They should make it where if you grow the ancient plants on moss or in jungles/lush caves, it has a certain percentage chance of dropping seeds maybe like 18%, because it's being grown in proper conditions for it's time
If they named them torch flowers, they should make it so they give off light. That would be so cute. As for the pitcher pods, I think it would be cool if you could use them as an alternative water source for your crops since they look like they store water. Just place one of those flowers and they will keep the soil in surrounding crops moist just like a stream of water would.
i personlly don't think torch flowers should give off light, since they are based on a real flower. maybe they could have used the plant's real life name, red hot pokers, instead, but that name might cause an entirely different problem with this flower, depending on how dirty minded people are
Only mojang would add a mob that has a 6.5% drop rate for the egg from a rare mob that takes a total of 30-40 minutes to mature and is only used to get a single drop every 8 minutes (50% chance for the one you want), which is then used to farm a crop item that doesn't drop seeds, forcing you to repeat that last few steps. All of this only gets you a flower... they need to stop adding what "seems cool" and start adding features that make any sort of sense. Who would figure any of that out intuitively? Why would anyone ever grind for these? It's so pointless.
Some of us just like to collect everything and this is a rare collectible. My son also wants to make a zoo in our world with all the mobs. I still have never found one of these eggs.
You don't have to "grind" for everything. You don't have to turn every single block into a hyper-optimized megafarm to afk at for peak efficiency. Sometimes it's cool to just chill and search for unique items.
@@jgood005 You always need to think about scalability when adding something to a game all about building. What if my build requires 1000 torch flowers? I would have to raid submerged cities an average of 6-8 times, which takes around 10 minutes each. I would then have to wait 20 minutes for the egg to hatch, 20 minutes for it to grow to an adult and then wait 8 minutes per seed, which then takes an average of 25 minutes to grow. All in all, to get your first torchflower, you must spend 133 minutes, and then wait 33 minutes for each flower afterwards. This doesn't even touch the fact that you need a 6x6 minimum area per sniffer, that they remember the last 20 blocks "dug" and will not re-use them, that they only work on certain blocks, that you must use the expensive drops to breed them, or even that you only get a 50/50 chance to get the drop you want. The mob is just straight trash, and there is a reason nobody uses it.
The Java Drowned animation isnt new, it existed in the past but got removed. It was recently brought back. Also want to add that Dolphins are of help in finding warm ocean ruins Torchflowers can additonally be made into sus stew, which gives Night Vision
I started a new world (after a failed new world with the new update), and I found a nice jungle beside the ocean. I dived in, with a parrot I found who I named Repeat and we started our search. I found a small ruin not far from shore and I went under. I was frantically brushing to find suspicious sand as I ran out of air. I finally found some and began actually brushing. As the animation for the brush played I saw something poking out and realized it was the one thing I was hoping for: a sniffer egg. Drowned were starting to surround me as I grabbed the fully uncovered egg and frantically swam to the surface as I was starting to drown. I made it and Repeat and I raced back to shore with our new discovery. Now I’m here trying to find out more about the Sniffer. Thank you for this helpful video!! Edit: After seeing I need two eggs to start, I went back and found another piece of suspicious sand at the same ruin. It was another egg. I’m not sure if that’s super rare or something but I’m glad I don’t have to dive and risk my life for these chonky bois anymore, although it is worth it
The same way the top part of the pitcher plant always points the same way no matter which side you look at it from also happens with the lily of the valley, and it is even more noticeable
Love your videos! I've recently restarted Minecraft, I haven't played since they added the hunger meter. Now it feels like a whole other game; there is so much more to do and I feel somewhat overwhelmed but your videos have helped me understand the new mechanics better. Thanks!
17:29 the same can be said for flowers too! lily of the valley is the most notorious one! it always droops to the left, no matter what angle you look at it.
The Sniffer is the biggest dropped ball in Minecraft, it does basically nothing and it's stupidly rare, the flowers it digs up serve no purpose other that aesthetics and there's only 2 of them, I get Mojang not wanting the Sniffer to be too important as they are hard to find but in that case why not just make them easier to find? Say what you will about Glow Squids, Allays and Armadillos but at least you don't need to go through a bunch of steps to get 2 decorative flowers, even if they don't add more Sniffer exclusive items then at least make the Sniffer dig up more things like carrots, potatoes, bones, flint, and other things you could imagine are buried.
They really need to rework the hunger system, the way it is now, all other food but golden carrots is obsolete. I'd love for there to be different uses for different kinds of food.
Idk if this is only on bedrock version, but I notice that if you turn the tick speed up, it makes the egg hatch faster, but the snifflet still takes the full 20 minutes to grow into an adult. Neat :)
😊 NGL. I think this is the 1st time I've heard you sound Truly Excited, even PASSIONATE, about your chosen topic! It was sooo nice to hear you speak what sounded more naturally. I swear I could actually hear you **Smiling** when talking about the adorable Sniflet legs moving fast! ❤ Oh yeah, & Thanks for another great deep dive video! 🙂
A couple things about farming the seeds from sniffers If you connect a sculk sensor to a noteblock and put some hoppers around it, you can collect the items in a chest. The note block will play because of the constant sound around it and the allays will drop the items into the hoppers around the note block and you can meanwhile go about doing whatever Having more sniffers doesnt necessarily mean a more efficient farm. Sniffers store the last 20 blocks they sniffed in memory and wont sniff them again, so having too many can restrict their movement. From what I've found, one sniffer for every 30 blocks seems a optimum number
I know this video is old but i i really hope they add more ancient flowers and plants cause seriously two and they hardly do anything I have some ideas of what they can do (idk if people have thought of this but this is going off the top of my head) Torch flowers: 1. They should light up a terrain while that's a light level of 15-5 idk but it would be cool, idc if it's not realistic to the real game, it's meant to be a fantasy and this is a ancient ancestor or whatever 2. Could be used to make a potion of glowing, the same effect you get from spectral arrows, you could use this to make eaiser for your friends to find you if your lost, help in fights like splash potions or whatever you can think of 3. Maybe have it where it has more recipes to make it more useful then...orange dye, like it's petals can be used to specific used to heal negative debuffs like poison, wither and such, to give players an actual reason to find these things Pitcher plants: 1. I think since it's a pitcher planet you could haven't something? Like a liquid or syrup? And could be used to craft as splash potions of stickiness to make it where the ground temporarily gets covered in the dame liquid, another recipe would be bottles where it could heal an amount of hearts but drinking 3-4 bottles in less then a minute can cause nausea, i need to think more about this, could also be used to craft sugar and etc recipe substitute 2. It should have idk something that you would want it in the terrain, like a couple around your house, maybe if something undead gets to close it explodes (not like a creeper) but it traps the undead mobs with it's syrup or liquid idk what you call it, heck it could be a achievement "pitchers vs Zombies" 3. Make it where you can get the lower part, it could be a spud, like a potato but ancient? Idk i just want to grow it and be able to use for decoration Feedback is great and I would like to discuss what can be improve on the plants Also sorry for this random comment eyecraft, your video is great keep up the great work
So many new items with this update. Revisiting older parts of my world to update them. Mixed feelings about the Cherry Blossoms, I’ve already been building pink trees for a while now with Pink Carpet as my fallen petals.
I think that torch flowers should glow like torches and then also when you put it in a potion it could make you glow so you don’t need a torch in caves. Maybe the potter plant could give you the ability to see suspicious gravel or sand, like highlight it so archaeology is easier.
They should be edible and give you 2 unique abilities. Torch flower: run and jump boost at the same time Pitcher: makes food give extra satiation. Also you eat a pitcher salad before food and it has Max satiation
The farm mentioned in the video is a bit slower than an automated one if you're wanting an auto sniffer farm, dig down 3 blocks, place rails at the bottom of the trench you made, Place hopper minecarts, and place dirt blocks on top. Create a hopper chest system than lead two sniffers inside and afk there. once you've afk enough your chests will be filled with seeds no need for the allays.
Thank you for the great info on our awaited update! Hubby and I play Minecraft with our 4 yo and she CAN'T WAIT to see these new items! We've been watching your channel for updates! Great video👍
This comment is about the magic system in Minecraft and another potential use for the sniffer however I think that along with seeds they can also find something to get the player magical items/relics/potion ingredients.
I assumed that they hatch on moss because 1. Many animals irl make nests from moss, placing it on moss imitates their mothers nest 2. It ties into another recent biome feature, and encourages rhe use of a decorative block. Haybale would also be a logical block to do this, but its a comparatively old block with many uses. 9:45? Maybe not the best test, saplings can grow on mycellium.
I hope mojang adds more flower/plants in the future like the cancelled vines. Make torch flower emit light while the pitcher should be like bioluminescent like glow squid. Each biome should also offer unique plants to get.
matpat's gonna have a field day with these guys i saw someone say the torch flowers should glow in the dark, so i think that pitcher plants should lure in bees and anything else the bane of arthropod's enchantment works on, you could have a spider farm this way
The flower is a sign of accomplishment and dedication to the game. To obtain this flower, you must do a plethora of things. Honestly, if your goal is to gather this flower, theres at least 20 things you must do first. 1. Obtain copper ingots 2. Obtain feathers 3. Obtain sticks 4. Locate warm ocean biome 5. Every step required to brew water breathing potions. This is literally 15 steps in and of itself. Skip to 21. Locate ruins within the ocean biome 22. Discover 2 eggs 23. Locate moss blocks 24. Build pen for hatchlings 25. Obtain seeds from adults 25. Plant and grow seeds Honestly, it's not really a simple task. It was a fun adventure tonight for me and my fiancae to obtain the Sniffers. Already having plenty of potions and Elytras made it more convenient for us.
I believe the part about the optical illusion is true for most flowers, the only one I don't think it works on is sunflowers because they always face the same way.
So... go to a difficult place, twice, go to another difficult place if you want automation, then wait a long time, and then you get a decorative non-renewable crop... And we lost useful mobs for this?

You forgot that bees can make crops grow quicker if they get pollen from a flower and fly over a crop(so when planting torchflowers or pitcher plants, it would be a good idea to have some bees and some other flowers for the bees to go to)

Maybe the torch flower could be give players a splunker potion so we can have like x raying but with a potion. I say this because a torch helps light our view so in a potion effect it could light up ores through walls so we can see them.
Tip: try not to have too many of these guys in one pen, or, separate them in individual pens that you can stand in the middle between. When these guys are in close quarters they are more likely to push each other, and if the sniffer gets pushed while doing its "flop and dig" animation. It will break the animation and dig up nothing, but will still reset the cooldown. Meaning it wastes time. So either keep sniffers to a minimum, put them all in separate areas, or make the area really large so they are less likely to collide.

Just place one of those flowers and they will keep the soil in surrounding crops moist just like a stream of water would.
i personlly don't think torch flowers should give off light, since they are based on a real flower. maybe they could have used the plant's real life name, red hot pokers, instead, but that name might cause an entirely different problem with this flower, depending on how dirty minded people are
@@greninji3593 lol yeah maybe just sticking with the name Torch Flowers is best for now haha
Not me casually wanting the torch flower to let me throw fireballs 😬🤞🏼
Only mojang would add a mob that has a 6.5% drop rate for the egg from a rare mob that takes a total of 30-40 minutes to mature and is only used to get a single drop every 8 minutes (50% chance for the one you want), which is then used to farm a crop item that doesn't drop seeds, forcing you to repeat that last few steps. All of this only gets you a flower... they need to stop adding what "seems cool" and start adding features that make any sort of sense. Who would figure any of that out intuitively? Why would anyone ever grind for these? It's so pointless.
Im putting it in my garden
Some of us just like to collect everything and this is a rare collectible. My son also wants to make a zoo in our world with all the mobs. I still have never found one of these eggs.
@@wcellon I too want to make a zoo after watching these guys sniff around
But I feel it or the flowers should do something useful or unique
Also want to add that Dolphins are of help in finding warm ocean ruins
Torchflowers can additonally be made into sus stew, which gives Night Vision
*sus stew*
"It is not worthwhile to hurt these mobs" he says whilst brutally hacking and stabbing all the defenceless sniffers to death 😂
I think the best part of this video is just how cute Eyecraft finds the sniffers
Torch flower better become a light source or a brew for breathing fire or something
I’m not sure if that’s super rare or something but I’m glad I don’t have to dive and risk my life for these chonky bois anymore, although it is worth it
So I just watched a 17min video to tell me the mob, the seeds, the plants, and all the crap that goes with it... are useless. Awesome.
Classic mojang. Who would EVER find out about this intuitively? Why do I have to watch a guide on this “addition” to the game??
The same way the top part of the pitcher plant always points the same way no matter which side you look at it from also happens with the lily of the valley, and it is even more noticeable
Love your videos! I've recently restarted Minecraft, I haven't played since they added the hunger meter. Now it feels like a whole other game; there is so much more to do and I feel somewhat overwhelmed but your videos have helped me understand the new mechanics better. Thanks!
I feel you (I need to play it)
17:29 the same can be said for flowers too! lily of the valley is the most notorious one! it always droops to the left, no matter what angle you look at it.
This is the most useless big and complicated addition to Minecraft I've ever seen
still liked it tho, but yeah they could've added this with something else
They'd be great if torchflowers were more useful
It's probably just a flex to have, or Mojang will add useful features to it later on
Not everything needs a use.
@@TheWonkster every new feature adds lag to the game. Game gets heavier to run each time
5:35 Eye being cheerful with the Sniffers for 23 seconds
On the latest 1.20 snapshot the sniffer don't drop moss blocks, that's good cause I don't imagine such q monster killing em just to get that
They really need to rework the hunger system, the way it is now, all other food but golden carrots is obsolete. I'd love for there to be different uses for different kinds of food.
Idk if this is only on bedrock version, but I notice that if you turn the tick speed up, it makes the egg hatch faster, but the snifflet still takes the full 20 minutes to grow into an adult. Neat :)
I love how this man explains, I can watch his videos for hours
😊 NGL. I think this is the 1st time I've heard you sound Truly Excited, even PASSIONATE, about your chosen topic! It was sooo nice to hear you speak what sounded more naturally. I swear I could actually hear you **Smiling** when talking about the adorable Sniflet legs moving fast! ❤
Oh yeah, & Thanks for another great deep dive video! 🙂
I've not seen the pitcher pod seeds yet. The plant is so beautiful and I honestly can't wait to start growing them in my game!
I searched for this video after returning to minecraft after a few years break and finding 3 eggs in a few ocean ruins, good stuff!
I love the idea of harder to obtain stuff makes minecraft more challegong but i would really like to see them add more crops with the sniffer
A couple things about farming the seeds from sniffers
If you connect a sculk sensor to a noteblock and put some hoppers around it, you can collect the items in a chest. The note block will play because of the constant sound around it and the allays will drop the items into the hoppers around the note block and you can meanwhile go about doing whatever
Having more sniffers doesnt necessarily mean a more efficient farm. Sniffers store the last 20 blocks they sniffed in memory and wont sniff them again, so having too many can restrict their movement. From what I've found, one sniffer for every 30 blocks seems a optimum number
Love how each time he finds an egg he never shows it being brushed out lol
I know this video is old but i i really hope they add more ancient flowers and plants cause seriously two and they hardly do anything
I have some ideas of what they can do (idk if people have thought of this but this is going off the top of my head)
Torch flowers:
1. They should light up a terrain while that's a light level of 15-5 idk but it would be cool, idc if it's not realistic to the real game, it's meant to be a fantasy and this is a ancient ancestor or whatever
2. Could be used to make a potion of glowing, the same effect you get from spectral arrows, you could use this to make eaiser for your friends to find you if your lost, help in fights like splash potions or whatever you can think of
3. Maybe have it where it has more recipes to make it more useful then...orange dye, like it's petals can be used to specific used to heal negative debuffs like poison, wither and such, to give players an actual reason to find these things
Pitcher plants:
1. I think since it's a pitcher planet you could haven't something? Like a liquid or syrup? And could be used to craft as splash potions of stickiness to make it where the ground temporarily gets covered in the dame liquid, another recipe would be bottles where it could heal an amount of hearts but drinking 3-4 bottles in less then a minute can cause nausea, i need to think more about this, could also be used to craft sugar and etc recipe substitute
2. It should have idk something that you would want it in the terrain, like a couple around your house, maybe if something undead gets to close it explodes (not like a creeper) but it traps the undead mobs with it's syrup or liquid idk what you call it, heck it could be a achievement "pitchers vs Zombies"
3. Make it where you can get the lower part, it could be a spud, like a potato but ancient? Idk i just want to grow it and be able to use for decoration
Feedback is great and I would like to discuss what can be improve on the plants
Also sorry for this random comment eyecraft, your video is great keep up the great work
so the whole sniffer thing is just useless unless you want some beautiful plants... how disappointing
Eyecraftmc, you will always help me when my brother wants to learn about mobs in Minecraft.
Thank you much for posting these videos.
Congrats on 400K subs, dude!!! Well deserved with all of your Minecraft tutorials!
Torch flower: run and jump boost at the same time
Pitcher: makes food give extra satiation.
The fully grown pitcher pod ooks like the flowers in Avatar. Very beautiful.
These flowers should emit light! It would add so much ambiance!
Torch flowers need to emit a small glow when they are full grown flowers. It would look so cool
I wish there was more seeds depends on different types of grass such as the warped grass and so much more
For now its a good end game item to get once you are just trying to achieve as much as possible in a survival.
Fantastic. I'm excited for this. My gardens are gonn be ballin'
me realizing that you could make a torchflower farm with these sniffers: Aw yeah! infinite orange dye farm time baby!
This video made me realize I could learn all this and MORE on google in a quarter of the time lmao
Thank you for the great info on our awaited update! Hubby and I play Minecraft with our 4 yo and she CAN'T WAIT to see these new items! We've been watching your channel for updates! Great video👍
Thats great!

So many wonderful ideas coming from the community. It’s a shame they won’t be added by the developers
This comment is about the magic system in Minecraft and another potential use for the sniffer however I think that along with seeds they can also find something to get the player magical items/relics/potion ingredients.
I assumed that they hatch on moss because
1. Many animals irl make nests from moss, placing it on moss imitates their mothers nest
2. It ties into another recent biome feature, and encourages rhe use of a decorative block. Haybale would also be a logical block to do this, but its a comparatively old block with many uses.
9:45? Maybe not the best test, saplings can grow on mycellium.
"It isn't worthy killing these mobs"
*proceeds to kill all of them*
Dude made me fall asleep for 4 hours
Ngl seems like a huge effort for not much gain, maby if they found edible truffles that gave strength or short Xray vision would be good
Do you know suspicious stew, You can put torchflower for nightvision
I hope mojang adds more flower/plants in the future like the cancelled vines. Make torch flower emit light while the pitcher should be like bioluminescent like glow squid. Each biome should also offer unique plants to get.
so they are worthles
matpat's gonna have a field day with these guys
i saw someone say the torch flowers should glow in the dark, so i think that pitcher plants should lure in bees and anything else the bane of arthropod's enchantment works on, you could have a spider farm this way
Good video as always!
The flower is a sign of accomplishment and dedication to the game.
To obtain this flower, you must do a plethora of things. Honestly, if your goal is to gather this flower, theres at least 20 things you must do first.
1. Obtain copper ingots
2. Obtain feathers
3. Obtain sticks
4. Locate warm ocean biome
5. Every step required to brew water breathing potions. This is literally 15 steps in and of itself.
Skip to 21. Locate ruins within the ocean biome
22. Discover 2 eggs
23. Locate moss blocks
24. Build pen for hatchlings
25. Obtain seeds from adults
25. Plant and grow seeds
Honestly, it's not really a simple task. It was a fun adventure tonight for me and my fiancae to obtain the Sniffers. Already having plenty of potions and Elytras made it more convenient for us.
so..useless update? a mob that can sniff food for breed and the other seed is for decoration only
IMO the sniffer is great, but it is just a feature, not the whole update
Everything is decorative in this game tho?
Dragon Egg: Am I a Joke to you?
Di you even remember 1.15?
@@marshalllee6376 Everything *is* decorative. But everything also has an added use as well.
They probably grow on moss better because they're dinosaurs or from the Mesozoic Era, which was particularly warm and lush
Go through all of the work to get a useless flower
These are the same people that wont let us get Golems
It serves one purpose: decoration. Decoration doesnt mean useless
Thank you for this tutorial. I feel like I learned just about everything I needed to.
Whould be cool if the 2 plants could make Dye that glows. Like Glow squid ink sacs. So Orange Glow dye and Cyan Glow Dye
A feature thats better off just given to the glow ink sac. Glow Squids need more use since we are stuck with them
I believe the part about the optical illusion is true for most flowers, the only one I don't think it works on is sunflowers because they always face the same way.
So... go to a difficult place, twice, go to another difficult place if you want automation, then wait a long time, and then you get a decorative non-renewable crop... And we lost useful mobs for this?
Why are you finding ocean ruins difficult bruh. Also the crops are renewable from the sniffer

@@AAOA2009 We have no idea what the rascal's rewards would be. The iron pick was a place holder, like the plant in the sniffer video.
I agree very much under used and under appreciated I hope they change more about the function and utility of the sniffer and the crops like maybe add brewing recipes
Or I'm not going to ever need to getting a sniffer and a pointless flower that's for decorating and dyes as ALL of the flowers already do that!
@@rejvaik00 the Flower is not pointless you can use it for night vision mushroom stew
You forgot that bees can make crops grow quicker if they get pollen from a flower and fly over a crop(so when planting torchflowers or pitcher plants, it would be a good idea to have some bees and some other flowers for the bees to go to)
The torchflower, Etlingera elatior, an actual tropical plant, that, as far as I'm aware, doesn't glow.
Would be fun, if we could cook sniffer eggs that could be used as quirky columns block or a cake like food resource.
I really think the Hide n Seek creature would have been much better.
I like new items and objects. It’s just a shame that they don’t do much.
Now I know there is potential for the future. I’m personally sick of getting new items that do nothing.

Great use of the Allay! Never thought they work so well with Sniffers!
Maybe the torch flower could be give players a splunker potion so we can have like x raying but with a potion.
I say this because a torch helps light our view so in a potion effect it could light up ores through walls so we can see them.
super helpful video!
They really asked for this over the Golem.
I think it’s quickest because the ancient sniffers would make their nests outta moss so it’s what their adapted to
I hope we get a 3rd plant or mayby even a 4th plant. I love these 2 plants allready but i want moar!
We probably will but probably not in snapshots instead in one of the minor updates (1.20.1 or 1.20.2 or whatever)
*more
Tip: try not to have too many of these guys in one pen, or, separate them in individual pens that you can stand in the middle between.
I dont think i will ever do any of this
fr the developers dont have a brain
these flowers should be part of a recipe for a 100x100 tnt
way too hard to get for it to just be decorative
i think it would be cool if the torch flowers acted like their name implies an was a source of light. would make flower garden pop so much more
Sure would be nice if Mojang would focus on new blocks and furniture options rather than useless mobs.
I would enjoy more actual features, to be honest.
