    Thanks! Best idea I've seen! I have a 1994 StarCraft that sat for years. I just got the Mercruiser running decent and now it's time to clean it before trying to hit the water. Thanks for this hack, as I am on a budget, and didn't want to spend a lot on a boat I got on the cheap!

    If you want to save even more money, you can use straight liquid chlorine (exact same type you put in pools) and mix with some surfactant (dish soap) and it will work the same if not better. Just need to wash it down with a 4:1 mix of water (4 parts water, 1 part of pool chlorine).
    Just the same with Chlorox, don’t let it sit on anything metal like your trailer as the Sodium Hypochlorite will corrode it. SH is the active ingredient in all bleaches. It doesn’t matter what brand.

    If you have a pressure washer and have the ability to spray 10% bleach on it with some soap mixed you can let it soak for 5-10 and rinse it off. Thats all your "pro" boat detailer is going to do. A little quicker than the process your doing but same result.

      John Wayne invited me on board his Canadian Military Mine Sweeper Yacht, "Wild Goose" an showed me every state room. While in engine room, he's so proud of cleanliness of the Bilge water, he puts his hand on back of my head an gentle forced my head down to check out how clean his bilge water was, haha! When in pilot house he shows me ship's wheel, but I put my hands in my back pockets when I see how shinny brass it is! John Wayne sees me not wanting to touch wheel, slaps me on back, an says, while laughing, "we got a real sailor here"! Later I found out that No One Touched Ship's Wheel without white gloves except John Wayne himself!

      Does it foam up when you use water and scrub? I am looking for something to clean my whole 29ft amberjack

    • @anthonydecesare2054
      @anthonydecesare2054 4 роки тому

      wow wow slow down, use the toilet bowl cleaner only on tough stained areas like at the water line and below or in the bilges. The stuff contains hydrochloride acid that’s the active agent for the stain remover. You will find most of your expensive hull cleaners contain it as well (On Off for example) It would also take off any wax you may have previously applied. If that’s what you want to do and re wax go for it. Will it bubble? if scrubbed with a brush yes very small bubbles but enough to get in and clean your scum line. For the hull and top side of the boat I use car wash with a few shots of bleach mixed in plus water 5 gallon Loews bucket. I use a power washer plain water on my non skid surfaces figured out it works just as well on the smooth. My boat is all of 42 feet, I have experimented six ways to Sunday as far as cleaning and using different agents to clean while not removing wax. So far this is the best I can suggest and I am always open to opinions & suggestions.

    I just picked up a 1995 Whaler that was outside and uncovered for two years here and was half full of leaves and painfully stained. I've tried pricey products and magic erasers which just haven't done the trick. If your idea works i will forever call you "Oh Great One."

      Auton6 Do not used bleach on your upholstery. It will attack the threads and you’ll end up having to pay a canvas guy to restitch them. I know this because I am a canvas guy and see it all the time. There’s a product call Flite you can find it on amazon. Good cleaner!
