I wear a lot of clay rings(i buy them), and some of my classmates start asking if I sell them, and my stupid mind went "Yeah I do," so now I'm forced to learn to actually make one.
This is a core memory. I remember making this when I was a kid with a recipe I found on youtube but just heating the mixture in a microwave. I still have the ones i made after more than a decade but kinda yellow’d. I didn’t add the white paint though.
Honestly this was great! I loved how u mentioned any and every alternatives we could use :) I was looking for polymer clay but they were so expensive. Love love love this.
You can also use a no cook method, only requires 3 things and they’re household items! It’s called salt dough : - 1/3 cup of water - 4/4 cup of flour - 1/3 cup of salt, I used epsom salt. Mix and knead together with your hands, add flour when sticky and add water if too hard. Use lotion to make it softer, refrigerate it for 1hour to harden, apply baby powder to your table to make it less sticky, apply baby oil on your hands for the first time of using. Apply baby oil or lotion to where you store it ( ex : cling wrap , ziplock bag ) so it doesn’t stick, you can also apply it to the mixing bowl so the clay doesn’t stick when making! PS. It takes A LOT of time to dry, I must say 1-3 days, but the clay does have a chance of molding when not put in the refrigerator, or the hardened clay too when you don’t apply some sealer into it or a waterproofing solution ( ex : clear nail polish , varnish , etc )
Yes although this one tends to have little white spots on it and *fun fact* if you cook it without the baby lotion and the stuff u can’t eat it will in fact become a breadish texture u can eat
Add a tablespoon of vinegar, lemon or lime juice to keep mould away. You can also bake salt dough on the lowest oven temperature. If you add glycerin to the mix, it is also anti bacterial and makes it silky smooth. Ideally cook the ingredients as there is a chemical reaction with the flour when it;s heated. I've made this as sensory clay and even added essential oils to it. Lavender is great for children. Stick some glitter in for Christmas decorations. For a sealer, I'd recommend Modge Podge. They even do an outdoor sealer. Children love to make hanging chimes for the garden.
I just ordered air Dry clay and I've been so anxious since every other video ive seen uses those fancy polymer clay brands (which are very expensive where I live!!!!) This video has been a lifesaver. I'm so happy to see how wonderful these air dried turned out and how they look exactly like the ones I've seen in other tutorials. I've ordered a whooping 500 grams so once I've worked through that I'm definitely making my own clay as well. Thanks a bunch!!! Ps. You're literally so pretty and have the sweetest voice im-?

Hello! This video was super helpful, but i just had a few questions. Is the pot/pan still cleanable or is it ruined? Question 2: can I paint the clay after it drys, or does the clay have to be colored beforehand?
Hi! Is there an alternative to the cornstarch like flour? :)) amazing video and a lot of effort too!! :) I think it's great and I am DEFFIENTLY going to make some! Also does it have to be heated? May I dry the clay out or use an alternative? Sorry for asking so many questions by the way- I'm kind of on a budget haha
Hi, thanks for the video! I'm very new to using air drying clay, so I just wanted to ask, is using mod podge better than using clear nail polish on the clay?
1/4 cornstarch and white glue Mix until smooth 1/4 tbs of vinegar and olive oil Mix Turn stove onto low Stir the whole time it's on heat until it gets thick
Where do you get the flattening tools, blending tools? Also to color the clay, will the paint work if you mix it with DAS clay to color it? Can you use lotion for DAS clay?? (The white kind)
thank you! these turned out really pretty. a couple questions, do these break easily if they fall ? also when u say to smooth out the rings with lotion, what lotion are you referring to?
As a kid I recommend this it's easier than the tutorial looks like trust me but maybe instead of ur finger to hold the rings use a pen the size of ur finger when decorating

Hi Abby. I am your new subscriber and this video is absolutely amazing. Just one question though.. will these rings or any other air dry clay jewellery break if they fall or get dropped?
You made them so thin, it´s giving me anxiety - did you have any issues with them breaking in the meantime? I made ones out of polymer clay (which is supposed to dry elastic instead of air dry clay) and they are around the same thickness and a lot of them broke where I connected them, or at the thinnest part.... it´s so sad :((

@@AbbyStackhouse Yup! But anyway, problem solved🤣. I tried kneading more and just let them sit for a day or so and the clumps are gone by itself idk how🤔🤣. I removed the bigger clumps too.
