I have a 2018 Sierra Denali that I bought from the auction with the 8 speed - the shudder was fixed in mine with a fluid flush. There is a bulletin out on that from GM. Also there is a button on the back of the running boards to tap with your foot that will extend the running boards to the rear. It appears that those long bolts for the front struts are the ones you get with a leveling kit. I'll bet someone put those defective struts on there and took the leveling kit blocks. Nice truck, I really enjoy driving mine and it cost me about half of what one with a clean title would cost. You are the king of GMC truck repair!

When it came to the GPS, you are the detective of detectives. I assume GM doesn’t sell that coax cable behind the radio that was damaged? No words for the amount of work & money you saved your customer. See you in the next installment. Have a great weekend.
SCOTT, I like to do complete trans fluid changes by disconnecting the cooler line at the rad/ trans cooler that's feeding the cooler. Then connect a piece of hose to it going to a 5 gal bucket. Then, start the motor, let the fluid flow into the bucket until it sputters, turn off the motor, then add that many quarts to the trans. And repeat until the fluid is new looking. About 10 - 12 quarts. This does the entire trans INCLUDING the TC. NO pressure flush!

@@Hidden-comment164 I was told by several people including transmission rebuilders that pretty much they all go around that mileage. Both my friends blew there's at that time as well. I drive like an old. Man lol. Trust me they are not good transmissions. My shop had 8 Sierra in need of transmissions
Tech Tip No 1: For those awkward gaskets that always move just as you get it all lined up or won't stay in place upside down we used to use small cable ties through 4 holes to hold the gasket on to the pan or whatever, offer it up, get some bolts started, cut out the ties, bolt it up ..... sorted. That was another nice Texas buy as it was all mostly mechanical issues and reasonably easily sorted.

58:53 I have found when having to route wires up from the bottom, I get a cheapo thin coat hanger (the painted kind) or some 14 ga house ground wire, tape whatever needs to be routed to the end and fish that through. It's thin enough to get into the small spaces but rigid enough to stay vertical....Works really well if you can't access from the top and fish it through down. Plus you can put bends in it to get around stuff. Another trick: if you have to rout a wire through something like conduit, tape a paper towel to the wire you have to fish through and go to the other end with a shop vac....works like a charm! Just make sure you tie off the other end otherwise you'll suck the whole thing through then have to do it again. ask me how I learned THAT lesson lol....

I got really lucky with an Excursion V10 truck years ago. It was a low mileage rollover with a Florida certicate of destruction that was 2yrs old at the time. It had more damage from the tow company recovering it than the lazy half roll did to it. Went to Florida and brought it back to northeast Ohio. Replaced the roof and an a-pillar along with the windshield and some misc parts. I got it inspected and issued a new title and started using it. About a week later the trans freaked out so I took it to my local dealer. They covered the repairs under warranty and it was good as new. I'm still not sure how I had warranty coverage on a rebuilt truck but I didn't argue.
ATX resident w/ 2nd broken windshield in a year here...huge amount of construction w/ related rock (and a little dirt) hauling by clapped out trucks w/ limited inspection has rocks all over the road - add in all that truck traffic, many many lifted pickups w/ no mud flaps, and those rocks get flung everywhere. I have theory the heat / sun may weaken the glass, but my windshields were both less than 1 yr old so...think its the rocks
I completely understand why windshields get broken. Two lane roads with gravel shoulders and a 75mph limit. It doesn’t matter the make, all windshields in Texas die eventually! 😂
I think you care for your rebuilt more than the buyer…..you always do a great job ….another good accomplishment..,I wished I live in the US ,so I can purchase one of your rebuilt, knowing it’s not going to die on me…. Hehehehe

I am always so impressed by your level of knowledge on the many different vehicles you work on. You make everything look so easy, and I am sure that many of the things you work on are not easy to fix. Lastly, your diligence to the smallest details, and yes I am referring to Cavity waxing everything. You clearly do great work and I am sure you take pride in your work. I really enjoy watching you fix different vehicles. Keep the videos coming and I 'll watch them. Love the channel. What would be really cool at the end of a build, is instead of pulling out a bottle of Hater's Tears from the console, pull out an actual Hater, and "IN THE PILE" !!!!
I think I've explained this before. Total losses like these happen because one of the insurance agents best rich customers has a vehicle stolen and recovered. Claims adjuster goes and looks at and writes estimate to repair of a couple thousand dollars. Customer raises hell with his good buddy insurance agent and says "we don't know what the thieves did to the truck, maybe they over revved the engine or did high rpm transmission drops". Agent calls vice president of claims at the insurance company and reminds him how much money the agent makes for the company and demands the vehicle be totaled. Adjusters boss calls him and says total the truck and send it to the auction where we'll get most of the companies money back. So it never reaches the typical 70% of value damage to mark it a "total" on the title.
Or more likely, the car was recovered after the theft insurance had already been paid out. Since it wasn't chopped immediately, perhaps it was waiting in a container to go abroad.
Years ago I bought a salvaged F150. Lariat, one month old, had $5,000 damage or less. But once it goes salvage, the warranty is cancelled (thank you Ford), and the title is branded. In your case, getting a clean title was definitely a score!
Insurance pays off a vehicle typically after 30 days if it is not recovered. Sometimes sooner if they are not expecting to get it back in one piece. If it is recovered, after that it is totaled even with no damage or minor damage like this one.
Florida's a state where it's part of your insurance to repair your windshield. Also here in Texas if the crack does not obstruct your vision you can still get the vehicle inspected
I was surprised to see how much hidden damage , things you would never think of. Whoever got the truck I know they're getting a good vehicle because you are very meticulous person. And go the extra yard like all that undercoating. As usual great job God bless brother
I think what I find most impressive is the fact that you can hop from "This is how you replace an engine and transmission with no help" to "ok, I'm opening the ignition and replacing the delicate lock tumblers" without missing a beat.
'bouncy fluid' great term, i learn all the good stuff from you Uncle Scott wow that trans fluid change looks a faff, and two perfect spaces for plugs to be added, needs a big wood screw self tapped into that pan hehe Scott, just to let you know, if ever you came to the UK, you'd fit straight in with your amazing sarcasm, works for me, (not that you'd actually do that, even i wouldn't pay to visit the UK, unless i was paid to, and then i'd pull the plug out and let it sink)
Windshield replacement: I used to live in Kentucky and had several windshields replaced with no deductibles. When I moved to Tennessee a few years ago, my broken windshield cost around $300 which was not covered by my deductible. Kentucky requires insurance companies to fully cover windshields (sorry....I don't know about side and rear glass). I think Kentucky is the exception meaning that most states do not require full insurance coverage.
Get it Scott. Nice flip. The struts are a bummer to have had to spend money on. Yet being theft recovery the gps makes sense along with key lock and ignition. Keep up the awesome content
I rented a 1500 with that 8 speed transmission. My God that thing shifted more than Billy Bigrigger in his first 18 speed! The 10 speed F150 I rented shifted way less and it had 2 more gears!
Wow, listed for $42k with 85k miles. Was about $63k (w/o TTL) when new if you paid sticker. I'm glad I'm not in the market for a truck. I had no idea prices were so ridiculous. Now I'm curious what Scott had in it.
Love your channel! As a lifelong resident of Texas I have driven Texas roads for over 40 years and drive a service vehicle for my job, including travel between Austin and Dallas probably 1000 times and never had a broken windshield in all this time. Maybe I have just been lucky so far?
New York. I was stationed in NY and they have mandatory zero deductible glass coverage for insurance. I had another state, switched over, my insurance went way down and I got new side glass, and a windshield for free. Was very nice, about the only good thing about NY state.
Springs are some of the scariest things to deal with hands down, i needed to replace a lower control arm on my '96 chevy c2500 and I had the spring compressed with an autozone compressor. I had my hands in the spring my uncle pushed the control arm down and the compressor came off and the spring shook my arms. Thankfully the springs arent under a lot of tension in those trucks but it still wasnt a very fun situation to be in
The windshield repair state is Arizona. If you have full coverage, your windshield is separate from your deductible and fully covered. It encourages people to fix rock chips and cracks because they happen so often. It doesn't matter what highway you are on out here or what lane you are in, at some point, you're going to be going 80MPH behind a gravel truck.
As a person from the land of rust and Communism (Minnesota), I'm surprised you didn't mention how options like power running boards never last or work after a short time. Keep up the great work comrade..I mean buddy.
Nice find Scott!!! As a Texan who has lived all over the country, the only place I have had my windshield cracked is on Texas interstates. If you run over a piece of gravel at 85+ mph you will launch it a hundred yards behind you and it has a greater chance of finding a windshield, and they always find a windshield. :D
Same. I grew up in the land of Salt and corruption and never broke one and now live in sand and cactus land. My windshields are all aftermarket units. Lol.
I have this exact truck (except mine's the long bed). Mine has a 10-speed transmission (maybe this one too?). You're not kidding about the amount of shifting it does! I had to replace one of the running board motors because the bushing in the rear was seized. Nice to see the boards on this truck operating so smoothly. I hear they're very hard to come by on getting replacements.
Another good video. Surprised it was over an hour, just that much more for the haters to whine about. Great tip on the cabin air filter. Thanks for sharing
Really enjoyed this. Sometimes I'm not sure if you're expertise is spectacular and your humor is just the bonus, or the other way around. I just knew that GPS antenna was going to suck. Even jerks who steal trucks don't want to mess with the headliner. Bastards. Love the truck, except for that transmission. I hope the work you did pays dividends for many miles, but I also hope the fellow who bought it saves for a rainy day.
23:41 at least it's not a cork gasket without metal rings to prevent squashing it. I hated that about the TH350s in my first car. Oh, and stripping the threads on a couple bolts DOING IT BY HAND!

He was enjoying trolling the haters!
The scream when coming off the trailer gets me every time! Please don't ever stop! 😂
Florida's a state where it's part of your insurance to repair your windshield. Also here in Texas if the crack does not obstruct your vision you can still get the vehicle inspected
Took the rest of the day off just to watch Scott! God I need a life!!!!
Thanks for sharing what you do. Always a pleasure!
'bouncy fluid' great term, i learn all the good stuff from you Uncle Scott
wow that trans fluid change looks a faff, and two perfect spaces for plugs to be added, needs a big wood screw self tapped into that pan hehe
Scott, just to let you know, if ever you came to the UK, you'd fit straight in with your amazing sarcasm, works for me, (not that you'd actually do that, even i wouldn't pay to visit the UK, unless i was paid to, and then i'd pull the plug out and let it sink)
great work mr.scott makes me want to tackle my oem sachs struts on my bmw 335i soon
Love the attention to detail! Great job I enjoy the videos thank you!
Someone got themselves a very nice truck. Thanks for the video.
Another super satisfying video! Dunno if you care but the passenger side of the front grill is broken slightly.
For being a theft recovery it's actually in a good shape. Lot of thiefs destroy these vehicles from inside and out beyond repairs.
Wow, listed for $42k with 85k miles. Was about $63k (w/o TTL) when new if you paid sticker. I'm glad I'm not in the market for a truck. I had no idea prices were so ridiculous. Now I'm curious what Scott had in it.
Re: pan gasket, try some dental floss tied through a couple bolt holes to hold gasket in place. Worked for me.
Nice work. It looks like that exhaust crossover pipe is bashed in and almost flat.
Thankfully the springs arent under a lot of tension in those trucks but it still wasnt a very fun situation to be in
FYI, I believe there is a kick button on the back end of the power running board to have it pivot back without doing from inside the cab.
Outstanding!!! I have a Friday off and I get a truck video!!!!
Hope all is well Scott.
And Massachusetts is free glass
The windshield repair state is Arizona. If you have full coverage, your windshield is separate from your deductible and fully covered. It encourages people to fix rock chips and cracks because they happen so often. It doesn't matter what highway you are on out here or what lane you are in, at some point, you're going to be going 80MPH behind a gravel truck.
As a person from the land of rust and Communism (Minnesota), I'm surprised you didn't mention how options like power running boards never last or work after a short time. Keep up the great work comrade..I mean buddy.
That was a very interesting blog because the vehicle looked so intact but looks are deceiving 😮
Looking in your comments where are all the haters ? All seen to respect you well. I like the gm truck videos I have 6 of them
Nice find Scott!!! As a Texan who has lived all over the country, the only place I have had my windshield cracked is on Texas interstates. If you run over a piece of gravel at 85+ mph you will launch it a hundred yards behind you and it has a greater chance of finding a windshield, and they always find a windshield. :D
Yep, I understand it. I just find it humorous at this point. I have a chip in my trucks windshield. I wonder where it came from? 😂
Yes. I will take theses gaskets anytime over the old cork ones.
This guy well trusted 👏.. take pride in his work 👏
Gotta love the GM 8L90 transmission...plagued with issues...
Like I always say, nothing makes a man feel like a man then working off his tailgate. Thanks for the entertainment.
