My beta ar($560) leaked and zipper broke in a 2 year span. My gamma mx($350) pocket zipper did the same, broke after 2 years. I wear kuiu now. Best outdoor clothing I've found. Just purchased their yukon rain jacket and will compare to my arcteryx hardshell.

You should really invest some time into what hikers use like Enlightened Equipment Visp, Zpacks Vertice, Outdoor Research Helium II, or anything made by Frogg Toggs. Otherwise you sound like a commercial driven advertisement for some stuff no one uses.
@@xeaivermontoya6115 I would recommend EE Visp if you have the money and frog toggs if you don’t. Frog toggs are really inexpensive and effective. The Visp is compact and lightweight and very effective.

50% of the brands represented buy fabrics from GORE Wear. The North Face, Adidas, Nike, Arc'teryx, Salewa, Patagonia, Mammut, Salomon and other brands use their fabrics. So why overpay for a brand when you can take a good thing (meaning from a membrane fabric) in 2-3 !!! times cheaper? (sorry if i made any mistakes, i don't speak english well)

long haul hiking requires something to avoid sweat and condensation to make you wet....and a poncho is the ticket......keeps you dry and well ventilated.....something that traditional rain gear can not do...
I wondered about that - a tight paramo or windproof under a poncho - but I'd be worried the poncho would flap everywhere in the wind if I climb up high.
All breathable jackets 'wet out' eventually and some of the lighter membrane jackets wear out quickly in high friction areas. There's a lot of hype out there about waterproofness.
Out-dry is the best, but they’re flimsy hoods/non adjustable. I own both Arcteryx beta ar and out-dry, out-dry is better in theory, not in practice. Wet-out is ok I guess, but wets out FAST. 🙁
It's true, we need real waterproof with no breathability, but pit zips for ventilation. There's no other way to endure a storm on the mountains, it's a myth with goretex.
I don’t see prices on any of these jackets and it’s hard for me to see the names I’d like to know the most reasonable price jacket that is 100% waterproof. Even if I walk in the pouring rain for an hour I want to make sure that I don’t get wet if anyone could help me thank you thank you thank you
I got a Patagonia Torentshell last year and it does work and look great but I do get pretty sweaty in it even with pit-zips down. I wish I’d have spent the extra $50 for a Patagonia Calcite with real Gore-Tex Pac Lite.
@@pgbaines65 I've Ace'terx LEAF trousers and they don't. I've used Berghaus as well, and I'll probably buy RAB as well, but none of them have any problems, and I noticed on the jacket playlist RAB wasn't even included or Berghaus for that matter! I walked about 25 miles over varied terrain and I wore trousers over jean-like normal trousers. No sweating. So I guess the quality of gear you used may have affected your comfort.
Nothing beats the breathability and comfort of a paramo jacket, i swear by them. Also one thing i detest is these brands using 'stick on' labels i think its for purposes of a limited use for the jacket meaning more costomers re buying jackets more times than if it was made to last.

Austrian Army Alpine Gore-Tex Jacket just *might* fit. They are made very roomy, in order to wear with several layers of thick clothes.
