What an honest and heartfelt interview. I wish the NetFlix documentary would have shown the whole interview. He is an amazing cyclist and an even better person ❤.
These answers from Matej transcend cycling. It's all about respect. Respect for a wonderful sport. Respect for rivals. Respect for your team's staff. And a memory to all families (wives/husbands and children), who are willing to make sacrifices in order to pursue a dream. This interview should be watched by all the kids in the sport academies no matter the sport they do. The humility and fair play conveyed by Matej's words should be the source of inspiration for our young future athletes. GRANDE Matej 🙌🏻❤
Incredible interview. I’m still amazed by Matej’s honesty and incredible humility. And grateful to get a peek behind the curtain of what it’s like for these guys who contest the TdF. Surely he will be one of the legends that young cyclists look to in the future as an example of a great cyclist and competitor.
From BE. When I see him up front, I will always be rooting for him. Not only a great bike rider but a true human being as well in a cutthroat sport. Allez Matej!!!
The sacrifices made with family. Winning justifies that and I can empathize because sometimes you have to set them aside to advance career. Eventually we all should be at a time and place that’s stable and make it up to them.
Maybe the most iconic interview of cycling.
Before that interview Matej was just another professional cyclist to me. Now I am always rooting for him to win.
I went from being disappointed when kasper didn't win to be overjoyed for Matej after watching this interview. In his second language no less.

Thank you Eurosport for rebroadcasting that amazing interview. As poignant today as it was almost a year ago. Timeless.

Was really pulling for Matej today. My favorite guy in cycling. Huge heart.
Legends are born both on and off a race bike,
The way he looks and points to the sky when talking about Gino always tears me up 😭
Pello, too
this post-race interview is cycling 100%
With all the heart to the finish line.
The best!
Such a touching, honest interview. I think about it often.
A very real an! Deep admiration to truth.
"Everyone is just so incredibly strong, it's just hard to follow the wheels sometimes" - You and me both Matej ❤
Love this man ❤
