Rebuilding a 2006 GMC Sierra that was hit in the doors

- It was a little bit of a drive for this one but it is what I have to do to find rustfree vehicles. This 2006 GMC Sierra has less rust after 15 years than most Illinois vehicles after 15 months. Being an older vehicle, the damage is just the tip of the iceberg to make this thing like new again.

the " scream" never gets old I love your humor and sarcasm
Grown ass adult over here still laughing at the ramp bit.
I cannot back a car off the trailer without screaming. It gets awkward when I am delivering shipping customer’s cars. 😂
Make that a +1, I'm right there with you!!!
that never fails to give me a chuckle....the pizza girl? probably giving scott one of those looks every time lol
Every. Single. Time!!! I even anticipate the scream - no video would be complete without it.
@@thomasweatherford5125 I seem to remember one video where Scott didn't holler coming down the ramp but i believe the suspension on that vehicle was in really rough shape but i was still expecting to hear it none the less 😅
The videos in this channel are more educational than fun. Thanks for the sharing. nice move 3:36😁
Thanks, kind of the point actually.
I have no experience with repairing vehicles, nor bodywork and I'm probably as far from mechanically inclined as could be (Sys Admin).
Yet I still enjoy seeing these transformations. Proves that putting in the effort truly yields the best result.
Thanks for picking a build from my hometown 🤠
I see another visit to Scott's GMC emporium coming.
GM truck emporium... there are some Chevys too! 😂
Richard, I was going to make the same comment. Lol
Starting to turn into Scott's pick and pull. Seems like he has a little bit of everything in there!
So im trying to look up a website for them to find some for my 05 and can't find it. Do you have a link?
I see Shirts coming soon. I will Definitely be ordering some 👍
An ad that has the words "Texas Truck" for folks in the salty midwest, is like catnip. Good strategy.
Bought totaled in Texas the land of Paint Corrosion and Fascism.......
Repaired to better than new and sold in Illinois the land of Rust and Corruption!
Best way to start the day, with a new Vehcor Vid.
Thanks Scott.
Thanks!
My work had 06 Chevy 4x4 that drove up till I retired. 2 years ago. Loved that truck. The looks and the lines . ❤️
Didn't think there would be enough meat on the bone flipping a fifteen year old truck but being a Texas truck at least it's not crusty. Watching South Main Auto repair (upstate NY) channel everything he puts on the lift you have to wonder why it doesn't fold in half with all the rust. 👍👍👍
Man ... watching SMA gives me anxiety. I could not work around all that corrosion.
I was thinking the same thing but then again, used car prices have skyrocketed and ANYTHING is worth 50% more than it was last year. Not to mention pickups were already fetching a premium.
Where I live, before the supply issues with new trucks, even an 11 year old F150 with 240,000 kms was going for $18,000 cdn. The thing that would kill that up here in Canuckistan is the 2wd. Only good for the summer.
These trucks will always bring good money. Pre DOD/AFM. 5.3s are hard to kill until 07 and all of them eventually have cam/lifter issues.
The market is highly inflated. The dealership I work at has a 2020 Mirage with 12k listed for $16,988
@@chrisp9836 as long as it doesn't have that cylinder shut down feature. Those engines dont' last at all. (sorry, forget the technical name for it).
Always enjoy your rebuilds. After watching your rebuilds I'm impressed with level of attention and detail. Wish I had your skills and patience.
Love that you Work on “older” trucks. Excited to see this build!
These are the best selling trucks I have ever had so why not!
@@vehcor They really are. I make a living working on 5.3 and 4l60e powered gm vehicles.
@@vehcor absolutely. I have two extra 00 to 05 reg cab plastic short bed Z71 in my drive, and about once a month someone asks me if I’d sell one. The 00 has 349k on it and they still want it… weird.
@@trevorjarvis3050 they look good, sound good, run good and have simple electric. That's why people like them. Had a 2001 z71 LT myself. Bought it from a neighbor with 454k miles and totally rebuilt it.
@@MK-hx5wd holy cow, that’s high mileage! Sounds like you have a survivor. I like the front end on my 00 better than the cat eye. And I don’t care for the hood coming over the front fender. I’ve been wondering if a good winter project would be to swap the front ends. The 05 only has 89k on it, 4:11s and a 6” lift.
Pretty slick the way you slithered through the widow opening, maybe you have some stock car experience, I enjoy the videos and commentary🤗😎🤗😎
It’s officially Friday with a Vehcor video!
👍🏻
It's early Saturday morning here in Australia! But it's the first thing I watch.
That's way cleaner than my 2011! Stupid winter.
love your sense of humor
Thanks!
That dive into the front window...it's exactly what I thought you'd do.
I always like the video before watching it. Gotta work that algorithm.
I was tired of climbing over the seat! 😂
Good to see a GMT 800 on the channel again!
Love your content. You're doing a great job with the site and doing God's work bringing vehicles back from the dead. The only "criticism" I have is it would be great to stick a number in the description. I've binged a few of your builds and relized I missed an episode halfway through. Stay safe and thanks from a Maryland subscriber.
Love the dive thru the window to get in the truck!
I was tired of climbing over the seat! 😂
I like opening my UA-cam and seeing that you have posted another video. One thing about watching your videos and UA-cam suggesting other like videos is i am seeing that other people are just hacks. It shows me that you truly do the best work. i would only hope that if i had to have any kind of accident repair done that it would be done with the same quality as yours Scott. It seams to many people rely on body filler and covering up damage. Thanks for all the videos.
Thanks for the support!
You make this all look so easy! I want to learn to do more body work on the side of a vehicle like this instead of the "front end specials" I've been doing
Even if I did find some random error of yours,I wouldn’t point it out.You are working, and I am watching.I have been very intrigued because I really had no idea how a collision repair shop repairs stuff.Especially the correct way that you do it.Thank you.
Man! The way you climbing into the window that way killed me. Like a big/little kid. Love the videos buddy!
rule 1 will never get old!
vehcor is one of my guilty pleasures. Nothing against the mainstream cartubers but there's nothing on here like this stuff. *cracks cold beer*
That was just getting interesting when the video ended. Looking forward to seeing more progress next time. We also have that peeling clear coat issue here in Queensland. Our 1997 Charade has lost most of its clear coat. Fortunately, the Charade is the only one of our cars with clear coat. The others have real paint.
Texas climate is very similar to Australia. I prefer them to my Illinois climate!
@@vehcor Are you still planning to move to Texas some time?
Charade gtti?
Really like this build! I have a 2006 Sierra 4 door 2wd as well. I had to travel pretty far south of Indianapolis to get a rust free one. love these trucks.
Wait until you find out where I went for the front door! 😂
The best guy on UA-cam for this kind of work, yes, another great video.
Had to pause it at 4 min. and wait for the room to quiet down so I could hear the scream when you rolled off the ramps. It's a thing for us, too.
'The Scream!' Oh, so satisfying! Love these builds!
Who needs to open a door when you can leap in like that. Great work!
Me, that is entirely too much cardio! 😂
Perfect video for me. I have an 06 silverado. Now I know how to fix the dents in my door that I have no intention of fixing.
Thanks for the video.
She looks rough but has zero rust and a perfect power train.
The bones are good, a little cosmetic work and it will be in tip top shape!
Thank goodness you vacuumed that carpet! Crack me up
Batman dive threw the front door window....classey! Another smooth fix and scratch. Thanks Vehcor.
Scott another very efficient quality build in progress! As always I am looking forward to the next video!
I always liked the look of these GMCs over the cateye Silverado.
Me too!
@@vehcor @@ would suburban doors fit on rear??
Thanks man for your work and editing! It's a pleasure to watch your episodes
Thanks for watching!
and I do care about your safety... your a great guy and nobody wants to see anybody gets hurt
CrossFit found a random tire so she will be entertained. Sleeping on the couch tonight😉🍻
I like the couch! I spend lots of time there. 😂
When we put the rear seats on, they are folded forward and we use a lap seat belt around the seats to stop them 'wandering' whilst they are being moved.
Great videos with lots of excellent sarcasm
Enjoy your videos, Love the step by step as it really shows what goes into reconstruing damaged vehicles. Signed a loyal subscribed Gnome.
Welcome back to Scott’s GM Truck Restoration Channel. Today Scott takes on a 2006 GMC Sierra. (surprise, surprise) Maybe, just maybe, Mr Spotty will make an appearance in this series? 😵
Hahaha. I took a sneak peak , had to be when you were diving threw the window to get in and scream backing the truck off...
Now I REALLY can't wait to watch the rest!!!!
😂
I’m sure glad you’re back doing General motors trucks the best hands down
They sell well and are by far the easiest to work on!
@@vehcor when are you doing the Honda Ridgeline, every one can agree that's the best most capable truck ever made 😁
@@xls4750 arguably it's a pretty capable car anyway.
GMC used to make good trucks. The ones they are making now are absolute garbage
All new trucks is made out of garbage
Awesome good old boy Dukes entry to the truck....
12:55 "just a little wiggle and pull" sounds like a typical friday night for me! ha!
So you're a fisherman?
Ask the Pizza Girl to smile at us sometimes we love watching her too.
Love it !!! 06' classic 👌
Really like the home made specialty tools for the body work,,that works for me two thumbs up.
Nice! The scream is my new favorite. You have to give her another opportunity. I replaced the rockers on my '07 Silverado Classic last year, and there was nothing behind mine, not even the inner rocker.
They are merely for show now? 😂
@@vehcor Haha, no, I scabbed on inner panels. NY truck (2wd) I hardly drive, so it's fine.
Great work
This is exactly what im looking for...nice truck...
Great find Scott .
That thing is immaculate inside for an older truck
The seats look like they have no wear under the covers either!
Ahh yes my favorite a GMT800...need more of those reliable beasts.
At least us Texans see the sun for more than 6 months of the year 😆🤣
We get year round sun. We just view six months of it from inside our house where it isn’t zero degrees! 😂
I thoroughly enjoy your videos and I admire your skills. Keep them coming.
DAMN the painting gnomes will get this one FAST!!!
Thanks for video .
No problem!
I'm most positive your Dukes of Hazard window jump in is way better than you showed us....lol
I probably should have had a camera inside. It would not have looked as graceful! 😂
Good work Scott!
Funny, I saw the truck on the forklift and the blurred windshield came on and I was like, "Dang! The airbag just went off!". Need to stay off these meds I guess. Haha!
😂
Love seeing you rebuild these gmt800s I do that myself
👍👍on time for new project, miss that style rims on newer basic gm trucks✌
It’s been a minute since I had steel wheels on something!
Nice score on the rust free truck.
From Houston, be careful, they have had some terrible floods and hurricanes. If you think road salt is bad try salt water.
Pizza Girl does crossfit, gets distracted by a random tire. Scott stays buff by - Scott Powered ram; removing & installing seats; tailgate removal and installs (watch your back Scott!); "suspension tool workouts", and random ramp screams - among many other routines. It's a sad state of affairs when Scott has to go over 1000 miles to find a decent auction 15 yr old GMC for the emporium!
You make that look easy... almost like you've done it before.
Cool work man 👍
Scott you do great work!
love the intro, waiting for mulley to say no aliens were hurt
You do fantastic work brother. I learn a lot watching you... keep up the good fight.
Hey Scott I hope that you grabbed that Canadian Toonie "Two dollar coin" that was on the back floor , put that in the center console so that the haters can cry even more LOL . That will be a real nice truck when you are done and personally I did not see any safety violations. You had your safety squint engaged !
Im glad someone mentioned the toonie
For some reason, I thought that maybe we would hear some Waylon Jennings music play here. Like I don't know, the theme song for "The Dukes of Hazard" perhaps. That's until we saw how you jumped in the truck!!!🤣
Hey, you pretty much just went and got my truck to fix! Oh I need popcorn fo dis!
Your realy a craftsman
Enjoy watching Your vids with a smile
And see the end result
Up to the next video
You always have a great video. Like the way you repair vehicles. Old school repairs, not done around here anymore. Looks like a good buy for you..
NEW TO THE CHANNEL, AND I LOVE IT!! FUNNY AND ENTERTAINING AF
How many miles? Looks pretty nice to be totaled! Glad it's getting another life! I enjoy Vehcor Fridays! You do quality builds! Thanks for letting us watch.
130,000
130k? It's just getting broke in good.
It’s good for 350,000.
The dukes of hazards jump was funny 😄
Being an H-Town truck I was not surprised to see peso coinage under the seats.
I just bought a wrecked 06' last week. Good luck!
This guy likes his trucks !
Nice to see another gmt 800 in your shop. I'm currently building a silverado ss 🤘
I always wanted an SS.
@@vehcor they're super fun! If you join the silverado ss fb page you'll find one for sale in the USA every other day
Can’t wait till next week, love you videos.
Luv those southern vehicles!
Me too! I’ll take some faded paint and dried out plastic over rust any day!
nice working
Thanks!
LOOKING GOOD...BTDT X 200
say hello to the pizza lady! always nice she comes by to help!
👍🏻 will do!
Looks like Mr. Spotty and friends have a soft sport for any GMC Sierra that needs work.
This is exactly what I am looking for. Seriously. Going to your website to check it out.
You do good work Scott
The CrossFit jokes are pretty spot on lol
Love the cross fit tire joke
Nice video sir
Thank you!
The GMT800 was/is my favorite vehicle and I have owned just about everything since my first car in 1978. Nice work Scott, that one should sell quickly once you have massaged the wrinkles out. Your Amazon store has just about everything, but no pizza girl? Must be a maintenance issue. :D
I think they recalled the pizzas girls due to the no pizza defect! 😂
@@vehcor
Another entertaining video, thanks.
Great video Scott!👍
I wasn't typing but I was thinking it, so I guess I'm somewhat of a clean freak.😉😂😂
