3:07 waaaiiit a second! I recognise that voice! That’s Sorcha Hegarty from the Candlelit Tales podcast.
Farking LOVED LOVED this video. Thanks for sharing.
As an Irish-American pagan, I love that the "old ways" are still being remembered and honored.
I would have _loved_ to go to that! Thank you so much!
Thank you, Ireland!
And thank you, Claire!
We freaking LOVE Halloween in this house! Our yard was a graveyard, with lights, projector and a fog machine! Im sad its over.😢🎃👻
That guy with the chisel is Magic!
Hello Miss Clare! Halloween is my Christmas, lol! This was great, loved seeing the old represented as well as the new. OMG, the guy in the Morrigan outfit is from Michigan (where I am, lol) We have several Halloween events in this area, as well as Autumn/Fall Festivals, but nothing quite like this. There is a place called "Old World Canterbury Village" that has maybe the most overall similar, but their festival is geared more towards kids, and there is a "Frankenfest" that also has some similarities, but is geared more towards the "scary" stuff. Thanks for sharing! Sláinte! ~Be Blessed
Halloween is Samhain, Christmas is Saturnalia. When you forget the origins of holidays so much of the true meaning is lost. Great video!
I’m loving this Halloween video. I’ve been checking out all the stories by other UA-camrs and, surprise, surprise, your the only one that has mentioned that it’s an Irish thing. The others are ( like the gentleman said ) all about the American/ Halloween thing, some will mention it’s “Celtic” origin - but that’s about all.
I love Halloween, but I’ve long been of the opinion that now-a-days, nobody really gets it. Thank you for not only setting the record straight, but showing us all the true Irish meaning of the festival. It was great to see it all , by the way. It looked very cool and beautiful and exciting, It held more meaning and yet was so much fun. What a blast ! I’m totally jealous, but happy that somewhere in the world, someone gets it. It made me happy just to watch it. For revealing this to me Many Many Blessings ❤, and Happy Halloween. 🎉,❤,😂.
Yesssss! I love seeing these cultural type festivals over there. If I were to go to Ireland I would plan it around Halloween. Autumn is my favorite time of year. There's a feeling of renewal in there a bit. Anyway, looking forward to the other festival videos to come! 🎃🖤
Here in the US, they've already shifted to Christmas commercials on the tv. Meaningless for where I live because we're still having high temperatures for the time of year. Love your videos, you journalist you! Hi to Millie!
I love the fact that the wood carver honoured the real tradition of their harvests and produce.
Love the effort you put in every year for Halloween/Samhain - important for people to realise that it had its roots in Ireland and Celtic traditions. Thanks Clare for showing us rhe festival🎃🎃
Huge fan of yours! Love from NYC!
Watching this has given me mixed feelings of both happiness and sadness. On the positive side, thank you for posting the video, it was lovely to watch. But sadly it makes me home sick. I will be in Dublin for Christmas but that feels like a long way off. Thank you Clare! ♥
I❤love Halloween 🎃 👻
Wow very cool video 👍😀👻🎃
Clare!!! The MOST enjoyable part for me…BESIDES all of the great content, interviews, history, language, and your smiles…WAS YOUR JOY!! Your ABSOLUTE transformation from lacking excitement at the start to being FULL of “Samhain” Energy by the end of this video!!!!!! Your LIGHT ALWAYS shines BRILLIANTLY Clare!!! GRMMA!!!!!!!!!!!! As ALWAYS!!!!!! Slan!
THIS WAS GLORIOUS!!! I WANT TO GO NEXT YEAR!! I mean I won’t be able to but SOMEDAY!!! Fantastic video Clisare!!!!! ❤❤❤
2 hits of Clisare in less than an hour. Feeling a bit of an overdose coming on..... Nah, jk, never enough of ya. Thatr festival seems the real deal! 🍁🎃🧛♂
The great movie Harvey is about a Puca. As a little boy I thought a Puca was a rabbit.😂😂😂🖖
Thank you very much, you Irish Fireball!
"Music Myth Mischief" now thats a vibe l can attune to
In 2019 I did Galway Macnas Parade, Derry Halloween, and Puca Festival in 10 days. Magical.
Very very good video ma'am thank you for sharing it I have never seen a Halloween festival like this before it was very cool and interesting and again thank you for sharing it Claire hope you had a safe trip home and look forward to seeing more of your videos
As the Gregorian calendar heads to New Year, I am enjoying this. Years ago I decided that my New Year was the Celtic New Year. Part because of a bit of Celtic heritage and also growing up as a farm boy it makes more natural sense as it would have back then.
That looks like a great festival! Halloween is my favorite, but it's cool to see some more of the historical aspects of it being showcased.
Love this! Looks amazing. Def on my bucket list. There’s also a parade in Galway that looks great. Ordered my Oiche Shamhna tshirt and rocked it throughout the Samhain/Halloween season :)
Another outstanding video Clare Thank You.
Thank you so much for this video! My dad and I were visiting from the States last week, driving up from Dublin to Strokestown. We saw all the signs but couldn’t stop as we were on a schedule. Next time we’ll check it out for sure now that you’ve shown me what is was, epic!
Oh shit, a *Kerr cousin* donning Nordic garb!!! 🇮🇪⚔️🇳🇴
This was *totally* cool; thank you for sharing this experience with the diaspora! 💚🤍🧡 ☘️
Go raibh maith agaibh mo chara !!!
I know it's been a week, but Happy Halloween, Clare, Alex and Millie 🎃🦇👻🕷️🍻
That was awesome!
Hey! I wore the exact same tshirt for Samhain! What are the odds? 😁 Terrific video, as always. Pure class.
No way, I just spent a month in Trim for field school! I walked past that castle every day!!!
Looks sooo fun, Clare!
omgggg that’s my hometownnnn i was literally there too for halloween ahhhh
You did a great job on this video
Spooky!
ah I love ya Claire. If im lucky someday Ill get to meet you! Love the channel! Slan Abhile
That was awesome! Love the mix of old traditions and the modern ones. Thank you! ❤
The skeleton waiting for a semi final.
My dad turned 90 this Hallowe'en, so we've always enjoyed the holiday. We've got some Irish, but not enough to brag about. Nora Roberts wrote a trilogy about Morrigan's Cross/Dance of the Gods/Valley of Silence that I don't know if you'd find interesting or not. She got kudos for sticking close to the history/myth, and the narrator for the audio was awesome (for your next road trip). Thanks for a very interesting vid!
Being in a Christian homeless shelter, I can't celebrate too openly (read: at all), but I *love* your videos, and would *dearly love* to see Imbolc and Bealtain (I hope I spelled those right)...
Samhain sounds a bit like Our Dia De Los Muertos.
It is! I was literally just saying this same thing with my mexican friend lol
Wow, didn't realize Halloween was a big deal in Ireland.
Game is interesting.
I carve apples.... no really apples
👍💀🎃👻👍
Cuir ruaig ar na mudslop, a chaire
Where is Puca?
It's the Púca festival. Púca means "Ghost" in Irish. I included a clip where the storyteller talked about the Púca, and a screenshot of the Wiki explanation of Púca. It's really hard to explain everything from scratch and keep it entertaining so that's how I try to keep the story moving while explaining all the backstory, but it's always good to understand where I am failing to explain adequately, so thanks for your question. The festival is in Trim, Co. Meath.
@@Clisare I'm definitely going to plan a vaca to Trim to go o Puca fest , 2024 ,it looks like so much fun . I've been to Ireland before hung out mostly west coast from Clare Co to getting lost in Enishrone , jumped a fence to pet baby sheep 🐑 ( ok I'm was being a stupid American tourist 😅 ) poor Irish farmer had no clue what to say to me . I apologized for the fence jump. He was so kind let me over to his farm to see his sheeps, and goats 🐐. Pretty country ❤️❤️❤️
So cool Clisaire Slan Slan hello from Calgary Canada. my best to you and Alex
I want to go some day
Loved it wish we could have seen more, but I'm a confessed junky for historicaly oriented stuff. Your excitment when closing the video was great. Best to all as always and of course scritches for Miss Millie.
This was so fun thanks for bringing me along.
