Hashirama was amazing in Shippuden.
I simply think hes an idiot. Then again, who took the position of Hokage and didn't have hes own share of Idiosyncrasies?
Another great video, sage rain
A true God of Shinobi
Sasuke vid when?
Hashirama knew Madara's weakness much better than anyone. Which is, standing behind Madara.
He's like the fighter equivalent of a turtle on its back
honestly. my headcanon is this is true in a symbolic way, he never expected someone so close to him to betray him or attack from behind, his friend first then what he thought was "his own will" betrays him. I believe the parallel was probably unintentional that the 2 shown losses are from behind
So did Zetsu apparently.
@@jonathansolares8065 Absolutely intentional imo
I can help but laugh when I saw this comment! Good one!
The sad thing is that Madara was both right and wrong. He knew that Hashirama's ideal of peace would never work. And he was wrong with Infinite Tsukuyomi
MADARA WASN'T RIGHT ABOUT ANYTHING, HE WAS A LUNATIC THAT KILLED PEOPLE THEN TOOK AN L AND COULDN'T HANDLE IT.

Hashirama: " I'll kill anyone who threatens the village or peace!"
Madara: " You sound like our fathers."
I often think about how the future would play out if this exchange happened during their final battle
Yet the fandom shits on Naruto for not giving up on Sasuke and not taking the "rational" decision of killing him off. 🤷🤷
@@karthiknarayanan3705 They seem to call it Naruto "forcing" a friendship when in reality it was Naruto trying to save his friend from going down the wrong path. Sasuke never actually said Naruto is no longer his friend. He simply said having such emotions gets in the way of his vengeance. It would be like if you just accepted that your friend cut ties with you because they were too invested in their drug addiction versus trying to get him clean.

Irony is that in hashirama building the village he just repackaged the system in which he was born into

Moreover, the village itself institutionalized it and took it to a next level.
@@lastzulu180 The whole reason he made the village is so kids wouldnt need to kill each other
But the village still did use child soldiers and kills children(Itachi wiping out his clan) to preserve peace
I agree to an extent. He might have repackaged the system, but I’m not sure if such drastic change was capable of happening in one generation. This is why I like Hashirama and Madara’s last talk cause they acknowledge that they couldn’t solve all the problems in the shinobi world single handedly, they needed to carry their ideals to the next generation so that they can pick up the work.
Hashirama shows that true power is not savage and ruthless but caring and nurturing
He was strong enough to be gentle
A true father provides both structure and encouragement

Hashirama was also the one who started the tradition of turning people into jinchuriki, starting with _his own wife_ . And we know how much suffering *that* caused, not only for the jinchuriki but also for the tailed beasts and those around them.
Did he plan to use his wife as a weapon of war? We don't know. He could have simply wanted to contain and monitor the nine tails. Harishama did tell Kurama that he was too dangerous to be left alone. I feel like that was a mistake. I want to believe the Hashirama felt this way about Kurama primarily because Madara mind controlled the nine tails to fight Hashirama.
Hashirama is an idiot like the sage of the six paths who give humans that kill each power and used that power to kill each other they didn't use it to understand each other indra his son said and he was right Hashirama like the sage of six paths made things worse with jinchuriki and shinobi system that is the problem with ashura and Hashirama and naruto thier ideologies is too naive and idealistic they think that friendship can solve every problem indra had more realistic ideologie with power he means that thier should be law order and rules just because he disagree with thier naive ideology they called him evill just because he had a different opinion
Actually, it was stated that SHE sealed Kurama in herself mid fight with Madara. Reminder that Madara alone was problem, if he got hold of Kurama again(In Manga Madara destroyed all of Buddha arms, so Hashi would be at disadvantage), Hashirama would probably lose. So it was smart decision
Good point. Hashirama maked suffer his "wife.
Now... imagine Mito was Madara's girlfriend and they was just running away.
And Hashirama killed Madara to bring back Mito, the first jinchuuriki, to the Village in order to preserve the newborned "System" of Bijuus to seal on Jinchuurikies
People... really don't get it. The story of the Valley of End... it's just a version. HASHIRAMA's version (when he talk to Sasuke).
Madara never spoked about the Valley of the End. We don't know Madara's version. If Mito was Madara's girlfriend, if they was in love and just running away, and then if Hashirama is the Tyrant who sacrificied their Love for a System and a selfish/wrong idea of peace.
Maybe... Will of Fire is just HELL. Just a endless sacrifice to feed a hellish System.

I have been thinking about the "I will protect the village, even if it means I have to kill my own brother" statement by Hashirama and Madara's reply "No, you got it all wrong. The village was meant to protect your brother" since it was released all those years ago. I am still not sure who was (more) right
I agree with madrara he was right end 33 proves it
When Madara brought nine tails to the village to kill everyone who lives within Madara left Hashirama with no choice but to kill Madara. Madara forced Hashirama into that position. If your brother turns against you and tempts to kill your family and neighbors, Are you just going to let him do it? No. The fault isn't solely on Hashirama's shoulders but Madara as well.
Hashirama really lived up to his word though. 😌
For someone called the God of Shinobi... I wish we saw more of Hashirama's backstory.
Please dont ask for more flashbacks, haha.
yh I was voting for him in the naruto poll but sad he didn't win, still gassed to see Minato tho
Hashirama is SO legendary that no one knows how he died.
Probably because of old age because when Edo Madara used wood release Tsunade knew and explained every jutsu and when hashirama saw Sakura he said that she's stronger than Tsunade
He lived a long life
@@Planetdestroyer.138 The thing is: it's stated that the edo tensei brings you back as you died, the only exception is Madara as Kabuto modified him, he told Obito that he worked so hard in Madara's body, Hirusen on the other hand was brought back as an old man for example

Although others might think he was a moron at points when being the first hokage (like talking to the other chiefs from other villages) , he is a man that wanted to be as peaceful as possible to everyone. Especially after so many years of war, he didn't want others to feel the lose he did. To a point he even was willing to die even if there was a chance at peace. To that I commend him for his efforts.
Right.
Do people keep forgetting that he lost two of his brothers and had an asshole of a father?

@@wwe12153 He's not a Mary Sue. He struggles a lot, gets depressed easily, loses most of his direct family and can't even keep his best friend in the village. His brother makes most of his political decisions for him. Yes he's powerful and the greatest hokage to ever exist but he's got his flaws.
This comment deserves a LOT more attention
I think it's inherently beautiful when powerful characters are shown to be flawed individuals since it's what gives the audience the ability to relate with them.
I realized that Danzō was the type of guy who would twist Hashirama's ideology for peace.
Danzo is actually a perfect embodiment of the contradiction Madara mentioned. Wanting to protect the village and peace, yet craving war and power, also Hashirama praised Itachi, so I'd imagine he'd give props to Danzo as well
Danzo personifies the failings of the OG set of Hokage. He has Hashirama's ideology, Tobirama's general outlook and compensates for Sarutobi's weakness.
@@thewanderingronin5433 complete bs, if madara didnt leave the village and also create obito later, the Uchias would likely not plan a coup. I like how u all say that while taking away any responsibility from Madara. And Im by no mean justifying Itachi or specially Danzos actions...

Every ninja in the series struggles with the contradiction between “being a ninja” and “being a person” but none struggle as hard as Hashirama. He wants to love, he wants to see life flourish, he wants to be surrounded by his friends. But in order to do any of that, he is convinced that he needs to sever bonds to protect what truly matters. I think that’s why he admired Itachi so much and was so charitable to Sasuke. Itachi was always able to put his village before his bonds, something that Hashirama struggled to do until he killed Madara. The problem is that Hashirama doesn’t even see the cruel irony in saying this in front of Sasuke, whose life was ruined by this. When you start seeing “the village” as your child, it’s easy to ignore all of the actual children dying to support it.
Its funny, in a very dark way, but I think meeting Hashirama is what convinces Sasuke to kill all Kage. This isn’t a Leaf problem, it’s a problem with anyone who puts the existence of their village above the lives of the people in the village. If Hashirama couldn’t get it, why would his granddaughter or Onoki or Mei get it?
You speak with conviction. The points you bring up are accurate, I cannot contradict that. However.... despite the validity of your concerns...you are wrong. I will not elaborate. Farewell.
“But these errors show us that even the god of shinobi is not above any man”

It’s wild how listening to these synopses part of me feels like he’s talking about real people. You got a gift there bro. Keep it up
Knowing all this makes Naruto and Sasuke's story even more poetic. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I understood Hashirama wanting peace, but it would've never worked out. Everyone has their own mind and not everyone shares Hashirama's ideology of wanting peace.
I agree to partly. I think most people who fought battles or suffered from war want peace. However, he was on the winning side with a large country, so enough resources for them. It was never stated but I guess those wars started, because there were not enough resources. So, it was easy to say for him that it is not worth it anymore
But everyone wants to see tomorrow
Hashirama was strong but not strong enough to outlast Tobirama's verbal abuse.
Hashirama is really an underrated character when it comes to breaking down characters from the series. The man had a heart when had every reason not to. The compassion and openhanded nature of Hashirama was something i feel is overlooked in the fandom. This man was a true visionary in his world
Hashirama is probably one of my favorite characters if not the favorite of the entire naruto series for me . Strong and kind. Honestly i love both the 1st and second.
You missed a huge point the will of fire was supposed to be passed down for future generations.
So they can achieve what hashirama and madara couldn't. Which eventually brought piece with naruto.
Having peace in the shinobi world is such a contradiction because it IS the shinobi world. To be a shinobi is to be a person that lives alongside conflict (not to say no one lives without conflict). It's tied to the core of their being. The system of ninja education, ninja missions, jutsu, torture, etc. To be a shinobi is basically utilize one's violent/manipulative services to someone's benefit or use them to counter other ninjas. One could argue that if there was peace in the shinobi world, the shinobi world would die cuz peace makes them obsolete... now I'm starting to sound like an Infinite Tsukuyomi advocate 😂
It's like that 2-question quiz from the HxH Hunter exam. No right answer, but no one gets to slide with just being silent here. A side must be taken.
Madrara was right end 33 proves the shnobi system hashirama created is hell

@@dytgyfgyffuh243 You have a point. I think village system was better than chaos from Hashiramas time.
It is based on Japanese feudal war period Sengoku Jidai. Villages and daimyo provide safety for children and civilians and put the risk on adult shinobi. It is better than before but shinobi is raised for battle anyway.
It is the same as today when a government choose to start a war people suffers. Someone must become soldiers to protect his people if this happens.

If Hashirama saw Black Zetsu stab Madara... even he would call that lazy writing.
No matter the era there was always gonna be war, bloodshed, loss, hate, distrust, separation, etc. The fact that the villages themselves (specifically Konoha) were created in the hopes of having a dwelling place for the citizens to be able to live without the fear of being killed day after day like in the past.
Unfortunately, Hashirama and Madara’s dreams shifted and they no longer could see eye to eye when it came to the ideologies and future of the village that it lead to them fighting each other even after “peace” was made. There will always be the cycle of fighting, killing, and war just like the first sentence I wrote.
So, Pain was right after all
Many of villains were right pain was right about the cycle of hatred madrara was right about the shnobi system being hell zabuza was right about shnobi being used by thier village and people and neji was right about destiny naruto is the child of destiny they had a better understanding about life than naruto his too naive and idealistic
Madara:
People disagree Peace, and yet on the other hand they create conflict as well.
That duality is mankind for you. They want peace and to discard only conflict.
Would in fact cause people to stop being people. And those two things stand together side by side.
Madara's biggest mistake was shaking hands with Hashirama and founding the village, he was too blinded by his charisma to see what's looming on the horizon for his clan. Izuna was more perceptive and if he was alive he'd see through the Senju deception.
And his second biggest mistake was leaving the clan headless and leaderless to Tobirama's mercy.
To be fair to Madara, Hashirama would have killed himself to ensure peace between Senju and Uchiha. Madara still considered Hashirama a friend deep down. Also Madara shaking hands with Hashirama safely secured peace for the Uchiha clan. If Tobirama took over as clan head instead of Hashirama, I highly doubt Tobirama would not guarantee peace between the Senju and Uchiha. As far as Madara leaving the clan headless and leaderless, the Uchiha clan turned its back on Madara and even if Madara left the clan, someone else probably took over as clan head. Fugaku was a clan head so someone else definitely took leadership after Madara left.
You're actually pretty wrong the problem was not the village the problem was the second hokage because he cannot let go of his anger and hatred
You forget that the Uchiha's themselves didn't like Madara and his ways. Hashirama was voted in as Hokage by majority Uchiha and Senju. Everyone was tired of war and fighting and so wanted to come together to usher in peace, something Madara couldn't accept. If he genuinely worked with Hashirama without ulterior motives to better the village, things genuinely wouldn't have gone so wrong. The reason the Uchiha have such a bad reputation is Madara's fault, with him controlling the Nine tails and fighting against the Hokage
@@lastzulu180Tobirama didn't hate the Uchiha, he understood them more than anyone else hence why he knows that the Uchiha as a clan are driven by love, even more so than Senju. He made them police because he knew that a Sharingan is good for stopping violence in the village without a need to fight via genjitsu. Madara was the reason the Uchiha weren't trusted, made worse when Obito attacked the village. If Madara had been a good leader for the Uchiha, the clan would've been very respected and not faced discrimination since he's the one who took control of the nine tails and attacked the first Hokage, then is the reason things like the Akatsuki happened etc so the blame can't go to Tobirama when in all honesty, he didn't do much
@@mawandembatha6622 you're forgetting a few things the second hokage made them the police to make sure they did not have any actual power in the village he even said that himself 😔 😔 which was alienation
Kishimoto is one of the best writers of all time. This Naruto anime is a masterpiece
he really isn't tbh.
Imagine if the Uchiha Clan left the Leaf when Madara did.
I think when, ultimately, Sasuke was telling the previous Hokage about Itachi and him finding out about the 4th Great Shinobi war, Hashirama acknowledged his mistake and realized what Madara meant. It's definitely reflected in his final conversation with Madara and his praise for Itachi.
these videos genuinely are some of my favourites ever simply because of how you present these topics so maturely, thank you
Naruto. The anime where everyone is flawed. Everyone has strength. Everyone will eventually break.
ultimately hashirama became a cog in the cycle of hatred. helped foster a new version it
Hashirama: I love the Uchiha! 😀
Tobirama: I hate the Uchiha. 😠
It's sad. I feel like if Hashirama had stood up to Tobirama and stay by Madara's side, that maybe the Uchiha massacre down the line could've been prevented.
Remember when Hiruzen fought Orochimaru, Hashirama and Tobirama...one of the Anbu called Hashirama's Wood Style, "Super Earth Style!" 😂
Hashirama: Let's make Madara Hokage after me.
Tobirama: Hell no!
I wish we got a spinoff on Hashirama.
We may have never seen it, but I think it's fair to say that whether it be through election or some other selection process naruto was elected Hokage by the people, all the people the world over. The shinobi, the civilians, the allied nations, even enemies to an extent, none could deny his power but mainly nome could deny his good nature and complete dedication to peace not just for the collective but for the individual well
I believe Narutos villains have a point too.
Zabuza raised as a weapon by Kirigakure. He run away from their terrible practices.
Sasori traumatized by his parants deaths and trying to achieve immortality.
Kakuzu was betrayed by his village elders and given an impossible mission he is trying to escape his insecurities by having more money and gaining peoples hearts😄
Kisame tired of lies and seeking the world there will be no lies anymore.
Nagato was trying to achieve peace wat traumatized to much by the big nations he is trying to achieve peace by making them feel true pain.
Madara is seeing people are stupid and greedy so he wants to control everyone by Infinite Tsukuyomi so no one can start wars.
But Hidan is a radical cultist psychopath and Deidara is a terrorist they dont have such noble ideals😆
I think they are all great characters in the end.
But I am disappointed by Kaguya arc I believe it ruined the show. I think Madara deserved to be the final villain.

Great video
"IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME, HASHIRAMA!"
Once brothers, now bitter enemies.
This was a lovely video on the humanity of hashirama
I really loved this
But I was also reminded of a previous video on Uncle Iroh
His humanity, his flaws were something I sensed but didn't want to accommodate since I felt they tarnished his image.
But you're video shed light on the fact that it was those very things that made him human and such a wholesome character.
And I really am grateful for that insight.
Thank you for making these videos
This shows that the heros in naruto are perfect they also can flawed and hypocrites when Hashirama stabed madrara in the it feelt like he betrayed him madrara even see hurt when says you change to Hashirama
When Madara turned into the Six Paths, I thought he would pay Hashirama a visit.
Ultimately hashirama's choice to listen to Tobirama instead of working with madara is what lead to his downfall. Hashirama calling itachi a greater shinobi than himself is laughable. It shows that Hashirama was corrupted by his position of power seeking for a "peaceful" village at any cost be that the death of his best friend or the genocide of a whole clan.
It shows that he was a hypocrite like the village hidden in the leaves the so called heros in naruto are really not different from the villains the kill and steal and say it is justified because it is for the sake of the village that way thinking is carzy and wrong it is end 33 proves it
HASHIRAMA DIDN'T HAVE A DOWNFALL YOU UCHIA FANBOY.
Was naruto always this beautiful? Suddenly Hashirama is one of my favorite characters, seriously amazing video
the problem is, the shinobi world is a dangerous place and filled with wars and hatred, trying to defend the village and that part of the will of fire is understandable, but the same ideal put the village over the individual and lead in of itself to countless wars, even other villages have similar ideals to the will of fire, and tbh that's why naruto is the goat, just how he said that he is not asura and sasuke is not indra he didn't give up on sasuke and knew how important single person can be, he succeeded in what hashirama and the other hokages failed, he had the will and determination to never give up on his friend and on the individual, and indeed to never give up on his ideals
They built a school where children would learn to be warriors ... they attempted to save children from dying in pointless wars by concentrating their education around warfare
The hidden leaf village are hypocrisy you could say thier evil I mean character hate like sasuke nagato that shows that the village hidden in the leaves are not good people

I never thought of Madara as being the true Idealist, in contrast to Hashirama, the political realist.
Hashirama found something he valued even more than Peace.
Konoha, the will of Fire.
Unfortunately this proved to be a weakness. He was easily manipulated by Tobirama’s shallow rhetoric about the Uchiha.
Thanks for the video, this is just fantastic!!
I'm not here for hostile debate, just a normal one. I think you shouldn't write off Tobirama's view of the Uchiha Clan as shallow. He knew more about the Uchiha than Sasuke when he mentioned that the Uchiha is the clan who loves the most even though Sasuke believed the Uchihas source of power is hatred. Tobirama has a bias against the Uchiha Clan because throughout his life, he'd been fighting them non stop. The Uchihas killed his brothers and cousins. It’s like what happens as we age. Every shinobi who wants peace has to make a rough and draft decision.
Great vid bro.😺
Your videos... I'll never regret going back an relistening to understand more completely what your'e trying to tell me. I can't help but try to listen harder. I hope you get what I mean by this.
Naruto had some great characters when it comes to ethics and morality
Underrated channel
Naruto is amazing
The reality that some people have a hard time with is the possibility that violence can sometimes equal peace. Destroying an evil can save the whole. Like a doctor who has to amputate a leg otherwise the whole body will die. To the unknowing person that doctor is violet and evil but to the person and those that know whats going on he is a life saver.
We should strive our utmost to prevent violence but be prepared to deal it out when the time comes because there will always be people who words dont work. The just want what the want and if they arent stopped they will persue their destructive goal till no end.
Correction while we never see it when danzo is going to become hokage kakashi says that he will need to get approval from the jonin assembly. We can assume that this isn't a new thing since it was a forgone conclusion that danzo would have to do this. So while we never see it we can assume that someone can assume the role of hokage, but yhey won't be hokage officially until the fudal lord and jonin assembly agree to it.
Though I guess it's realistic, you cannot change and control everything. Everyone has flaws and because of that such utopian world cannot exist, some things just can't be achieved.
My favorite Madara/Hashirama moment is when Madara throws Hashirama's words back into his face: "No matter what happens I will protect our... no *my* village. I still believe that protecting the village is the best way to protect people, shinobi and children...! Anyone who tries to harm it, whether they are my friends, siblings or even my very own children... I won't forgive them."
These lines showed Madara that even Hashirama could be corrupted and only affirmed Madara's viewpoint that the current world needed to go.
Another favorite Madara quote, this time to Tobirama: "Hashirama's country was a shameful contradiction… Man seeks peace, yet at the same time yearning for war… Those are the two realms belonging solely to man. Thinking of peace whilst spilling blood is something only humans can do. They're two sides of the same coin. To protect something… another must be sacrificed. That is, other than that of, say a dream world."
Madara is truly one of the best villains in all of anime.
madara is one of the worst villains in all anime , just saying thing doesn't make you a good character , a good character does things , a good character must make sense
madara said that hashirama is yearning for war , but what the fans saw is just a pacifist who wants to do anything to end conflict , so what madara said is empty
and again , saying things doesn't make a good villain , madara said a lot of things, hundreds of quotes i guess , but his character is very shallow , he is a one note villain whose development doesn't make sense at all
like the thing about yearning for war but wanting peace , he is the one who is doing this shamelessly , which is absurd , the concept of hypocrisy is to hide an insecurity or to lie to other people or even yourself , but madara doing the thing and its opposite at the same time feels nonsensical to the point of boredom ,
i think he is the second worst character in naruto , "from the ones who got focus indeed"
@@wwe12153 anyway, madara best character. Cry harder.
@@Sakura_uchiha_elite who says ? i think madara is treated like a joke in the fandom , why would i cry ? 😅
@@wwe12153
He isn’t, but keep thinking that kid.
@@Sakura_uchiha_elite lol , why are you taking it so seriously, it is anime after all
Since it is anime, you should support your claim , you act like football fans
What makes Hashiramas work so important is that his creation of Hidden Leaf didn’t just change the Land of Fire but the world. The Village system was much better than the pure clan system and actually brought peace to the world, even the wars after that were relatively containt compared to warring states period. It wasn’t perfect but his work made shinobi world take a huge step towards true peace.
End 33 in naruto shows the peace hashirama made and nothing changed you can say that he made things worse with jinchuriki as before they didn't exist
Not really sadly in the show
The conflicts only escalated
What went from being clashes between rival clans became a clash between militaristic nation statue
And what's worse
They used powerful weapons like tailed beasts
@@doughlausprashaal7151 A fair point all things considered, the conflicts probably became much bigger and destructive. But the way I understood it was that the village system heightened the threshold for conflict and made it less chaotic, as no longer petty lords could higher some clan to murder his enemies etc. The wars seem to have been near constant during waring states. Plus it gave room for agreements between villages/states and clear diplomacy. So it is a question of which is worse: instability and constant small wars or rare big destructive wars and stability. Plus the whole monopoly of violence and small village things.
Great video
