Why Russia Fights | UnArchived

  • For centuries, fueled by historical, cultural, and geopolitical drives, Russia has been willing to sacrifice millions of its own people in expansionary wars with rival nations. This ethos, even in its mostly secular present-day form, has led Russia to believe that victory - at any cost - is all that matters. To better understand Putin and the war in Ukraine, it is imperative to not only understand Russia's objectives, strategies, and logistics, but to understand what drives such aggressive behavior; to understand why Russia fights.

I had to stop watching halfway through because I was losing so many braincell from this crap. The narrator clearly leaves out the countless times it had been attacked from Europe and Scandinavia over the centuries as reasons why it's always trying to extend it's borders with buffer states.

US and Russia suffer from the same issue, exceptionalism. Not the only nations to suffer from this mind you, but it leads both to think the rules don't apply to them. Though this video is pretty garbage, what does Russia have to do with Moldova, Serbia, and Macedonia? WTF. Georgia invaded South Ossetia and Russia pushed them back to maintain the status quo from the Ossetia-Georgia civil war. Ukrainian-American Michael Kofman has a good write-up on what happened.

Bro... its an extraordinarily BASIC videographic/whiteboard "mixed media" video... you could literally make it on PPT. LOL. In other words, it cost about zero dollars and was probably just an intern using the some sort of basic/common editing software license that they already had. Like, literally 6th graders make these types of videos, lmaooo

US to my knowledge does some mess, yet it doesn’t conquer and annex any regions or countries (not to mention neighbors).
Whatever anger I might have on US for Iraq war, people in Iraq are not forced to do everything in English, pay in dollars, forget their own traditions and live under centralized government in Washington (without any elections to boost).
The difference is in just that. Ruzzia DOES conquer and expands there.

Exactly! In a game of international politics, the US would never allow a rival military organization to even approach its borders

There are two types of countries: big countries and small countries.
Big countries are big and strong, so they coerce their neighbors to maintain local hegemony.
Small countries are small and weak, and they usually become vassal states of big countries near them.
Russia is a big country, so it is coercing its neighbors. The US would do the same Russia is doing to Ukraine to Mexico if Mexico entered into a military alliance with China. Ukraine was just stupid to attempt to join NATO.

@@olgajoachimosmundsen4647 For Russia to take over and conquer Ukraine, obviously! You silly goose. Russia can invade and conquer any country in its "region" just because it feels like it or is "scared" of a country with one tenth of the economy, a quarter of the population, and a microcosm of the military materiel and capabilities as their bigger, stronger, aggressive neighbor, i.e., Russia. Basically, Russia can do whatever it wants "within reason". In other words, Russia good but West bad.
