With Helaena specifically, the show omitted a scene where in the books, Alicent specifically crowns Helaena right after Aegon and declares her "Queen". So no, Helaena is not a consort of any kind

What I don't get is how do these people not know rats can be associated with traitors, spies and sellouts? When she says the rats, she's not talking about the actual rats. But the spies and traitors who are loyal to the Blacks. Waiting for orders to strike against the Greens. Or those who would turn traitor if they are paid well enough.

Its not foreshadowing. Her "autism" is actually her being able to see the future. The entire war was prophesized by her while she was playing with bugs in season 1.

If he had lived and the Dance didn't happen, Aegon should of waited until his son was a little older with more self discipline and restraint.

I pretty appreciate that even though Aegon is not very fond of his wife/sister he still handles her with respect and dignity, not humiliating her for her weird behavior, but rather tries to skhake up the mood.
Being forced to be made king made Aegon do a complete 180. From being a drunkard ra*ist who tries to avoid responsibilities. To trying to be a decent king, no longer harms the maids, respects his sister/wife and does his best to be a good dad. Only for it to be flushed down the toilet when his son is killed. Then he becomes the stuff of nightmares.
Hope this continues. Helaena is said to be going insane in the books after the whole Blood and Cheese incident but I’m surprised how nice they showed Aegon towards her so far. They are doing some changes to portray him to be a nicer person. Not sure if that will change in the later episodes.
We will find out tonight but I suspect they played aegon is kind of mellow here - with genuine affection for his wife- because he’s about to rage with the death of his son. Rage.

By the time Viserys' father died, Rhaenys had matured into a mother of two- including a son, & was connected to the wealthiest house in Westeros - so this time, Jaehaerys choice of heir eventually had to be decided between to the adult son of his younger son, or the still underage grandson of his eldest son (as Rhaenys & Laena were both eventually bypassed, as were other potential female, & underage heirs) - hence the Great Council of 101, which apparently established the precedent (that had been forming over time) of the Iron Throne only passing in the senior male line, not to females- nor males of female lines, unless there were *_no other heirs_* . I think _this_ is the problem of starting the story part-way through; the amount of back-tracking that needs to be retroactively done, to make the audience see how we got to this point- & it's been compounded by how much streamlining has occurred- some streamlining will always happen in an adaptation, but when it's overdone- it risks incongruence..

Maids and servants bend their heads when the monarch comes into the room. They're not allowed to look him in the eye. Has nothing to do with Dyana, give it a rest please. And besides, this is all Larys' staff.

When Aegon says "the Queen is en enduring mystery, is she not?" : There are only maids around and knowing what we know about him from season 1, he could simply jump on the occasion to belittle her after her cryptic quote. Yet he chose not to and instead dissipate the moment with some kind of poetic rethoric question who needs no answer, refering to her with the dignity of her title... This is him truly trying his best to be a "good" husband.
I think Aegon and Helaena's relationship isn't as bad as people thought based on season 1. I think it's more like they both didn't want to be married but had to and then have these children who they love. But they both leave each other alone and give each other space. Maybe they do leave affection and care for each other but in a sibling way.

Aegon is not my favourite character, but I think he behaved here normally,and this was a fine reaction.
