    WT Hibbert in Breckenridge Texas was the first person to tie those halters . He used the same knot through out the halter. He got a patron on those halters back in the 70s I believe. He shod horses for Many many years and made thousands of those halters I still have some of the ones he made. His wife Sue would make the lead ropes. He was a darn good man and a dear friend.

    Growing up as a broke barrel racer, I paid for my first local show season making and selling these halters at 12yrs old! I used to sell em for literally 10 bucks a piece or 15 with a lead rope, talk about cheap labour 😅

    I’ve been making halters for nearly 7 years and the way I learned a fiador knot was really confusing but this make so much more sense to me! I had never thought of it like a rosebud!

  • @gordontaylor8689
    @gordontaylor8689 4 роки тому +22

    I grew up calling the halter knot a rosebud, and the fiador knot a turks head - always called the knot that went around the heel knot of bosal a fiador knot. Nice halter, best video and explanation i've seen!

    I quit making the fedora then started making the Massey Walker, it looks just as good and doesn't take as long. However a good presentation. When I am in a hurry I make a double square knot all the through the halter.

    This message is for the city folk, always plan your trip through Guthrie Texas. Stop 🛑 and eat at in Guthrie Texas. If you are lucky, you might see a Real Cowboy 😮. Wearing real, leather chaps and spurs. Look outside, in the parking lot and see a horse 🐴 trailer, with a real working horse.
    You will never forget that.
