    Great video, buddy!!! So, it's funny...we can spend ungodly amounts of money of liquid cooled video cards, but unless you flash the card with a firmware that does not limit the clock and voltages you can run, we will always be capped as to the performance that is achievable. The only thing you'll really achieve is zero thermal throttling. There are some extreme overclockers out there doing liquid nitrogen OC's just for benchmarks, but that's not realistic for daily use. I started researching all of this with the 7900XTX and realized the performance benefits from even the most extreme overclocks are marginal. There's a diminishing rate of return on overclocking. It's like an engine that has a cam profile that makes peak HP at 5000 rpm. You can lighten the crank and rods and pistons, upgrade the valves and springs, and rev the sucker out to 10k rpm, but it's not going to make much more HP and you'll have spent a fortune getting there. Unless we get options to buy video cards with high end memory specs and the firmware to play with it, we won't get much more FPS for our efforts. So yeah, I'm not surprised your test bench gives you way more bang for the buck, but you built a hell of a good looking machine!!! That last 5% in performance might cost us $2k more, but we're all suckers!!! haha!!!!

      Very well said … GPU manufacturers have really locked down our ability to OC effectively and now a 4090 is a 4090 … just get the cheapest option.

      My problem is that for this build I have an Asus AIO so I have no way to control the LCD screen without Armory Crate. I was shocked when I saw the benchmarks after changing the RGB in Aura Sync … it’s really poor software development.

      @@blackbirdpctech That really does suck and to add on the ASUS warranty issues being covered by Gamers Nexus; this makes me want to never buy ASUS again! I currently have a Z690 ITX board and it has USB dropout issues, and I can't resolve them, though they drop out less after I uninstalled Armoury Crate. Yes it is very poor software development...

      It’s funny you say that, I actually had a bad experience with RMA’ing an Asus Strix 4090 while working on this build and I published an “Asus Scam” video a week before Gamers Nexus. I sent it to Steve and suggested that he should investigate Asus … then a week later his video came out. Hopefully this pressure, especially from GN, will drive change because as I explained in my Asus scam video, I really do like their products (with the exception of Armory Crate of course).

    So many people think more cores help if you have other programs running, but testing by Hardware Unboxed saw otherwise as it's not CPU time that's the constraint. It's generally contention for other system resources.
    That the RGB setting can cause such a difference with an i9 is a good example.
    The 7800x3D makes far more sense for gaming.

    • @blackbirdpctech
      @blackbirdpctech  2 місяці тому

      Yes, it’s crazy to me that an RGB setting can cripple an i9 in gaming. Completely agree that a 7800X3D makes way more sense in gaming. The GPU I used is also not a smart buy and not something I recommended when I reviewed it in an earlier video.

      @RobBCactive 2 місяці тому +1

      @@blackbirdpctech well I wonder if it's using some BIOS code that briefly stalls everything while it changes the setting.
      Just a few ms delay could wreck 1% lows at the fps you have unless something else causes worse stutters.
      As for the mention of 7800x3D, it was only as the title said "Ultimate".
      A long time ago under Linux I discovered having net traffic via a hardware ISA modem would halve disk throughput on a dual CPU PC. Probably due to serial interrupts delaying disk ones.

    • @blackbirdpctech
      @blackbirdpctech  2 місяці тому

      My thought was somewhat similar, every time the color was changing armory crate must send a high priority signal to the cpu which causes the stutters and hence kills 1% lows. Appreciate your input.

      Uhg not looking forward to my Corsair 1000D Rebuild then I loaded the bich up with 12x Lian Li 120mm fans + 6 Lian Li 140m for the 420 Cooler. The 14900K with that one Asus Enhancement on but limit to 90c has drastically fixed crashes and 100c on core 2-3.

    you should try using ameliorated versions of windows like ghost spectre superlite or GGOS and keep the ram speeds intel default if you want to diagnose these problems. far more process of elimination will happen for you faster and easier.

    • @blackbirdpctech
      @blackbirdpctech  2 місяці тому

      I appreciate your comment … I’m not familiar with those versions of windows … how would that help? As I explained in the video, the first thing I tested was the RAM by removing the overclock, changing memory kits and running Karhu. Once I determined that the RAM had no impact what value would running it at default speeds offer? I could also simply run Windows in safe mode but again, how would that help me find the root cause of the issue? I guess that would have helped me eliminate hardware as the issue before replacing all of the components, so that would have saved me a lot of time.

    • @LIVEREALFOOLED
      @LIVEREALFOOLED 2 місяці тому +1

      @blackbirdpctech
      These versions of windows have been debloated for maximum performance. Typically, they are made for gamers.
      I use one, and I've had up to 20 fps in game.
      The reason I suggest using default ram speeds well, I use the 7800x3d and we all know too well the difficulties and instability ram is/was on that platform.
      When I switched EXPO off and ran it at 4800mhz instead of 6000. I lost maybe 5 fps but the stability was completely returned. All of the stuttering or spikes is actually the controller throttling. It's the number one cause of 1% lows. Shady 1% lows is usually throttling.
      Now, if you combine these to variables of an effective maximum speed subtracting everything from the start.
      Then you know piece by piece if something is nerfing the performance of the entire setup.
      Remove anything RGB, LCD, USB controllers etc and reinstall windows the way I've said. Ameliorated Windows and GPU driver. Then use avast auto driver for the chipset drivers.
      Don't use armoury crate. I stopped using it when I decided to use something else for the WIFI but, for obvious reasons you need it in the end for the different components.
      This takes advantage of the most effective fresh install you can get. You now have a baseline you can always return to.

    • @blackbirdpctech
      @blackbirdpctech  2 місяці тому

      Will look into these versions of windows. It’s crazy to think that if I didn’t have to use Armory crate then most of my issues would have gone away. The good news is I learned a lot going through this, but it was still frustrating.

      Try Atlas OS first. It's the safest from the ameliorated community.

      I really hope so because this build was a huge pain. I actually haven't played around with the 7950X3D yet, so I am really curious as to how it performs. I have multiple 7800X3D systems which are great, but that obviously doesn't require any core scheduling to perform at an optimum level. Should be fun.

If you had you would have seen how I recently took Intel to task for taking performance away from customers with their new default settings and how the entire debacle was Intel's fault. I also encouraged a class action lawsuit against Intel for false advertising. There are a lot of channels out there that will tell you what you want to hear, but on this channel I don't favor any manufacturer ... I let the testing and data form my recommendations.
