Right now, I've watched your video two times. There are too many rules. If I can't remember all of them I always make some mistakes. But if I use the expressions by heart (insert what sounds better to me) I always get the right answer. The best approach to make no mistakes is to hear a lot of English so that you get a feeling of what is right or wrong.
Hello Ralf, I believe that a combination of the two approached (some study & a lot of exposure) is the best strategy as it covers both styles of learning.
Maybe this is the wrong video to ask, but I can not find the answer to this question no matter where I look. It deals with adverbs.. Which is correct below? He brought up his sword - or - he brought his sword up. Take out the dog - or - take the dog out. I've seen/heard it used for both..
Both versions are correct because these are 'separable' phrasal verbs. You can learn more about this topic in this lesson: ua-cam.com/video/WHwxdtT302I/v-deo.html
Firstly, thank you for the lesson. Secondly, i answerd all the question in the exercice just by kowing that's the one , like you know it .maybe , this comes with reading and writng english but ty for all.
Hi Ms, Please give an explanation, is it correct as your example "He's a wonderfully good singer"? Climate change has initially had certain (certainly) positive impacts?
This what I am looking for was accompanied by verb with Ed past tense that breaks s +was/were + verb+ Ing I was so confused in this part, now you had given an example "was+ verb + Ed " that breaks the grammar rule mam thank you how could it be.
was/ were + verb + ing >> Past Continuous in the Active form: I was cleaning the room. was/were + verb + ed >> Past Simple in the Passive form: The room was cleaned. If you'd like to study the Passive forms, you can watch my lesson called 'Passive Voice'.
We made slow progress. There is no definitive or indefinite article before slow. However, in the sentence " He is an interesting person" there is an article before interesting. Why there is indefinite article in one of the sentence and in the other not? Thank you.
Hi dear Anglo, I am kind of confusing the few word you're mentioning not to add " ly " for adjectives to become an adverbs for example : late , hard .etc.. But , I hear that someone said " lately , hardly " .. Please let me know . Thank you
That was really nice/ that was real nice. Come quick/ come quickly. This computer is running slowly/slow He don’t speak loud enough/loudly. Can you please me which correct in this sentence ?? Or are they both correct to use thank.
The correct form in all these examples is the adverb: really, quickly, slowly, loudly. However, in informal spoken English, some natives (but not all) may use the adjective.
I am confused. In the sentence "The bread smells good" You said that good is adjective, because it describes the smell of the bread. But in the sentence we have a verb "smells" not a noun. Moreover we ask- How smells the bread? and not What? So shouldn't be an adverb?
Should I use adverb and adjective with "used to" example I used to go to school is correct but I always used to go to school is a wrong sentence. She was beautiful girl is correct but she used to a beautiful girl is wrong please explain.
