A quick Good Morning Tiana and family. Beautiful photography of my childhood places! Espescially Spitzkupfen! Wish you'ld do a whole video on Spitskoppies and surroundings only! My dad and I often camped at Spitskoppe and Kleine Spitzkupfen. There were no fences then and Hyena and Jackal would visit close to the campfire at night! Those were awesome days... waking up in the middle of the the night with the sounds of Jackal and Hyena close by would often spook a little boy, but dad would just sleep on next to the fire unperturbed. It still brings tears to this ex Namibian boy at late fifties. In 1980 we took a piece of granite cutting from the area for his tomb stone. It still stands in the Windhoek Cemetery to this day as a reminder of the man who was my hero! You are heroes! Loved the trip through the Omaruru, also often visited as a youngster, and the Ugab! We see Episode 3 is in for over dinner tonight!

Oh my word! My nieces are so beautiful. When did they get so big?
I have come to two conclusions. The first is that Joe and I have a very different idea about what constitutes a road. The second is that you guys need to come over to the US and let me show you some redwood trees. Because we also have a very different idea about what a giant tree happens to be. Just promise that you won't call me and Thomas soft because we will be staying in hotels within our national parks rather than camping rough as you guys do.

"Soft" is a misconception Michelle. My wife is a fine lady, but would vehemently tell you that she does not sleep in another's bed referring to a hotel. I grew up roughing it with my dad, but my own dear mother found it hard. In our early years I once simply wanted to be sure my wife was okay roughing it. It was the last straw! A stern almost angered answer shot back at me went along the lines "ek slaap nie in ñ ander man se bed nie". LOL. Well we have been roughing it happily after for more than two decades.
Do you know the tallest trees on the African continent are found in South Africa in a forrest north of Heanertsburg. Memory recall is a bit slow as to their age (100 yrs plus), but they reach heights of approximately 90 metres and include some American Redwoods and some Bluegum trees. Nothing compared to your native Redwoods, but I thought you'd find it interesting.
      All of His best!
