Love this video. Especially because I have a hard time seeing where riffs are common. I learn a song and don’t really stop to consider how riffs in it might be common to other songs.
Thanks for the tab. Being a newbie guitarist, don't have the chops to be able to just pick this stuff up on the fly. BTW, what is the difference between a lick and a riff? Anyone. Hope y'all have a Merry Christmas and a safe New Year's Eve.
@freshhopbeer -- Thanks. I learned Tennessee Flat Top Box and I can't figure out if the instrumental 'chorus' is a lick or riff. It's about 4 or 5 measures played twice, then back to the verse. Guess I can call it either one.
Very very helpful content! I'm forever grateful to you! I noticed a typo I think, Crazy Train should end with a 2 at the bottom string, instead of 0. Is that accurate?
It’s an old rock n roll bass line used in hundreds of songs; Bill Hayley, Elvis, Chuck Berry. It was then adapted by 60’s artists like the Beatles. Later on in the 70’ Bolan and Slade used it extensively in many of their hits. And so it continues to this day. 👍🏻
It is. I recorded it a year ago. I explained why I put it up again in Community. I’m in rehearsals right now for a show on Friday. It was either an older vid, which most of my new subscribers won’t have seen, or nothing. 🥸
My face is lighting up, Rob! You are the Best.
Thanks Rob. Some of the best, clearest lessons available. Happy Christmas
Cheers Steve. Have a great Christmas! 👍🏻🎄

Greetings from México city.

You make me want to pick up my guitar and crack on badly but with a smile on my face thanks
Wasn't sure where to make a request so I'm hoping it's ok here. Could I request a tutorial with tabs on the song "Tennesee Whiskey"? Thanks.
Rob you should make playlists for Master Classes and other series so they are easy to find...
Hi Klaus, not sure how to do it but I’ll check it out. 👍🏻

well, a riff can be the basis of a song a lick is usually considered just a note pattern in a song but they cam be interchangeable too :)

Another great tutorial
I'm reminded of Eric Morecambe playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order.
That’s all it like that’ll be the day Buddy Holly how do you play that?
I said that riff you did sounded like Buddy Holly that’ll be the day. Can you teach that please?

How do you do that growl?
Cant see where to download the riff Rob . Great video .
Link is under the vid. Click ‘more’ if you don’t see it. 👍🏻
May be a problem with the link Rob as I am getting an error message when I try to download it? Or is it just me?
It seems to be just you, it is working for me
It’s ok this end. Try this. 👍🏻drive.google.com/file/d/1saEgcRETewZR1t8kzXZ1v9KEIOuJTRML/view?usp=sharing
@@fennahrob6934 Thanks Rob.Had to change browsers as it works fine on Firefox but Chrome was not having it.
Buggie Weggie been playing it for years
Does anyone know who created that basic riff and when? Someone somewhere in history must have been the first person to play it.

Elvis tunes had a lot of those type of riffs
❤❤
Sounds like a bass riff
