The cracks happen on the oem turbo on just about every first gen cruze. I think that's what he meant. I agree if that was supposed to be that way they would make it like that. Only thing I could add to this video is to replace the oil feed line. It tends to clog due to the poor placement. When the car is shut off the oil in the line is so hot that when it stops flowing it coagulates. I also would recommend putting an insulation around the old feed line.
I second that. After the turbo on my Outback XT blew - admittedly my fault, engine was low on oil, inexcusable - the company I bought the new turbo from required a specific replacement large diameter and heat shielded oil feed line.
Couldn’t you take the clip off the waste gate actuating rod where it clips on the waste gate, and open and close it manually to check for binding like on the bench?
Hi I've got a long time struggle with my wife's, car Ive got some junkyard help tearing this car down, so during my removal the first time, i reassembled in 2 pieces, {cause there was a bolt I could not reach, without needing those E TORX, which i later got) So I installed how I took off, (in 2 pieces) caused slight sharp zinging, which turned out to be the impellers scraping inside, but it didn't over heat, after several driving miles sound did not dim down at all, 2nd installing using correct tools I got out in 1 piece, re installed new one, as 1, but It overheats so it's been sitting parked, I have cleaned all lines out 1st time , 2nd time I got all new ones, plus dip stick tube, so is the waste gate tuned, when it comes like that as 1 piece? Cause I'm unsure of my idle temp is correct, The HEAD was ultimately resurfaced (I got car with codes p2999 and having milkshake,, anyway I know I can adjust the waste gate while the car is together while heatshield gone, I just don't have abilities or resources to get out every block and adjust , What I haven't been able to check are if my fans are working correctly? Any help 2ith checking a temperature while idle and at what temp it's supposed to turn fans on will be great help ...I'll look at other video to be sure I installed all vacuum lines in correctly, Thank you in advance
Could the new turbo go bad a year later and throw the same code or should i see if its actuating it has a significant increase in acceleration after replacing the purge valve a weird noise and seems like when cruising around if you just lay into it it stumbles then accelerates hard im thinking the turbo is good maybe a leak or the wastegate isn’t all the way closed when its supposed to be haven’t really inspected because everything is so small and fragile p0299 code engine underboost send help please
Good vid 💪💪....just a thought from experience...the oik feed line clogs especially if ur not on top of oil changes so if ur over 50k miles change ur feed line...like i said it clogs and cause the turbo to run very hot due to lack of lube til it breaks....$20 to $30 feed line will help the turbo last longer as well as changing oil every 3 to 5k miles... feed line every 50k...very easy to change literally bout 15 mins need a T45 torx and a 8mm 6 or higher point socket do it first thing in the morning keep the oil mess down and everything is nice and cool....🍻🍻
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, Can you advise me in detail how to clip the oil return line into the block? It just seems to be loose when I push it in and I cant work out how to lock it in. I have litterally removed my old turbo today and I'm going to be putting my new one in a few hours. Pleaseeeeeee man advise me 😅
I replaced 3 of these turbos, all in the same car, im on number 4 now, installingthis weekend before selling my cruze. 2015 ltz rs cruze. 1 gm and 2 dorman failed. Unbelievable how bad this design is. My cars are all taken care of very well. I have the dorman cam cover and intake, all new hoses every time and no cel except for po420, oil full synthetic every 3000 miles like clockwork way before the oil reset lamp. The turbos are just garbage. There should be a class action lawsuit against the maker of the turbo and Chevrolet.
I just got this code too. I'm going change out the oil return line and if that doesn't fix it I'm going change out the turbo boost pressure sensor. I checked Rock Auto and new turbos were roughly more then $600 CAD
Well i wished this could've helped me with my bypass stuck off code. But it didnt. So here's a awesome find for all you cruze owners. Dorman. I know i try to stay away from them. But its what was available NOW for me. Offers a return line made not from plastic, but metal. Super upgrade to the plastic trash that breaks off in the block and needs fished out. They also make a complete turdo line kit. All oil, coolant and vaccum. Maybe next one for ya. If anyone has any info or direction on pass and fail p2261-00 code and can help me out. Please throw me a comment. I guess im gonna pull the bypass actuater and see if its leaking brand new from the box.
Chevrolet Equinox 2018 error P0299 The check of the engine came out. Having checked with a capacitor, I found an error P0299 - a low boost value. I thought maybe something was accidental. I dropped it. After a while, I got out again. Have already checked: -parts of the intercooler and the intercooler itself (whole) -the turbine itself, visually and with the help of a scanner, as far as possible, while without removal (like everything opens and closes, there are no obvious visible damages) Tell me what could be? I'm from Ukraine. Thanks
You can get the entire manifold/turbo/blowoff valve..ect.. for $210 on ebay. Its a no brain'er to just change the whole thing, rather than trying to fix separate parts on it.
Use socket insrted into therm stat housing so when tighen coolant line down has steel to compress to have no issuse 3years most last 1 year plastic them housing engineered junk

Must add marvel mystery oil use synthetic oil change oil at 3000 miles will last longer

Turbocharger coolant line question-When the coolant lines are tightened down do the lines move? Mine do seems like they would leak. is this normal?

Are the gaskets that come with the turbo and oil lines decent or should I buy some oem replacements? Thanks
The gasket was a decent gasket. But they are not oem... the car has not had any issues as of yet.
Also take thermstat out do runs cooler helps plastic from cracking
How much was the new turbo? Im getting a code P0299 and does not come with oil feed line and return line?
I just got this code too. I'm going change out the oil return line and if that doesn't fix it I'm going change out the turbo boost pressure sensor. I checked Rock Auto and new turbos were roughly more then $600 CAD
I got the turbo from chevy dealer online i get good deals from them, but i have also got a turbo from Amazon and worked well also...
@@sunservices2011 How much were the turbos from chev?
Oil return line didn't fix the problem either. Im just waiting on the boost sensor now
@@Hinokami_TT think i paid 480
I may have to change that whole price too. I have no power in my 2011 Cruze Eco.

Valve cover bolts loose ?
Wow.. I didn't realize they were so cheap.

How's that ebay turbo working out?
