I met Jon when he was working as a bar back at the Hawk and Dove in Washington DC - it was right when he got hired by Royal Trux - one of the greatest bands ever...
The slight change Jon does in his kick drum pattern from Josh's 3:44 solo to Troy's solo 4:01, especially in this last one, is beautiful. He makes them feel like two completely different parts.
Jon is a fucking animal with two sticks and a drum kit... It's crazy how good this band is... I keep playing new songs I've never heard before and can't get enough
John Theodore, formerly in The Mars Volta, is considered one of the better drummers playing today! Excited to see what he will bring to the next QOTSA album.
Joar de Baat personally I think Jon done a really great job on Villains. No need to doubt his talent of a drummer. But personally I think all the songs are better live (especially The Way You Used To Do, he does a shit ton of fills throughout and it’s just cool)
i think thats mostly because of the "compact" drum sound on the record. It doesnt sound as ballsy as his live performance. Not his fault tho. I do like the record btw.
Beloved church band manifesting one of my all time favorite church songs. Been listening to the old version a lot and appreciating this adapted version. It’s still nice and dark. For me, I like how the sense of suspense has taken on a more cleaned up and cinematic quality. Interesting. 👌 😌
+Henry Soney nothing wrong with the speed i dont think. love the gritty guitar tone from josh tho. but yea over the years and thru the woods (i think thats what u mean) is pretty good \m/
for no IEMS with a click, they are so incredibly tight here, not even a single beat off, and even doing that trash can-esq break around 5:40, mind blowing the whole song
Faris Sami, Troy has the volume turned all the way down on one of his guitar's pickups, when he plays that cool little staccato stuttering lick, he's switching back and forth really fast so it sounds like his guitar is cutting in and out. Sounds rad!
A Song for the Dead Queens of the Stone Age It's late enough to go drivin And see what's mine That's a study of dying How to do it right You're a holy roller Get your bed in the loose If you're hanging around I'm holdin' the noose Come a little bit closer And get on tight In a horse rollin' over Just a track in the line Fuck it Come on, let's go drivin' Come on, let's take a little ride That's the study of dying How to do it right Songwriters: Josh Homme / Mark William Lanegan / Nick Oliveri
I'm glad they're doing the back of vocals don't mean to be a hater man I just don't think the new drummers got it I know he's technically really great but that's not what Queens of the Stone Age needs they need Joey back
Fk Someone’s physically big That intro And still, unmoving stature There’s other things emoting Watch out Fk the dam You either go or fall under Well shot
Jon Theodore fits this band like a damn glove
Totally. Stuff he did with Royal Trux was solid too
Have you seen in the basement? Unbelievable...
I met Jon when he was working as a bar back at the Hawk and Dove in Washington DC - it was right when he got hired by Royal Trux - one of the greatest bands ever...
Lanegan’s absence as lead singer is so profound on this song. He was one of the greatest American singers of all time.
i love this anyway
R.I.P. Lanegan
Much Love Much Respect...
Yep
Fuck yes.
Absolutely
0:47 Had to acknowledge that sick ass guitar tone and riff. Still sounds nastier than ever 20 years later
Bro I know right, so much menace has been poured into that guitar tone, it sounds like it has teeth
Best song of QOTSA !
queens of the stone oge
+Armando Netto Queens Of The Stone Ooze?
+Mathieu Mazon Quiet Ostriches tango sadly offbeat?
Better now ? ;)
Rob Koutz accurate description of the crowd

You can hear their guitars asking for mercy!! Holy Shit!!
250 million years from now, that hi-hat will still be going.
Best song for me too and also best live performance of this song.
Cheers from the Netherlands.
I Concur

Jon is a fucking animal with two sticks and a drum kit... It's crazy how good this band is... I keep playing new songs I've never heard before and can't get enough

3:43 the best part of this song
A p p l e D p the lovely fulltone ultimate octave
At 6:47, they still do the little confused "WHAT?!" before coming back in. Goddamn, what a show.
Love that little gig/reference
That drummers really good
John Theodore, formerly in The Mars Volta, is considered one of the better drummers playing today! Excited to see what he will bring to the next QOTSA album.
looking back on your comment. what do you think?

@@joardebaat2559 yeah, Jon did really well with what he could on Villains. Unfortunately the myriad other issues of the album kind of obscured that.

Música show !

São Paulo 2024.
They are literally trolling the crowd lol
Tightest live band to ever grace us
godly, i just wish they would let mickey do vocals - he can actually scream like a monster
Lol, the swigs of Patron before the song.
best performance of this song i swear to god. "C'mon you spoiled motherfuckers"
+Slash Rocks seems a little too slow for my tasting. I'll always like the Over the Years and Far Away performance.
+Henry Soney nothing wrong with the speed i dont think. love the gritty guitar tone from josh tho. but yea over the years and thru the woods (i think thats what u mean) is pretty good \m/
Love this Ginger Elvis 🧡
Screaming Trees prepared us for this.
1:55 Josh should always play this part
Still in 2021 one hell of a Song...
Still awesome in 2022, and til the end of time

Love love
for no IEMS with a click, they are so incredibly tight here, not even a single beat off, and even doing that trash can-esq break around 5:40, mind blowing the whole song

Hi
Best live version I have ever seen!
F...... rock gods!
4:20 John Theodores eyes light up because he so fucking lit
RIP mark Lanegan
So what goes on at 3:05 with the guitar sound ?
Faris Sami, Troy has the volume turned all the way down on one of his guitar's pickups, when he plays that cool little staccato stuttering lick, he's switching back and forth really fast so it sounds like his guitar is cutting in and out. Sounds rad!
To put it simply, the killswitch effect :b
A tear in the reality curtain
mattvgyo throw in a bend and you're there!
Fucking unbelievable
🎉
There's a track in the line!
Finally this band is back in tempo. The previous drummer likes to speed everyone up. I prefer Jon and Grohl on drums
Love love 💕 Josh forever
I love Troy’s skidding car Vs Josh’s Woolly mammoth.
Are those guitar pedals?
Love
Handsome bastard
By the way.... unbelievable!!!!!

A Song for the Dead
Queens of the Stone Age
It's late enough to go drivin
And see what's mine
That's a study of dying
How to do it right
You're a holy roller
Get your bed in the loose
If you're hanging around
I'm holdin' the noose
Come a little bit closer
And get on tight
In a horse rollin' over
Just a track in the line
Fuck it
Come on, let's go drivin'
Come on, let's take a little ride
That's the study of dying
How to do it right
Songwriters: Josh Homme / Mark William Lanegan / Nick Oliveri
Fuck I love Josh 🖤🖤
♥
Tune
I'm assuming that Josh has an immense power over the crowd during the intro of this song 😳
The last actual fucking ROCK Band!!!! 100% Badassery.
this song is so great - but like heavy sports to play ;-)
c est Fou toute la vie qu amène la chanson pour le morts!!!
Get a little closer get on board love josh
I wonder how this song would sound with double bass drums
Probably not as good, I think the single kick let's the song breathe and adds groove, double bass would sound too crowded
Ginger Elvis 😍
thats my national anthem
the grateful dead?
So so in love with Josh Damm love this fucking song 🖤🖤
Oh me too sister! That man is something special.
godly

I'm glad they're doing the back of vocals don't mean to be a hater man I just don't think the new drummers got it I know he's technically really great but that's not what Queens of the Stone Age needs they need Joey back
I prefer it with Mark but is ok
Bro are you still bringing up shit from 12 years ago LOL
Love love this song fuck
Joey castillo >>>
Nah jon theodore is so much better in my opinion
Not the same without Lanegan singing
You right, homie. Song still kicks ass. Not the same without his vocals.
How come you let go a drummer like Jon Theodore.... I cant understand
Uh, they haven't...
Ya no go without Lanagan
Fk
Someone’s physically big
That intro
And still, unmoving stature
There’s other things emoting
Watch out
Fk the dam
You either go or fall under
Well shot
Im sorry but he cant sing it like the other guy, sure,he's alright i suppose but he doesnt do this song much justice, unfortunately
The other guy? lol
@@jasonhyland5752 The lead singer,or the guy who sung this song before live,he sounds much better, I know nothing about em other than this song
Lose the keyboards
Didnt sound too bad til Josh opened his mouth, all downhill from there
