Legendary singer, songwriter, musician, and producer Bob Gaudio is “In Conversation” with Frank Sinatra Enterprises President Charles Pignone discussing 'Watertown,' the concept album he conceived, composed, arranged and produced for Frank Sinatra.
Recorded at SiriusXM’s studio in Nashville, TN in April 2022, the “In Conversation” radio special is broadcast exclusively on Siriusly Sinatra (Channel 70), airing from May 22nd through June 2022 on SiriusXM.
Frank Sinatra’s newly-mixed and -remastered ‘Watertown’ is out now in three fabulous configurations: on vinyl, deluxe CD & deluxe digital to stream and download. I’m actually very VERY interested to find out what Bob and Jake are doing in regards to this “additional piece” that might explain the woman’s reasons for leaving the man. I’ve always loved Watertown and whenever I was asked what my favorite Sinatra album is I always answered with this one and the close second Only the Lonely (it’s a damn shame Sinatra couldn’t fully tackle Lush Life because that would’ve been a killer addition to that album). Needless to say, I really hope they do this project and figure out if they want to have one of the Sinatra daughters do it or someone else who’s around the age he was then to be the woman and explain her reasons for leaving. This kind of thing wouldn’t have really ever happened before in music history, so even if it flies under the radar, just telling this complete story and being able to reintroduce (even if just for a short time) the concept album would be amazing
You should watch the other interviews. Gaudio makes it clear that "Elizabeth" feels trapped in Watertown and her marriage, enough so that she leaves her family to live in the city. For his part, "George" feels safe in Watertown and can't bring himself to leave. Gaudio and Holmes trust the listeners to have the intelligence and imagination to fill in the blanks without needing every single detail spelled out. 🐧
