I'm a native English speaker and the concept of the subjunctive makes my head spin... I think it's something you just pick up over time
Marco Mark Productions I’m not a native and I have exam tomorrow..my head spins too. I’d rather didn’t have exam tomorrow😭
I am not a native English speaker, but I find the subjunctive mood quite easy. It needs a little bit of concentration so that you can learn the rules by heart and of course it requires a lot of practice on your part.
It doesn't matter if you were a native English speaker or not , This lesson was really amazing and I'd like to thank Miss Mino for this lesson because Her way on explaining and discussing made this lesson really easy.
I'm also a native english speaker, I'v studied other languages that use subjuntive. Due to that it's kinda easy to understand st least for me
I’m a native English speaker and I didn’t even know the subjunctive existed until I started studying French and had to learn about it
- If you want to make your recommendation simple say this: she should eat healthy food.
- If you want to make a formal recommendation use the present subjunctive and say this: it is necessary that she eat healthy food.
I just need to put this here. THANK YOU so much. You were one of the corner stones of my English learning. I use to watch your videos 5 years ago. Your informative videos help me a lot and they are one of the reasons why I can now fluently speak and understand. You may not see this but it doesn't matter. Thank you, thank you very much minoo
Thank you very much for posting this!
It makes me really happy to know that my lessons have been instrumental in your gaining such a high level of English.
May God bless You!! thank you very much for your beautiful heart for learners.
You're most welcome, Sam.
Splendidly delivered, explained and presented, Respected Mentor! Cordial gratefulness!
Thank you, Rizvan! I'm glad it was helpful to you.
The subjunctive mood is the Twilight Zone of language learning. Situations that are in the limit of existence. Things that are but are not, at the same time. One of the reasons why learning foreign languages is so interesting. It makes you thnk!
Very well put, Manuel! I fully agree.
Finally, I have just finished all of your's videos on the channel. Thank you so Much
My pleasure!
I really liked the examples you made as they incorporated plenty of practical phrases and idioms. I wish you did more exercises with such phrases. (E.g. to be in someone's shoes, to see through, etc.)
Thank you! Yes, I try to teach useful expressions within the grammatical structures.
Excellent. This is so valuable! Thank you very much!
You're very welcome.
Your lesson on this topic is so lucid and enjoyable.
This is great! I needed to get informed of this lesson. I wish that I discovered it earlier. If only it were possible to get back in time.
Thank you!
You're welcome! I'm glad it has been helpful!
THe teacher , for a non native speaker , has a most pleasant soothing accent and a delight to hear.
Thank you, Martin, for your lovely comment!
I came across your channel few weekes ago and I noticed you clarify a lot of things which I didn't find on other UA-cam channels, without any flattery you are one of the best teacher on UA-cam
thank you for your efforts.

Awesome, thank you!
Crystal clear and complete explanation. Thanks a lot
My pleasure!
Oh! You're an angel. Thank you so much for such wonderfull class.
You're most welcome.
I've been speaking English alongside my native tongue for as long as I can remember and never know knew about the subjunctive mood. I also used to use it without realising it, eg. "If I*were* in your place."
However, I was only introduced to the topic because of Spanish, as the subjunctive mood is a lot more prominent there.
Very interesting how learning a new language improves your previously learnt languages!!
Best Subjunctive explanation I've ever heard of seen!!! I recommend that she MAKE more videos like these!!! Hahaha!
Thank you, Eduardo! I will consider your beautifully formulated recommendation.
@@AngloLinkEnglish I wish I could understand it completely.
It's a very tricky subject because native speakers take many liberties with it. You don't really need it for daily communication. If you're doing a test and need to know it well, then it will help to make some notes for yourself and then try to teach it to someone else with your own examples. That's the most effective way of mastering anything.
@@AngloLinkEnglish Thank you very much for this lesson! The past subjunctive is more or less straight forward. However, the present subjunctive was a new concept for me. I’ve seen these constructions before and... Well, I was thinking that someone has just forgotten the -s at the end of the verb. Now I know what it is. That’s a great idea about teaching someone else! Fortunately, I know some fellow-artists who have no idea about present conjunctive. I’ll spread the word! Thanks again! Meanwhile, I’ll watch other lessons on your channel.
agreed!
you are really the best , continue with your great teaching , I’ll always support you!!
Thank you very much!
Something I haven't known before. Thank you very much!

Glad you liked it!
It was clearly explained. Thanks a lot!
My pleasure!
This video cleared all my doubts and has made me more skilled at using the Subjunctives.
I'm glad this has been helpful to you.
Great video! I have a quick comment on timestamp 5:00:
I am a native Midwestern English speaker.
We would actually say: I recommended he delays seeing a specialist.
But in terms of actual pronunciation:
I recuhmended he delays seein’ a specialist.
The that is optional, but gives off a tone of formality or intelligence. It also functions as a signifier if soft power.
Thank you, Elias!
Yes, I believe I do mention that in spoken English, one may hear the indicative form.
you're a genius, I understand everything thank u
You're very welcome, Mariana!
you are the best teacher thank you Ms. Anglo
Thank you very much!
Thank you very much .Большое спасибо за урок .
You're very welcome.
Very interesting! Thanks.
You're very welcome.
I watched many videos on subjunctive before your videos. They all just confused me. You made it sound so easy. Thank you
My pleasure, Pirah!
Love you, thanks for the video
You are very welcome!
Always informative, clearly defined and practical
Many thanks!
That was really good. Thank you. Since the lesson is so hard, it's not a bad idea to include some examples from the news in your lesson.
Thank you, Sadegh! I'm glad you've enjoyed this lesson.
It's always delicate to use authentic material in YT videos because of copyright issues. That's why I prefer to come up with my own examples. Also, I find that when we're learning a complex structure for the first time, it's best to keep the vocabulary relatively simple so that the focus remains on the structure.
Thanks very much. It is clear explanition
You are very welcome!
Thank you Teacher Mino.
You are welcome!
Excellent.Ma'am.you have explained it very nicely.
Thanks a lot, Rajender!
Thanks. Really learned for good!
Glad to hear it!
@@AngloLinkEnglish Really really love you!!!! Your contribution is beyond gratitude!!!
Hi ma’am.
Thank you for this useful lesson. I was going to ask you about this grammar. As always you’re the best.
You're very welcome, Sajjad!
In last I want to say thanks for all your professional slide that you have prepared furthermore your teaching style is so formal can't believe that you have made so much effort and videos ate freely available thanks for all once again (y)
Thank you! I appreciate your kind comment, and am glad you've benefited form this lesson.
😊😊 keep making such helpful videos
Thank you from Romania!
You're welcome!
Excellent job! If I were a student, I would treasure this teacher. ( subjunctive present )
Thanks a lot!
It's true. The subjunctive in present is hardly ever used in British English. It would be: 'I recommend that she sees a specialist.'
BUT we do used this in past. 'I recommended that she see a specialist.'
Great lesson!
Thank you!
*I recommend that she see a specialist
This is fantastic! Thank you so much for this video. I have been trying to explain to my French students what the heck the subjunctive is in English and this is as clear and easy to follow as any example that I;ve heard! Thanks again!
You're welcome, Jonathan. I'm glad this has helped your students.
I'm not a native. Strangely, another day I was writing something in English and, for some reason, I felt that I shouldn't conjugate a verb because of some hypothetical sense in that context, but I didn't know why. Today I'm checking this out. Thanks a lot. Great video!
Excellent! I'm glad that this video has allowed you to validate your hunch!
@@AngloLinkEnglish hey, maybe you can help with another thing. I never know if I have to say "to me" or "for me" when I want to express opinion; for example, replacing "in my opinion". Should I say "for me your video is great"? Or "to me"...? Is there any difference? I know that in some cases "for" may mean benefit. Thanks in advance.
I wish I could give you a clear-cut answer, but I'm afraid I can't. As with all prepositions, things are vague with 'to' and 'for'. Sometimes, they both work: That's useful TO/FOR me. Sometimes, only one is correct: That sounds good TO me. That works FOR me.
@@AngloLinkEnglish that's okay. Greetings from Brazil!
Subjunctive is complicated to understand. Thank you for teaching me, ....
You are welcome!
Clearly explanation, dear teacher.
Glad it was helpful!
It is essential I learn this grammar.
Excellent explanation. I'm also teacher of the english language. But a beginner))) I totally understood Subjunctive Mood but had difficulties in explaining it to students. Thanks to you, I know how to do it now🥰
Excellent! I'm glad this has been helpful to you.

@@AngloLinkEnglish ok,thank u very much for these lessons. They're really helpful for non-native speakers. Greetings from Azerbaijan🌷🌷🌷🌷
Amazing as usual
Many thanks.
It is important that everyone explain subjunctive as clearly as you do. :) I learned something new today, thanks.
P. S. I would have thought that British English used Present Subjunctive more than US English. On account Britts being more formal in their everyday lives.
P. P. S. "When I
used to live in France, were I to meet an intelligent man I immediately sought his company. If that
be foolish ... Ah, I see you smile at that use of the subjunctive. I confess my weakness for that mood
and for fine speech in general. A weakness that I criticize in myself, believe me... Smiling at the use of the subjunctive, in fact, proves your culture twice over
because you recognize it to begin with and then because you feel superior to it." Camus - The Fall
You're most welcome, Stevo!
You're right; it's strange that Brits hardly ever use the Present Subjunctive while it's the more formal sounding option.
one of the best teacher of course
Thank you!
Good to see you again Minoo.
Your lesson is excellent!
Thank you very much!

Thank you !!
You're welcome!
I'm Spanish and we use quite a lot the subjunctive but I thought this didn't exist in English. I've just realised reading some books from natives speakers. Great explanations by the way!
Thank you, Jose! I'm glad it's been helpful.
I spotted it right away with the UK anthem
"God save the Queen"
it's save no saves
@@tinzka no that’s the imperative because it’s us asking god to save the queen :)
@@Cat.205 Nope, that's not imperative. It's Formulaic Subjunctive. ;)
