Wish for me was easier to seam up sock, as it sits around for months as I do a little bit at time when can see well and enuf lite around. Nice video and inspireing.
Would this concept work on any flatbed machine? I’m looking at a Empisal Mini Schnell Stricker Knitting Machine and curious to see I can make socks like you are doing. Thank you 😊
A hat or scarf is a good project for someone brand new to machine knitting. Or a pumpkin if you need decorations. I have videos on this channel for these projects.
ok, forgive me--I'm a new machine knitter, and am a little confused about the toe. . . .you re-do the *entire* heel section? ie; narrow down to say, 9 stitches, then back up to the original half that you started with? then put all back in work, and knit across one row on waste yarn? in my head, that puts the toe seam on top of the foot, yes?
Exactly, except I usually knit the last row with main yarn then onto waste yarn but you can do it either way. Then you will graft or Kitchener stitch the toe seam 😊
You can check out the pattern here. The pattern is part of a spreadsheet so you can use any yarn and any machine for any size sock. www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/simple-machine-knit-socks
I bought the sock pattern months ago. To me it’s confusing explain it a little more. Please ! Do I use my computer to insert the measurements? Then it calculates it for me ?
It usually takes 20 minutes to knit a sock on the machine. So a pair of socks would take about an hour with seaming once you get the hang of it. It of course depends on how long the sock is too and whether any cables or lace is added.
Absolutely. That's the machine I started with. You can certainly make these socks on the USM, you need to know how to put stitches in hold. I'm not sure I remember how off the top of my head but it's certainly possible.
100% worth it, make sure you’re patient coz it takes a while to learn & get used to but afterwards it’s perfect. I suggest the LK150, it’s really good for beginners
You do put half of the needles into hold. I usually do it exactly the same as the heel but you can do it on the opposite side as well. Either way works.
Facebook has some machine sales groups that would be a good place. Be careful having machines shipped unless the seller understands how machines should be packaged to be shipped. I found all of my machines locally on Facebook marketplace. There are also still some dealers around.
When I was a beginner, I was the same. One thing I would do differently is instead of trying to make sweaters to begin with, I would make a whole bunch of squares. One for every single stitch pattern in my knitting machine.

please advice.
Yes, it should.
I have a midgauge, brother KX 350 and I was able to do this with a baby yarn.
Hello, I love your videos! What would you recommend as a first project for a new machine knitter? Thank you

Thank you for your purchase! Yes, use your computer and put in your gauge and size measurements and all of the instructions are calculated for you. 💜
Wow Very Cool! How long does it usually take to make a pair of socks?

Can you explain the settings on the knitting machine? I just bought my first knitting machine and I don't know what the buttons do
Yes, that would make a great video because it can certainly be confusing.
Thanks!
Can you make these socks on the ultimate sweater machine?
Absolutely. That's the machine I started with. You can certainly make these socks on the USM, you need to know how to put stitches in hold. I'm not sure I remember how off the top of my head but it's certainly possible.
I’m pondering about getting a flat bed machine, do people find they use them much and are they worth the money please?

It really depends on how much crafting you like to do. Whether it's a hobby or a business and how fast you want to be able to knit.
Hi there. For the toe part do I put half the needles into hold on the opposite side that I did for the heel?
You do put half of the needles into hold. I usually do it exactly the same as the heel but you can do it on the opposite side as well. Either way works.
Thank you so much. It’s a brilliant pattern. I’ve made my very first baby sock!
If needles are put in hold on opposite side for toe you will be grafting the sole to the toe instead of the toe to top of sock. Both are fine.
this video is very confusing. where do I start and what are the steps?
Where can you buy these machines.
Ebay, etsy, marketplace

Im confused on how to measure rib to heel :(
From the end of the ribbing to where the heel shaping would start which is usually about 2 inches above the floor on adults.
I am a lazy knitter too
swatchers drive me crazy
😂
I'm a beginner and I can't make head not tail of any of this 😔
Try one of our other sock patterns first then this will make more sense.
When I was a beginner, I was the same.
