the basement seemed like a dream to him. It was the memory Eren sent him. Therefore all we see is a memory Eren sent to Grisha but memories actually happened... perfect memory-based time loop never seen before.
Can you imagine Grisham knowing the future and still going ahead to sacrifice himself to his son because it's already happened and can't be changed.
When I read the manga and found out the attack titan ability I damn near almost spoiled it for my boys who still in season 2
this is a good episode
I guess you can go 2 ways with time travel in AoT.
1. There was original timeline that led to Eren doing this
2. Eren created himself - making him a paradox
The betrayal Eren seen at the end of season 3, Grisha had future memories and said it out loud, Eren learnt about his future when he kissed Historia hand because of Grisha yelling and crying.
Mushoko reference nice
