I agree with all the 2024 feature asks here, but my favorite is a new Pioneer XDJ-XZ2 stand-alone controller (that is as good or better than the Denon Prime 4+). I will be at NAMM next week so I will stop by the Pioneer booth and ask them about this.

THANKS PHIL- BRILLIANT CONTENT. THE SERATO MIXING IN KEY IS FUNNY. PERSONALLY I’VE BEEN ENJOYING DJ PRO AND TRULY WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOME SORT OF INTEGRATION INTO INDUSTRY STANDARD EQUIPMENT SO I DON’T HAVE TO KEEP RE LEARNING OTHER SOFTWARE. THE OTHER THING THAT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IS MORE DJ’s USING IPAD PROS. I THINK THE DAYS OF DJING WITH A LAPTOP ARE OVER. ALSO IT LOOKS COOLER , WITH THE LAPTOP IT LOOKS LIKE YOUR AN ACCOUNTANT CONSTANTLY STARING TO THE LEFT, MORE IMPORTANTLY ID LIKE TO BE ABLE THE IPAD WITH THE STAND ALONE GEAR. IT DOES HAVE 2TG OF STORAGE AND THE M2 or M3 PROCESSORS ARE MIND BLOWING. ✌️
iPad DJing just hasn't caught on, we thought it would too. It is the difficulty of maintaining a music library on the iPad that destroys it in our view.
Agree with Phil, this all needs to be standardized. There are even apps that do it for you, so there is a demand. The next upgrades are really in software. The hardware covers all the bases: cdj (digital), turntables, digital turntables, all types of controllers, and even the phone/ pad. You could trigger effects by: paddles, knobs or buttons (your choice). There really isn't much more to do, hardware wise. Denon could use a battle mixer and a new flagship mixer overall (the 1850 is the weak link in that set up). Pioneer S11 has been on back order for awhile, maybe a new S style from Pioneer (guessing not though until they integrate stems more).
Hi Phill, Just saying, wouldn't it be great for all owners of any Pioneer controller that is said to be compatible with Rekordboxx and serato dj pro to be 100% compatible with Serato DJ Pro and no 60 or 70% Serato compatible. For example , the Flex4 and the Flex6 are Rekorbox 100% compatible but not with Serato DJ Pro. Many features work on Rekordbox but not in Serato DJ Pro.
The truth is that controllers have a "primary" platform and a "secondary" one, I guess it'd be very hard to have feature parity because the software platforms at the end of the day have different features.
I do love my Technics SL-DZ1200 because I did the firmware update and it works on my Serato and Rekordbox softwares with the Reloop Flux. But I do a lot of weddings and other events and I use my DDJ-FLX10 and it’s a beauty…buuuut it would be nice to have another all in one besides my Mixstream Pro. Oh and Technics should remake a modern version of the DZ1200’s.
I wish a stand alone like denon sc 6000m or cdj 3000. But with a 12 inch spinning. direct drive motor platter with 10.1 display. Rane 12 platter. Also a technics 1210 digital but with real vinyl touch
Thanks! Phil, I want to have 3 children with you! Honestly I 'm heavily amused by the fusion of fascination, bewilderment and emotionality in your voice calling out NI on their inept Traktor "advancement". I own all of the big 4 (Rekordbox, Serato, Virtual DJ, Traktor) and blow hot and cold on Traktor: I'm deeply impressed by its brilliant sound quality, and it well received overdue updates (library management 🙆♂️, skin) but NIs policy ultimately made me run away. I keep an eye on it, but I don't expect anything anymore. Too bad!
Thanks! I know what you mean about Traktor, It's like a bad marriage where a partner says "I am going to change, I promise" but it all happens far too slowly, and in the end you have to believe what you see, not what you're told.
Oof. I’m glad my hardware came with Serato Pro and pitch and play unlocked. Def agree wish Pioneer would release an XDJ-XZ2. I’ve only recently began using stems. I like it. Hopefully by the time an XZ2 comes out rekordbox stems will be improved. Tho tbh I use them more as improved EQ isolation than anything else. Meaning I’m not trying to get true acapellas or clean instrumentals from them. FWIW. I’ve had a Denon MC7000 for 5 years or so now. Zero problems. I’ve been very happy with it.
Serato has flexible beatgrids and already has stems, and yes - a standard way for DJ databases to interact with each other would be marvellous, if a pipe dream.
I don't think we'll see that any time soon, they have kind of promised it but in all honesty the stems they've developed so far in beta in the Prime 4+ do not sound very good.
@digitaldjtips that's a shame . They look so good. I have only been using digital hardware for 2 months. Always used vinyl when I started mixing and I thought the stems thing look great . Thank you for the reply Phil.
I don't think Inmusic can replace Serato, the Serato name (reputation) in the DJ community and especially the US turntablist commuity is too big for that. They could however launch a 12 inch screen with a built in processor, to be connected to any controller and running Engine DJ (like a dedicated tablet with feet, running on the same Rockit Arm Soc). That would be cool for owners of Rane Gear. That way InMusic can focus on one hardware platform. Tey could even use these small ultrawide wide screens, which are now widely available. (I think they were designed for modern cars).
Wow, what a forward-thinking idea that is! Not sure they'd do that (arguably these things already exist, they're called computers!😉) but stranger things have happened...
Im agreed engine DJ need to standardize the way we can DJ on other controllers with their software, im tired of having to analyze 2 different software’s, I love the SC series but sometimes the venue has equipment and I can’t bring my stuff or doing EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA WORK!
