- Buying a commercial building in Detroit that is located less than 10 minutes away from downtown for just $6,500 dollars may sound like a bargain... But in this case, it was more of a lesson learned. In 2017 we bought a 2000 sq. ft building on Gratiot Avenue that once housed the Black Horse Saloon which was Bert Dearing Jr’s very first jazz club back in the late 60's and 70's.
Unfortunately, due to the amount of rehab needed, we decided to sell the building and move on. With this being said, we wanted to share with you some of the reasons regarding why we bought the property, and why we eventually decided to not move forward with bringing it back to its glory days.

Bro said, "it needed a little attention". LOL
Such a transparent video. I especially enjoyed when you summarized your experience by saying, “Lessons were definitely learned.”
You are trying to love a place that will never love you back, nothing ever changes there.
You're a Living Legend my Brother. Continue to work the vision. I salute your perseverance and drive on even tackling such a project. Continue to inspire!

Lessons learned! Thanks for sharing
Great honest video. You never lose, you only win or learn.
Great video Edward! Learned a lot from this one - Paul
Thank you for this video, lots to learn from it.
Good info. Did you look into the city programs for renovating blighted buildings I know there's quite a few that will help to pay for/ reimburse expenses depending on the location.
Hey you tried! Lessons were learned and I’m excited to see your next project.
This really makes me wanna move to Detroit so badly but I'm glad that you are turning the city around to make a come back I would be so proud of my second hometown.
Stay where you are you'll be glad you did. Don't believe the hype, Detroit is disgusting.
@@artaxerxes2363 GenZ Hipsters are flocking there, you
could be wrong!!!!!!!!!!!
Really great information here
That is a beautiful building. so much potential. But you are right about the cost.
The blight threats are so infuriating because that’s the city’s responsibility when it’s their land.
You did a good job, lessons learned and you made it better for the next person, thats purpose! Does the city have dumping companies that can repurpose and shred garbage.?
Great job, you did not go too deep into it before realizing
it would be better to bail sooner, rather than later.
How did you run across the building
How do I go about buying cheap and abandoned homes and properties in Detroit.???
what did you sell the property for?
How much did you sell it for?
This was excellent I wish you would’ve been inspired to complete the white box portion would’ve made for great content and maybe wouldn’t e cost so much to finish using different products and plans ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Astronomical costs to just get that building safe and functional.
you never said how much you sold it for ??????????????????????????
The city tells you clean a property that doesn’t belong to you, and you do it????
In this case, yes, unfortunately.
Sorry you took the chance, and got smacked. I was born in Detroit, but rarely go back.
