I have a similar Anytone AT-6666 and on my Channel showcasing on how good 10 meters has become ,Mobile qso to Europe from North America with small whip almost on the daily. Great Job on promoting 10 meters .

The reason that knob is stepped with a crisp click is because of vehicle use.. You don't want a control that you can't fine tune with road vibration.

I've got the Anytone AT5555N and I built a rotary dipole at 22 feet above the ground and the farthest contact I've made with it at 30 watts is more than 19,000 kilometers away from here in the Philippines. If you don't want to be annoyed by the clicking knob sound, just use the UP & DOWN button on the mic and it also changes the frequency much faster. Thank you.

This radio looks more like the dream-come-true CB radio everyone dreamt of in the 80's. Why would a licensed ham use such a single-band radio when 10 meters is covered with any HF rig???
Thanks for reviewing this material, it clears all the questions that arise when this radio is suggested by the usual web sites.

I have an answer to that one! :) I'm actually thinking of it. 10m is very sporadic especially in Australia where I live, it's loooooong hours of listening to nothing and then something pops out of nowhere. Do I wanna dedicate a 1k+ radio to listen to white noise all day or do I sink 300 bucks and have a dedicated radio listening to 29490 all day? Second reason, in the car, you have a 10m antenna, do you want a full featured 1k+ radio lying around or just this one? I think there's a case to make for this unit. Not sure I'll go for it, but it's defo bookmarked!

The answer is that HF rigs are expensive. At least 4 times more expensive. Think 1K$

Of course, it's not as good as an FTDX-10 but for a light setup for a car or in addition to a full range tx, it's done the job.

This may be good for new Techs, but otherwise. It looks cheap, the detent on the tuning knob would definetly be annoying.

Fantastic little radio. Many people judge with their eyes, but the receiver in this radio is really really good. TX audio is great as well. It looks a bit like a CB radio, but it doesn't have to be that thing. In fact, it can only be an 11M radio with an internal modification. And with that mod it can be a 10, 11 and 12M radio. I like dedicated radios, especially 10M because you can monitor repeater frequencies or 29.6 FM for activity without tying up the VFO on the main HF radio. 60W is also good output. Throw a 10M dipole or vertical up and slap this on the shack desk and it won't disappoint, especially with conditions the way they are right now and for the next few years. If I didn't already have a Ranger RCI-2950 as a dedicated 10M radio I'd definitely grab one of these. I might still as a mobile rig to have fun with on some road trips. Or, as a dedicated radio to use with a VHF transverter and have an all mode VHF rig. Of course it's going to be popular with the CB guys, but who cares about that. Most of them are already running Kenwood, Icom or Yaesu HF radios and big amplifiers anyway so it makes no difference. They're not hurting anyone over there.

These radios are amazing performers. Absolute beasts on 12m and 10m HAM for a bargain price. A few of the things you mentioned as "annoying", are actually adjustable in the software to your liking. Some more time with it and you will no doubt find these things out. Mine sits next to an FTDX10 -and I actually prefer the RX on this compared to the Yaesu! It's that good. 73

I use a similar CRT SS 6900N for mobile static 10m operating. I don’t like the steppped/clicking on the encoder but it’s otherwise a fun radio to use and works quite well. Recently had contacts into Central America, North America and Russia just using 10w PEP and a magmount antenna on the vehicle roof. I was parked up at 673 feet ASL but still impressive.
Now is a good time to get out portable/mobile on 10m 👍🏼

I have the same radio. had it a few months now. same is Anytone AT-5555 n II . easy to program and set up threw PC. can change things from PC you can't in radio. I have Digi Rig and anytone cable set and with PC it will work digital modes. it is tricky to set up. like change mic type set levels buy mic gain and volume as well as pc levels. once you get that part. SSTV and JS8 call will work and outher modes like FT8 and the modes in FL Digi . just keep power level down due to duty cycle . my SWR protect came set 20:1 and I re set to 3:1 . radio will run fine on 12.8V LiFePO4 battery in a portable set up. has great RX as well. I am in USA ,NY and worked a lot of UK on 10 /11/12 meters. even JS8 call with FT8 contacts . on the QT60 from a park and T2LT or end fed half wave antenna .73's

I do prefer the AT-55n2 simply because it is bigger and easier to use and see.

I do have the same staff called AnyTone 5555n. My opinion is just super great radio but due to its size, operating and ASQ type it's more recommended for base station than cars.
Can anybody tell me what kind of cable is this? I know seems like RJ45 but there are 4 lines and one of them is covered by special black shield? My cable is broken can I just exchange for RJ45 or there is a big chance for interferentions?

TX audio is to thin for me seeing as the bandpass starts at 450Hz on SSB, making it sound cheap but I guess some will be ok with that.

Save up some for this because it is a lot better having 10, 11, and 12 meters with a little modification and it is 60 watts. This brand, the Anytone and the QST are all just the same. You can do it bro, you can do it.
