i converted the inches to metrics and used your calculations with the values of my chain (525, 108l, 15t&40t) and got the wear limit to a length of 5.1mm - does this sound right? there's a chain wear indication label on my bike showing the limit with green, yellow and red zones. tomorrow i will measure the length of the zones on the label and see if the value is close to the 5.1mm that my calculations say. another question, when sprockets bead in and wear they will interfere with the wear length and maybe show a worn chain (according to manufacturer) which in reality is not? thank you for the videos they inspire to view things around in a different manner.

+valde falisto 5.1 mm sound about right given that 1/4 inch is 6.35 mm. Don`t worry much about worn spots on the sprocket, the worn chain will ride towards the tips of the teeth. See geometric explanation here: ua-cam.com/video/YEE0KVRwGUY/v-deo.html
Do post your measurements here, it`s good stuff. Thanks for watching.

Could have said the important elements in five minutes instead of twenty.
