I understand the country internet and having been binge watching y'all from the beginning to catch up, it happens. Thank you guys for putting stuff out on such a "busy, holiday". Some of us are stuck at home with limited wifi. Hope y'all have a wonderful and safe weekend!! Keep up the good work!!! By the way, Meg I tried your dough recipe the other for pizza and a loaf, it was amazing!! I've tried so many recipes but this one has been the best. Not sure if it was the extra yeast or no eggs or maybe it was super hot with no AC but it was a couple good days of food for us. Thank you!!
Meg try some alfoil with butter spread over it and some lemon pepper then put your fish down and wrap it then bake it the oven. Oh man 😍 lovely. Also what you did with the tomato pie I do with sliced potatoes, onion and bacon layer it then cream cook in oven when nearly ready add cheese delicious

Meg & Ben, Jack & Tyler, Britt, 'Munchy' and 'Buggy', Thank you so so so much for vlogging and being so wonderful. Such a polite and helpful family is a joy to see. Dear Hollar family, wanted to add a suggestion to your beautiful tomato pie...my great grand mama would add a layer of thinly sliced potatoes, or thinly sliced squash and last but not least, spinach leaves instead of a pastry pie crust. Oh that's right! The starch in the potatoes would cling to the upper crust, while having a thickening effect on the tomato juice in the pie! I totally forgot that! It also adds to keeping the upper crust from getting sogged ...good input!

My MIL taught me a quick easy crust recipe 1/3 cup milk, 2/3 cup oil, 1 tsp salt and 2 cups flour makes 2 crust that are flaky Can be pressed or rolled between wax paper and can be used for froozen pies
Guys! Its after 11 pm where I live. Im always like "man Im dead tired gotta go sleep" and then you post and I just HAVE to watch it. Always worth every minute :) love you all so much
Thank you so much for explaining that noise. It sounds like a muted version of the emergency broadcast alarm. I felt like I was going crazy cause no one else in the house heard it. I'd probably switch back and forth with a fan for my sanity. Thank you for an enjoyable video as always.
And then she cooked supper and helped with the evening chores & milking. Then probably gave the baby girl, Lilian, her bath & read her a story & rocked her to sleep. That's all after a full day's work.
Little people don't realize how bad a strain on the back it can be... being tall with a substantial upper body, and then having to bend over to do stuff.
I make a biscuit dough for my tomato pie. I add cheese and herbs to the biscuit dough and Pat it out in my pie pan a little bit thicker than a pie crust. Then I add those other ingredients and bake and it does not have a crust on top. It has cheese but it is like a tomato biscuit pie! And if you do the crust with herbs and cheese in it, and have any left over, you can roll it very thin and salted a little and make crackers out of it. Those are the most delicious crackers! Try it it is so delicious. And I know you make beautiful biscuits!
@@Christina-ve2tv it is really a wonderful little trick I made up on my own. I used Bisquick but you can make your regular biscuit dough. I added Italian seasonings, oregano and cheddar cheese, shredded. Just mix up your biscuit dough and add the seasonings and cheese, also I added garlic and onion powder to the biscuit mix. Then Pat out your crust as thick as you like it. I also mix up a mayonnaise using the garlic and herbs. I cut up my ripe tomatoes, I like to peel them. I sprinkled a tiny bit of sugar and a little bit of salt and pepper on top of the tomatoes. Then I added the mayonnaise layer in the cheese went on top. You can add other things such as basil and onions if you like. The crust goes on the bottom. You bake it at 4:25 for 30 minutes or until the crust is golden. It is so delicious! I made many of these pies from my mother. I have not made one since she passed away in 2020. We have an abundance of beautiful tomatoes this year. I may break out the old recipe in honor of her. This is a recipe my mother-in-law gave me. I made a good many changes to that recipe. And this is what I came up with! I hope many of you will try it. Also the crackers that I made with the leftover dough are wonderful. When my daughter went off to college she left with a big container of those crackers. They were a hit in the dorm! They are a delicious snack. I have not seen any crackers similar to these manufactured by any stores.
@@Christina-ve2tv I use a very sharp knife or you can latch them. If it is out of season you can drain a jar of canned tomatoes or just use a drained can of diced tomatoes. You can have it all year! Do drain your Tomatoes well. You can save that vegetable broth and put it in a soup or a stew for a later meal. I tried to season every level lightly so I have good flavor throughout.
My mom was 1 of 10. My dad and 8 uncles were farmers. After a few years of farming on their own with young families they decided to grow corn like my grandfather did. One uncle grew the sweet corn on the end of a field planted with a planter. I remember shucking a heaping truck load or more of corn for our family. All of my uncles did the same.
Love you all. That tomato pie looks great hope to try. I just wanted to share a garden tip given to me in my teens as I planted with a nun in highschool. She said always water the row or hole 1st before planting because the roots seeks moisture down deep. It helps especially if there is drought. God Bless You
Living halfway between Vegas and Death Valley, there is a short wimdow to grow corn for ears. I grow lots of corn for for the plants. Give it 4 weeks, its 2 to 3 feet tall and the heat will kill it. So as it gets hot, I pull the corn for fodder. In the odd year that i get corn for eating its a win win.
Meg, You are the best!! Everyone loves you and Ben & the kids of course! I couldn't believe how excited you both were about this "tomato pie" for the longest time.....We had a basket full of tomatoes left from our crops & I froze several bags of tomatoes..& we have fresh basil. ..SO I made 2 Tomato Pies - WOW fantastic, plus I did use crusts - not homemade, like usual but, still amazing. I added additional seasoning on one pie - the other was Meg original with crust - I posted pics and your recipe on my FB page I called it Hollar's Homestead Tomato Pie - many of my friends were so happy. I hope they will also check out and subscribe to your channel. Meg, you are so right that the taste, esp. just after cooking is a taste bomb, so pleasing....so surprising....and I finally understand why you were so excited - absolutely fabulously delicious! The best mouth pleaser in a very long time. Thanks so much Meg! can't wait till next tomato season and have the best tomatoes to use - I'll make several then and freeze them for months of joyful eating.
I just watched Becky at Acre Homestead make your pie, with a few modifications, including adding a pie crust. She referenced your channel in her video today. Her recipe looked so good.
you will love a zucchini casserole, slice lots of zucchini and put in sauce pan (large) with water to cook till tender, drain and reserve the liquid. the liquid is used to make stuffing in a pan as package reads, mix a can of cream of chicken or mushroom soup and equal of sour cream. keep all items separate, slice carrots alot of them double that of zucchini, saute onions and ground beef . with all of this will make 2 deep casserole dishes to layer like carrots, zucchini, meat, sour cream , stuffing, and keep repeating till stuffing on top. cook 40 to 1 hour to heat everyting together mostly.. at 350.... those that don't do vegetables well will mostly taste the meat and stuffing. gets alot of carrots and zucchini used up.
THIS is probably my favorite episode, I could watch a whole channel of Meg cooking all of what she does to feed the whole family, it fascinates me how much you both do!
Your both so amazing, I will send you my Grandma's pie crust, I have her and My mom's journal, mom was chief. It would be my joy to share this with you. They were a joy in my life and I know they would enjoy me sharing this with you Meg. I BLESS you all 😊
I am doing the tomato pie this weekend. I've made tomato tarts with frozen phyllo dough and it is good. Meg, you have the most endearing and truly contagious laugh. WTG, Hollar Homestead!
I have loved you guys for so long... BUT, this video is now my favorite. Your natural exchange in the field and kitchen is simply lovely. Keep doing what you are doing. Because of you, I am now part time urban homestead. You guys just keep on inspiring me. Thank you! I always look forward to your videos. Btw: I too, have found potato sprouts! Now, because of you, I know what I'll be doing with them. Thanks again.
Its very difficult to grow without rain, I hear that! Times like these make good farmers awesome ones! Great gardeners are great because they have learned from all the past lessons that the garden taught them. Good on you for noticing when it was time to give up on that mini corn crop. Tatters will heal your soil as a bonus ( potatoes are soil fixers much like sunflowers are) Meg, your cooking always looks divine ♥️
This Italian says That’s called a tomato casserole. A tomato pie is a pizza crust with a crushed fresh tomatoes mixed with carmelized onions with fresh basil. Baked until golden crust and then served cold or room temperature. Enjoy. Of course call it what you like and eat what you like! 😂 And thanks so much for the videos!
After y’all said tomato pie on the other video I have been searching the internet for tomato pie. Thank you for sharing. Y’all have a beautiful family. Y’all transparency is comforting. God bless!
My son who does AC suggested that the buzz of your A/C sounds like the fan blade may just be dirty from cooking grease, etc, & be off balance which causes it to strike the fan housing. The fact that it has been growing progressively worse is consistent with this being the cause. If it were the motor it would more likely just quit on day, or give of a burning odor as a warning.
We heat with wood and have a blower on the woodstove/fireplace. We have had to replace the fan on that before because i was loud. It is in a large common area that includes cooking Do you think this applies to the conversation?
Your judgement was spot on to get the corn out and potatoes inn. Feeding a family is more important than a wait for nothing grow . Smart man. Many hello from our family in Oregon to your's.
Ben I really loved your hat - I've got one the same - and it used to be my Dads. Always great to see Meg cooking and she had really good advice to others about "wishing and wanting". Keep well - God bless you all.
Dang, that tomato pie looks good! I’m the same way when it comes to my first fried green tomato lol. Every day I tell ‘em c’mon baby, grow! I’m getting spoiled to all the afternoon rain showers, so much easier to pull weeds and loving the temps. Mosquitoes…not so much. I still look dressed for winter so I won’t get bit. A bee suit would be ok with me. Y’all have a great 4th!! ✌🏻
My maternal grandfather homesteaded the sandhills of eastern Colorado, tough country even for cattle. Cash crops were tough to come by. SOMEHOW he grew popcorn on some good bottomland, processed it and marketed it himself for that precious thing in The Great Depression called "cash in my pocket." He figured out selling popcorn direct to theatres in the metropolis of Denver would put the cash in his pocket rather than in a middleman's pocket. Just 70 miles or so in his Model T! Bottom line? I don't know. I guess farmers gotta figure out how to work with Mother Nature to make a success.
Children of the Corn! LOL... I cannot believe how she has grown and all of your children and you two seem not to age. I am 60. I watch them grow and realize how fast life goes bye. I love your family and your videos. God Bless.
You guys are so cute together! Beautiful, Amazing, Loving, Admirable family! Thank you for making my Friday a little brighter with this vlog. Blessings to you all 🙏❤ 🙂
For foolproof pie crust try the recipe from tenderflake lard and use about ½ cup less flour. Never had it fail. Don't over handle it. I would make the tomato pie without crust and it looks yum.
So Tomatoe Pie is like a baked Caprese salad with onions? That sounds EXTREMELY DELICIOUS! Over a crust will be like fresh pizza. 😋 and now I'm hungry. 😅
I wouldn't be surprised to see a little corn grow up through your potatoes, just because you can tell not all of it germinated the first time. I lived in California before you did, being as I am 66 and I was a kid, but the drought started back in the 70's even though they have not admitted it yet. I remember so many oak trees dying in Northern California and everybody freaking out. I love watching you cook "sister". I am so impressed. I have some big tomatoes growing so this new recipe is great! Is that homemade mayo?
I am always amazed at what you do with that Tiny Kitchen. I'm waiting for Ben to build UI kitchen extension and a new bedroom for the baby. I think you two can do anything.
Oh I’m totally trying that pie when my tomatoes are ready! This was my first year growing potatoes, they were great. I put more in the ground last week here in Ohio. Love watching you guys and Meg you are not lazy!!!!
Fantastic...more taboes to plant for Buggie!!!👍 Don't blame you for pulling up the corn. It obviously was stunted from lack or rain early on. So happy to see how you make tomato pie, Meg!! Thank you so much!🍅 Ben, you crack me up, "you're almost out of thyme!"🤣😆😂 Happy 4th to all of you!🇺🇸
Miss Meg Betty Crocker farm cookbook. In food processor for 2 9' pie crust 2-1/2 cups flour,3/4 cup lard,1/2 teaspoon salt crumb then drop ice cold water 6-7 tablespoons slowly while blending. Its a game changer. You can roll them out and freezes beautiful. Also mayo baked on chicken with parm cheese will shock you. Juices flow. By the way I can't bake not even cookies. But I make a mean chickn-pot-pie. Thank you all God Bless
M6 friend in Georgia has short Corn Stalls and they are Tasseling too 😨. No Crust, this is how Great recipes are made 🙌. I thought it was my AC LMBO Xx z 💝. Happy FOURTH 🎉🎊🎆🎇💥💝. JO JO IN VT 😆💕🇺🇸
I really enjoyed watching this video! Can't wait to try tomato pie, it looks wonderful. Love the way your kids are working on the homestead, and just out there being kids, seems to be a rarity these days! That little buggie is the cutest little kid I have seen! Meg your kitchen is just right, and you make it work for you and yours, Great job!! Have a safe and happy 4th of July, stay safe!!
I love all your videos and I’ve watched some of them up to three times! When you don’t have a new one, I “tune in” one I’ve already seen! Your garden(s) look great because you plant and give everything enough attention. I enjoy videos of your fruit trees, too. Your boys are busy with projects they like and your sweet baby girl loves walking through the gardens with you. Don’t get too hot...choose cooler parts of the day to work. Love y’all! Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸
I tip my hat to you,Meg, for everything you do but, especially for your willingness to bake ANYTHING in this heat. I'm in south Georgia so I know the struggle is real. Your home is insulated so much more than mine so I'm thinking that makes it a lot easier to tolerate. Yay you! Have a blessed weekend and a safe 4th! Big hugs! ☮️💖🙏🇺🇸🇮🇱🇺🇦✝️✌️
I just made a copycat "potato pie" using your tomato pie idea. I had no tomatoes so I layered potatoes, onions and some ranch seasoning. Baked it with your topping and voila!! Can't wait to get some 🍅
Weird corn, never heard of that tassels at such tiny height. Smart to remove agree as sure don’t want cross pollinate with the corn you want seed. Love watching you cook Meg, and hearing you two joke about thyme was hilarious! Going to try the tomato pie for my son when he visits, and maybe even make a ‘for one’ meal of the ingredients! Thanks you both. Happy Days! 🍅🥧
If only I wasn't allergic to tomatoes...... Our cabbage leaves are big though and your cabbage roll dish looked really good, minus the tomatoes of course, haha. The love you fought to keep shows in your family. My favorite part of your videos is supper time. Everyone bows their head and sister plants her face on her tray. That young. Precious.
Wow Meg you are a fantastic cook and the meals you make look delicious. I never heard of a tomato pie and now I’m going to try and make one, thanks to you. Home grown food has the best taste 👅 ever. I love ❤️ watching you and Ben not to mention Buggy in the garden. I live in the city and I hate it but I do have a small garden. Keep up the good work. Bye for now. Stay cool, lol!!
Meg, heres a quick one skillet recipe thats a take off of stuffed bell peppers. use all the ingredients you use to make stuff bells but instead of stuffing them, chop & add to ground beef, onions & garlic. add the rest of the ingredients to the skillet & cook. usually you add cheese to the top- thats very good. bc I dont like cheese I skip that step. one skillet meals are great in so many ways.
We love Salmon (here in Oregon) My favorite way to fix it is to put in in a tin foil boat lots of butter lemon juice, and lemon pepper, close up tight and bake until flaky Yummmm
Ben , we trialed planting rows of corn vs. postage stamp blocks. We got a better yield of corn with the postage stamp blocks. It has something to do with the pollination. Sounds crazy , I know. Maybe next season trial it . Still a fabulous looking garden .
I am making that Tomato Pie as soon as my tomatoes are in. Thanks for the recipe. Whenever I have some space, I plant potatoes or onions. We go through them so fast.
Impressed with the consistency of the axe chopping sounds from the working off the aggression area. It's hard stuff, chopping uphill like that! Good job. My working off aggression tasks were usually with a mattock or machete, and I doubt I sounded that consistent, very much after the very beginning. In my experience, living within the south eastern quarter of US, even if your area has good predicted rain fall, spring/summer rain is most often false. Unless you live in certain spots within a given area. (One clue is the price per acre. If that land was in anyway more affordable per acre, it's not going to rain like it says on the brochure. lol) Plan for dry, save as much rain water as best you can in winter. Open random run off water collection, that turns into algae water, is a great way to trap mosquitoes using Bti. Keeps down the amount of local mosquitoes until the rain water is all used up. Just know at some point the frogs and toads will start using all those as yearly breeding grounds, and you need good technique for dipping the watering cans in them without getting tadpoles. :) Looking forward to the tiny potato seeded harvest. Almost always end up mixing mine in with bigger seed potatoes, so I'm curious how that many just wee little-uns perform. Did a couple in late winter (Freeze protection over the growing tops) from only grape sized potatoes and they did just fine! Sample size only two batches, plus easy reds, though. So I'm wondering how small can I go, or if it's only possible in cool weather. Yay for the tomato pie! Must try this. Onions are mostly cured...hurry up onions...guess I could just use our bunching onions! Already pulled out a big block of pepper jack to shred. :) That garlic clove though. And no more Thyme. So funny. I've never tried to cram one like that in a mincer before. Some people try to get cloves to do that on purpose. Sold as spring garlic, or something like that in more cosmopolitan places. It's 100% true that no kitchen is big enough. I mean, outside of mansion scale. Who knows, maybe not even then. Little kitchens just mean everything spills out into the rest of the house to get done, or stored. It's awkward, but sometimes the best of life happens around the tiniest kitchens. One of my kitchens was entirely on a narrow screened in porch. Fridge, cobbled together pantry (cement blocks and wood), table and with a motor home burner/oven combo. In Florida. No AC, so sticking any of that in the tiny box, barely big enough for a bed and dresser that was the indoor house part, wouldn't have helped. Some of my favorite meals and memories are from then. So exciting before we got the screen up though! Possums, and all the wild things, plus just hopping off the edge to go grab an extra meal ingredient. lol
As a French, i’m so glad you are enjoying courgettes and also rilettes. The world is bettered by sharing great food ideas. Like american tomato pie ? Will try !
You also get resourceful on how to catch water. Buckets in shower with you. Washing machine water directed out to grass. I even have buckets under aircons to catch the expelled water even the hot water system you will be surprised how much you catch.
Those kids are for sure learning at an early age. Thank you for all the inspiration, we are future homesteaders and trying to learn as much as we can. We are getting ready to build at our new property and all your videos are such a huge help.
I never liked squash until my aunt made the following (cubed all fried together) yellow squash, zucchini, onion, potato, and bacon. When done top with cheese.... I love that dish!!!!!!!!!
Can we just classifie you both as the COOL GARDENERS of North Carolina and UA-cam? You both show so much love and enthusiasm even on a fialed crop. Have a wonderful and safe 4th and God bless.
I’m not a big fish eater either Ben, but learned to like salmon grilled with teriyaki drizzled over it…my parents had a JenAire stove so I could grill it inside. I also love to use Zataran’s fish seasoning in the bag when frying fish. Meg you probably can make your version of it once you see the ingredients, read online, as it a bit of cayenne I think, it has a hint of a bite to it, even Buggy would eat it. I like nonfishy tasting fishy, cod, pollock, haddock, flounder…not sure about red snapper, or redfish, crab cakes or deviled crab I like, shrimp especially coconut fried shrimp is good.
Haha! I thought y’all were churning ice cream in the background. It sounds like our electric ice cream maker. I’m so enjoying your videos! Thanks so much! Here in West Texas we are in a terrible drought. Pray we get some rain soon! Blessings to all of you!!
The apartment we currently live in, the only counter space is the size of a dish drain rack, the is used to dry dishes. Most of the time our "counter space" becomes the triangle divider in the front of a double sink, the strip of the top of the open fridge door and put a cutting board on a cold stove burner. Blessings to you.
I’m trying this tonight with tomatoes and basil from my garden. My onions aren’t ready yet either. 😆 I’m so excited to give this a try! And it’s good for low carb eating too. 👍🏻 Thanks for sharing with us! 💕
Oh Ben... The cicada analogy cracked me up! I went from the NE city living with a 42 x 30ft kitchen to the southern country same size as y'all. My husband says to think of our 5 acre yard as part of our kitchen now that it's mostly food 🤗 THANKS for the delicious recipe Meg
You two are getting really good at this blogging, great homely viewing, Simple things done well. Congrats on developing a wonderfully inspiring and comforting style of production. I look forward to your blog each day. Thank you.👌👌
Sorry for the technical difficulties! Gotta love Country Internet 😂 We should be up and running now. Thanks for being patient y’all!
Thank y’all for all that you do. Have a wonderful holiday weekend! God bless 🇺🇸

have you ever considered rain collection system

There isn't much I can do to emulate you now, but you have inspired me to improve the quality of my food and cook as much as I possibly can. That much I can do :D
Thank you again :)

Always enjoy your vids!!! I think I'm the first to say...Meg has become a Carolinian! Not once, but twice, I heard her say... "Y'All". :)
You are so lucky to have a wife like that, good mother, cook, helps with all the planting, very pleasant, I just love her.
Reading the comments shows me its not just me... You busted your butt in the mid day summer sun for so long, and everyone pipes up to how amazing Meg is. We get no recognition for our part, lol. MEG, I AGREE WITH YOU NO MATTER HOW BIG YOUR KITCHEN IS IT'S NEVER BIG ENOUGH. I LOVE TO COOK AND MY KITCHEN IS MY FAVORITE PLACE IN MY APARTMENT.
Dear Hollar family, wanted to add a suggestion to your beautiful tomato pie...my great grand mama would add a layer of thinly sliced potatoes, or thinly sliced squash and last but not least, spinach leaves instead of a pastry pie crust. My grandmother and mother were German Jew.
Her mom died 1921 during my mom's birth. My mom was the very BEST mom (mutter) Shalom✡️
Oh my goodness that sounds amazing!
Turns it into a ratatouille if you add squash and tators, I even add eggplant to mine.
This sounds so good also! Going to give it a try too!
Oh that's right! The starch in the potatoes would cling to the upper crust, while having a thickening effect on the tomato juice in the pie! I totally forgot that! It also adds to keeping the upper crust from getting sogged ...good input!

Heather I totally agree! Pastry of any sort is my nemesis, then I had to be gluten free! Now I make crust free or buy pastry. Meg is in NO way lazy!!
My MIL taught me a quick easy crust recipe 1/3 cup milk, 2/3 cup oil, 1 tsp salt and 2 cups flour makes 2 crust that are flaky
Can be pressed or rolled between wax paper and can be used for froozen pies
Your wife has the best and most genuine smile!
Love Meg’s comment - just finished editing, uploading it, put the baby down for a nap, made bread and now out to plant potatoes - she’s AMAZING
I had the same thought after her comment. She gets so much done in one day! I’m many years older than her but she’s truly an inspiration to me. ❤️
And then she cooked supper and helped with the evening chores & milking. Then probably gave the baby girl, Lilian, her bath & read her a story & rocked her to sleep. That's all after a full day's work.
Meg is amazing! She does it all! She's my kind of gal!
Lol Meg passed Ben very quickly on the row of potatoes. So glad to see the hats!
That biscuit crust sounds delicious!
@@loriwatts4449 Thank you for the extra info! 🙏🏻 Dumb question…how do you peel fresh tomatoes? Or do you blanch them to remove the skins?
@@Christina-ve2tv I use a very sharp knife or you can latch them. If it is out of season you can drain a jar of canned tomatoes or just use a drained can of diced tomatoes. You can have it all year! Do drain your Tomatoes well. You can save that vegetable broth and put it in a soup or a stew for a later meal. I tried to season every level lightly so I have good flavor throughout.
As much as you do in the kitchen alone, you are NOT lazy Meg!!
I planted hundred day corn in August one year. And it made a nice crop -to my amazement and in less than 100 days. It was a wonderful surprise!
Meg...You make that kitchen work great!!! It may be small...but its the Heart ❤ you put into it which makes it fantastic!! Love your family.
Love the look of your mayo.
I have never had a tomato pie, but it looks fantastic. Planting more potatoes is a great idea. 💕
WTG, Hollar Homestead!
lol!!!! We are living in a RV building our home, my kitchen is SO small!! 😀😀 You work with what you have.
That whole meal looks yummy, can’t wait to repeat it
I have loved you guys for so long...
I learn so much from random comments about things I didn't think I needed to know. Thanks!
I can attest to that fact. Called the fire dept because I could smell something in my vents.
Such a cute couple and great example to your children! 👍
Meg, you are the wife and mom I aspire to be one day! You’re amazing!
I know that was home made mayo you used on that tomato pie! I will be making that recipe this year for the first time! Can’t wait!
Your judgement was spot on to get the corn out and potatoes inn. Feeding a family is more important than a wait for nothing grow . Smart man. Many hello from our family in Oregon to your's.
I love your energies when you two are together! That’s true love ❤️
You guys have a beautiful family. Lots of love to you from Florida 🙂
Blessings to you all 🙏❤ 🙂
I am so trying the tomato pie. Looks delightful and no pie shell perfect fits my new life long eating (diet) thank you Meg have a safe 4th of July
For foolproof pie crust try the recipe from tenderflake lard and use about ½ cup less flour. Never had it fail. Don't over handle it. I would make the tomato pie without crust and it looks yum.
My Italian in-laws did tomato/onion/parsley salad. So simple . Delish!
With all the supply issues. Please order another mini split part to have on hand
Mrs Hollar , two words , Betty Crocker !!!!!! The easiest pie crust to make. Pull out of box , plop in pie pan, then add goodies then cook. Walaa!!!!
Not a problem with no sound. I watched it earlier without sound.....and now I'm watching with sound. Can't beat a double dose of Hollar in one day.
Every time you show Meg cooking I wish I could be invited to dinner. As it is I just sit here salivating. Thanks for the recipe!
I enjoy watching your homestead life. Trial and error for gardening. You seem to grow great things even with setbacks. Tomatoe pie !!! Yummy
Oh I’m totally trying that pie when my tomatoes are ready! This was my first year growing potatoes, they were great. I put more in the ground last week here in Ohio. Love watching you guys and Meg you are not lazy!!!!
Meg, I think you could have your own cooking channel!! I could watch you cook all day long!
Fantastic...more taboes to plant for Buggie!!!👍 Don't blame you for pulling up the corn. It obviously was stunted from lack or rain early on. So happy to see how you make tomato pie, Meg!! Thank you so much!🍅 Ben, you crack me up, "you're almost out of thyme!"🤣😆😂 Happy 4th to all of you!🇺🇸
Ya gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em. Know when to walk away, know when to run.
We use biscuits to make the "crust". Yum! Sprinkling bacon bits on top of the cheese.
Ooooh yes that would be so good!
I’ve used a layer of buttered bread crumbs instead of a pie crust in the bottom of my pie pan. Sort of think cheesecake with graham cracker crumbs.
Ben, the cow will love the corn. And, the milk will be awesome. Go easy at first.
Why would I watch this channel when I'm starving right now I will never know, but I did, have a great weekend
Making tomato pie for the 4th, what a great video.
We love Salmon (here in Oregon) My favorite way to fix it is to put in in a tin foil boat lots of butter lemon juice, and lemon pepper, close up tight and bake until flaky Yummmm
I love y'all! Happy 4th!
Looking forward to the tiny potato seeded harvest.
💚 Yum-O, that tomato pie looks great, definitely gonna try it! 🍅. I love watching the time-lapse rototilling 😅. 💚
A suggestion for your bucket of your tractor, place the bucket down, not up. So it doesn’t catch water, and start your rust deterioration.
Haha! I thought y’all were churning ice cream in the background. It sounds like our electric ice cream maker. I’m so enjoying your videos! Thanks so much! Here in West Texas we are in a terrible drought. Pray we get some rain soon! Blessings to all of you!!
I’ve never made a pie in my life, unless you count pizza. But, I think I’ll attempt your tomato pie. Thanks, Meg!
Happy 4th to all the Hollars!
OMG! I made your tomato pie recipe and have died and gone to heaven. Added fresh garlic to the cheese sauce. Thank you for giving me a slice
of heaven
I’m trying this tonight with tomatoes and basil from my garden. My onions aren’t ready yet either. 😆 I’m so excited to give this a try! And it’s good for low carb eating too. 👍🏻 Thanks for sharing with us! 💕
Whooo hoooo! Finally, the famous tomato pie recipe is here! Thanks so very much for sharing this Meg! I can hardly wait to try it!!
Good decision you didn’t want the corn cross pollinating…….can’t wait to see Buggy with a big old ear of corn! 🥰
