Vielen Dank für die detaillierte Präsentation dieser Farben. Sie erinnern mich an ein Set von natürlichen Pflanzenfarben, ich glaube von Stockmar, die ich vor Jahrzehnten in der Schweiz gekauft hatte. Sie waren auch gelartig und etwas streifig im Auftrag. Da ich sie damals nicht wirklich oft verwendet habe, werde ich auf diese neue Serie von Schmincke verzichten. Sie schauen im Bild sehr schön aus und ich bewundere die Ausdauer und das handwerkliche Geschick, mit denen sie gehandhabt wurden!
Das ist wirklich das beste "Review", das von diesen Farben auf UA-cam zu finden ist. Das giveaway finde ich echt großzügig, da werden sich doch ein paar Leute richtig freuen dürfen!

This was an amazing and informational review, I felt like I learned a lot! I have been getting more into watercolor and gouache paintings so I have been looking for different brands of watercolors. I love the demonstration of these watercolors in your video (and the matte finish looks so good!)

These don't really feel like Gouache to me, but the matte finish once they have dried does look more like Gouache.

I'm always amazed at how different a colour may appear from a manufacturer's advertised swatch to the actual (as in the very orange looking plant colour). This was great to see. I want to participate in the giveaway. This was informative and it's interesting to think of the rock, mineral and fossil specimens my son found in his years of being in the 4-H geology project being turned into paints. But I don't have the patience to make the paints.

I have to say, the colors you picked (along with the set) are gorgeous. Very earthy.
I also loved that you gave extra information about locations. I went to Georgia back in 2016 for three weeks, and it is an amazing country to visit, so seeing it pop up on your video as a source for one of the pigments was a lovely reminder of that holiday.
Oh, and the final painting - six hours! 🤯 you have more patience than me! - was fab. I love Star Wars, so enjoyed seeing the finished Luke painting.
And, while I would love to use the new naturals from Schmincke, I also feel like I shouldn't have more paints, I will not enter. I can get them here in NL easily I'm sure, so better to make sure others in more need get them. But what a generous gift from you to the winner! ❤
Evie - your comment are always a real treat! 💜 Thank you for taking the time to write up your thoughts. I've actually had the Caucasus region on my "bucket list", you could say. We were looking at a potential holiday there when unfortunately some hostilities erupted in the region again, but I hope I will be able to go at some point in the future. From the little bit that I've seen online, it is absolutely stunning. Hearing about your trip to Georgia just confirms this!
And the six hours....is just the footage of the painting process. I think the initial sketch took another 2 hours, plus some fixes off camera... 😵I was super exhausted by the time I was done. Happy to hear you also enjoy Star Wars!

I would love to participate in the giveaway! Earthy colors are some of favorite hues and the texture of these paints are extremely interesting to me. I think i could do some very interesting techniques with these. I have never tried this brand paints as they are much more expensive here in the usa then the other professional paints brands. How generous and cool of you to do a giveaway! Also thanks for doing the color mixing as that was the first thing i wondered about after seeing the consistency of these paints. They certaintly are very unique. Love your channel. Im huge star wars fan and also all the off shoot shows as well. Have you seen the mandolorian? Its a must watch!

I mostly tried to soften the texture of these paints, but I think in the hands of an experiences artist (I still feel new to watercolors), the texture could also be played with and used much more intentionally for certain effects. I'll add your name to the list for the giveaway!

@@wingedjedi_art Jackson’s has an online store in Australia now and I find it very useful. What they don’t have we can purchase from Jackson’s UK. Logging onto to Jackson’s in Australia takes us directly to the Australian store, so it’s interesting they don’t have it in the UK. I purchased my sets when Jackson’s had a promotion on Horadam. They are up to the usual Schmincke standard - brilliant. I like both sets and use them together with other watercolours and gouache. Cheers 😁

Seems there's not a lot of stuff out on these yet. I think I saw one other video about them, but I didn't want to watch any "spoilers" before I tried them out myself. 😂 Hopefully they will also start to become available internationally soon so that more people can give them a try.

When I saw the gel consistency of the paint it reminded me of cheap children's finger paint. But after seeing your wonderful luke skywalker portrait, I'd love to try them.
Yes, the consistency really surprised me as well, even though I had seen the official photos beforehand. Apart from that, they do like professional paints.

Would you be able to write the name of that Japanese paper that doesn't lift please, I've been searching for a paper like this to help with layering, and you said it a little fast to catch. Would very much appreciate it, thanks 😊. Your artwork was so realistic I was surprised how great it was especially as the paints themselves are very streaky. Hi Tabbi! The paper that does not want to lift much is called "Avalon" paper. I bought it in Japan last year. Not sure if it can be found outside of Japan, though...

Tbh, I find these paints kind of gross 😂. The texture isn’t cutting it for me. It is 100% possible to make completely natural watercolor without the gummy texture.
Edit I just realized what they remind me of. Have you ever seen prison paints made of the candy called “skittles” ? That’s what they remind me of 😂 seriously though
Hahaha, I do have to admit the texture is....very unusual. It's not my favorite texture either, but I like the shades of the colors and was happy I could water them down.
I'd never heard of prison paint before but I looked it up now. Yuck! 😂
