    * leather halters (adjustable and non adjustable)
    * quick catch halter (fits many sizes, good for quickly leading)
    * nylon halter (adjustable and non adjustable)
    * rope halter (more narrow, more clear signal)

I've had horses for 50 years and worked in numerous barns... how have I never seen a quick catch halter before now?!!! I NEED one!

That quick catch halter is pretty cool! I need to buy one. I also love the traditional look of leather - and also save those halter for special occasions 😂

As usual, what a great informative video! Thank you!!
I absolutely love triple stitched leather halters for their beauty, durability and comfort on the horses hair and skin, but a nice one can be a bit pricey. Like any piece of leather it does require some cleaning and care. If you have a horse that doesn't tie well, don't use a leather halter when tying. It will quickly break. But if you turn out with halters, a single strip unstitched leather or at least one with an unstitched crown piece is the halter to use so if they do get hung up on something they will be able to break it to get out of a scary and dangerous situation.
Your quick catch halter is wonderful! Great idea.
Rope halters are so handy and easy to use. As you pointed out they can also be a bit of an attention getter to the horse. The color combinations are almost endless. A very durable and affordable option as well.
Flat nylon halters are great because they are styled after the traditional leather halters but they are MUCH more affordable, durable, and come in oodles of colors. My only hesitation for them is that the more mud and exposure to the elements they get the stiffer and more difficult they become. These are another example of spend the money and get a good stitched nylon halter instead of the much less expensive single strip. The unstitched haters are still very strong but they are floppy and annoying to use. I completely avoid a halter with brass grommets for the crown piece buckle holes and/or if there is a metal piece on the end of the crown piece, like Hamilton halters. The metal is beautiful but if the halter is stressed by a horse pulling back when tied or hung up, or if a horse steps on the halter, the grommets can distort making the one hole unusable, and in one situation I saw, the halter had to be cut off the horses head because the tongue of the buckle and the grommet distorted so badly. I stopped using Hamilton halters in the early 1990's after I was turning a friends horse out and went to remove his halter. The cap on the end of the crown piece caught as it was slipping through the buckle and this horse decided to bolt at the same time. The cap was pulled off and rocketed past my face and through my hair on its way by. Literally 2 inches over and the metal cap would have hit my eye. Always expect the unexpected with horses. I would not recommend leaving a nylon halter on for turnout.

Rope halters are the best for most uses for me. So many advantages. So versatile. I can lead the horse. I can ride the horse in the rope halter. No need for the complexities of the traditional hackamore and added get down rope. The rope halters satisfies the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid).

You're welcome. I did a podcast the other day...live. I was coughing like a crazy person (I tried to mute myself for the worst parts, lol). So if you really want to hear me sounding rough...go listen to The Horses in the Morning podcast.

I really don’t like any metal on halters even though they look great.

Thanks for the feedback. I had (have) a terrible cold and my voice sounds all crackly. I think I usually turn the volume of the music down lower...but I sounded terrible.
