  • Introduction by the great Archie Sampier.
The Gap Band was an American R&B and funk band that rose to fame during the 1970s and 1980s. The band consisted of three brothers Charlie, Ronnie, and Robert Wilson; and it was named after streets (Greenwood, Archer, and Pine) in the historic Greenwood neighborhood in the brothers' hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. After 43 years together, they retired in 2010.

Uncle Charlie is 68 and _will_ sing anyone under the table right now. And he looks the same. Gap Band, EWF, Zapp, Ohio Players, Kool and the Gang, Isley Brothers, Cameo, Commodores, War, just to name a few are my go to for some _real_ music. My 24 year old self knows some great music from the icons and legends. 👊👊👊👊👊👊👊🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

thats a band that is so on point with how they figure out how to get right to your gut (soul)...and it starts with Charlie Wilson's voice...which is one of the most recognizable and influential singing voices in popular music. These guys are legends. And as far as Im concerned, they deserve an induction into the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame. RIP, Ronnie Wilson and Robert Wilson. The Gap Band tales up a LOT of space on the soundtrack of my life. I hear "Outstanding", and Im thinking of block parties in my hood, back in the day....and family picnics...and going to the roller skating rink on Friday nights...Mom playing their music around the house on Saturdays, while Im hurrying up doing my chores, so I can get out of the house...and playing their music in my first car in the parking lot at high school, after school let out. Thats what they mean to me. God bless these guys...legends.

I feel sorry for music ears where this wasn't the norm, the music you use to hear, to now it ain't even fair, gap band brought it in the studio and on stage, Charlie Wilson always been cold, this is a concert and this is back when entertainers showed you star power, respect, rip Robert Wilson, they tore it up in Htown

The Houston Summit. Im glad the Summit or whom ever video many of the shows. a great look back on music history. I know ive seen Parliament, Rick James and Journey all video taped from The Summit. I saw many great concerts in the 80s and 90s and Rocket games there before it became Lakewood Church.

Shamaneika Johnson It’s my kind of music (the music with REAL talent that plays REAL instruments) unlike what they call music today, hence why they call this Old School!
