WT Hibbert in Breckenridge Texas was the first person to tie those halters . He used the same knot through out the halter. He got a patron on those halters back in the 70s I believe. He shod horses for Many many years and made thousands of those halters I still have some of the ones he made. His wife Sue would make the lead ropes. He was a darn good man and a dear friend.
Growing up as a broke barrel racer, I paid for my first local show season making and selling these halters at 12yrs old! I used to sell em for literally 10 bucks a piece or 15 with a lead rope, talk about cheap labour 😅
I’ve been making halters for nearly 7 years and the way I learned a fiador knot was really confusing but this make so much more sense to me! I had never thought of it like a rosebud!
I grew up calling the halter knot a rosebud, and the fiador knot a turks head - always called the knot that went around the heel knot of bosal a fiador knot. Nice halter, best video and explanation i've seen!
Happy to see my man Tru Burson is doing well. Been a fan since seeing the Texas Racehorse team video years ago. Sincerely, A Yankee from the northeast.
Thank you for doing this! I tried tying one a while back and only got so far before I got lost. Maybe I can actually finish it now. Thank ya DB and True.
Hi all you handsome ranch men... Love the videos ... looking for the new ones... I was hoping that you could do more of these... love the bulls but would really love some horse secrets from you... Thank you so much... keep safe and keep making us smile ... love and light to you all ❤️
I quit making the fedora then started making the Massey Walker, it looks just as good and doesn't take as long. However a good presentation. When I am in a hurry I make a double square knot all the through the halter.
Good stuff something tells me this guy never loses a fish. Hey Dale you need to do a podcast from inside your tack room.. boone in the background of course That room in room is bad feng shui Ol'son! 😀

Questions for Mr. Burson; he & the Mrs. have a website ?? wish to add a few knots and change the location of a few for an experiment ?? You do that ?? May I have a different color of rope ?? Thanks Angelia
Hey I got a question hopefully someone can give me an answer. If I like to have a 4 knot noseband, should I add an extra 8 or so inches to the original 74 inches of slack before the first overhand knot? Let me know, thanks.
Now I have a few goats . They work better for the land I'm on. Lots of weeds and brush . We have a good market for goat around here . So I have roped them lol.
Nice video! 🤠🤠 The board is SUPER helpful!! I’ve only seen a different way of doing the fiador knot 🪢 , dunno if I’ll manage to do it like that 😅 what rope is used? cause the only ones I can find are too unrigid 1/4" polypropylene ropes, found some rigid once but they were elastic. a type of rope that I’d find in Spain (Europe) too, cz thats where I’m at 😆
I am an Oldman now and l always wanted to know how to tie a halter. You just changed my mind it would be easier to fly a 747

halter knot, isn't a mathew walker knot, but also known as a double overhand knot, lovers knot, and a water knot. good tip using the marked board.
Quick question, when you do a 4 knot halter, do you alternate the direction of the knots on the noseband?
great video got a little confused on the fiador knot but i got it
I quit making the fedora then started making the Massey Walker, it looks just as good and doesn't take as long. However a good presentation. When I am in a hurry I make a double square knot all the through the halter.
What's a Massey Walker please? Is it a different type of halter? I tried google but no luck.
I knew someone would show me how to tie a halter!! hmm might be faster to just buy a couple?

Halters and caps are both online now! DaleBrisby.com
can you please take a picture of the board to show the way the knots are drawn?
I used to make halters for fun and then my trainer told me I had too many halters 😂 I don’t even own a horse and have around 6 halters 😂👍
You don't have too many halters. You have halters for all the horses you will get in the future.
The solution is to, buy a horse 🐴
Hello .
In your opinion , what is the ideal kind of rope for a training rope halter ?
What True calls a halter knot is also called a double overhand knot, I think.

Over hand knot. Tie it one of 2 ways. Left over right, or right over left. It's a lot easier to show folks than explain.
