@@SquirefromtheShire I differentiate the recently aired episodes from the decade old ones by checking out the title. If it contains “S1” or anything before season 8, it’s older than your mom.
I remember that Al Qaeda guy because he looks like the former Spanish President Mariano Rajoy.
ITT Tech was barred from using government loans two years after this episode. They immediately shut down and filed for bankruptcy.
Which they could file for, unlike those stuck with student loans. Fucking bastard broken system.
My wife had loans with ITT tech. They got forgiven thankfully.
10 years and it’s still as raw as if it happened yesterday. But I take solace in the knowledge that those geckos are in heaven now, fucking angels.

I was incredibly lucky in hindsight……I supposedly attended an online university. From the outset, I thought things were fishy as the curriculum for IT was horribly outdated. But I fell for the Clinton push for you need to retrain yourself for these “new” jobs. I did get some FAFSA loans, but what I ended up with useless education and a huge debt, to the point I cashed in my meager retirement fund get the bloody thing half paid off. I took a hit for cashing out early and so forth. The good news is that dare I say it Biden did something helpful to help me (1) discharge the remainder of my loan after ten years (2) most importantly I got my retirement refunded to me.
Those 4 gecko's needed a bear instead of a boy.😂😂😂

4:45 "Fun" fact, most of Europe and the United States cheerd-on the rise of fascism. The Nazis weren't the enemy, the Italian fascists weren't the enemy, the Japanese weren't the enemy, they were just the people who stepped on the wrong imperial toes. Fascism was more popular among Western leaders (especially economic and political, but also some cultural/religious) than people want to remember/acknowledge. It was especially popular among capitalists, because they knew what fascism was about back then, even if today they pretend like fascism (including Nazism) was all a leftist ideology "because socialism, and didn't you know Mussolini was a Marxist before he started fascism?"
Fascism has only been a moral panic away because, given that the world's "normal" is right wing (if you don't understand how/why, you should take some time to learn/think about what it really means to be left/right. Hint: it's based on hierarchy, including political and economic). The lessons learned from WWII had nothing to do with atrocities or fascism, and everything to do with "America is #1 because we saved the world single-handedly from evil (that we actually sided with even DURING the war, because we both hated anyone who leaned even slightly left). Oh, and the other Allies helped, too, I guess."

I was in college in 2014, graduated in 2017 with about $55k in debt.
Now I'm about $50k in debt. Really wish I'd gone ahead with the fireworks out of every possible orifice.
It is depressing how much of this is repeating. Or still ongoing, as the case might be. But at least once in a while, you get to see a bullet dodged.

Why do we keep issuing debt if it keeps going up,the solution should be to cap tuition fees and force people to pay up front. I know this would be incred8bly difficult to implement but it's similar to the 2008 crash where everyone defaulted in their mortgages, if people can't repay its gonna to hurt the country when it comes to a head, which could be curbed if less debt is issued, there are more strict laws on debt lending and interest rates. I understand the need for fund but laws need to be made to limit debt to only those who can show the ability to repay. I'm no pro but if debt keeps growing and the gov doesn't care, why doesn't everyone just get into as much debt as humanly possible. If there's no consequence for not repaying debts then the whole system breaks

*What is education?*
In its most basic terms education amounts to time spent reading at a desk. A quality education amounts to quality time and quality materials and not necessarily quantity. A person does not need a university degree to become educated and any smart person can gather better resources than defined by a university by knowing how to use a bibliography. The American system wants you to believe that only by paying for expensive class time and chasing a dream of applied knowledge in a job one can claim the rights to being educated. This is not true. In fact, a better education can be had outside the classroom because the universities have a concept of most-valuable-assets where they don’t just give you the facts or quality books. If they were to do this everyone would amount to a vast aristocracy and there would be no reason for a profitable setting in the classroom.
