- I review the Razor EcoSmart electric scooter after over 3 years of ownership. In this long term review I show the difference in range between a used EcoSmart scooter and one that is relatively new.

just came across your channel.....DO NOT give up....this is an easy to understand video, likeable and smoothly delivered......you will have many many more subscribers soon :-)
Thank you for watching!
best thing you can do for this scooter is buy a 11s 7p lithium battery pack and the charger to match it and you will get a lot more power and a 30 mile range. you dont need to modify anything, i have put a few hundred miles on mine with this setup with no problems to the motor or controller.
Thanks for throwing this in here for the benefit of others.
Do you have a link to the battery you bought?
I would like to know where you bought the better battery.
@@UrbanMonkTV According to the user manual making any unauthorized modifications can actually void your FCC authority to operate the vehicle.
Razor uses lead acid batteries in their products for a reason and that reason being that the current lithium ion battery technology is not as safe and is prone to catching fire. Razor electric vehicles are riding toys rather than serious transportation devices which explains why the overall range on these vehicles isn't very high.
A good way to improve overall range is to make sure that your tires are properly inflated as proper inflation reduces the amount of friction between the tires and road surface thus increasing speed without using as much battery power. I have to inflate my tires and charge my batteries myself as I havn"t taken mine out in quite a while.
@@michaezell4607 Are you referring to the Federal Communications Commission? What would they have oversight of in regards to scooters? It's an unlicensed vehicle without a a title?
Great info. Just got one and just finished assembling the scooter. I’m going to take it on my first ride in 2days.
Thanks for watching! Enjoy your ride.
Awesome video!!!
Thanks for watching.
Great video.. These scooters definitely have a use. A quick trip to the store is a great idea. I’d be concerned though about it being stolen while I am in the store. A chain and lock would be in order I guess..
Thanks for watching. That risk would depend on the neighborhood, but yes, a lock is easily taken with.
The other thing is thieves may not immediately know where the power switch is.

I ride mine in the store, nobody has ever said anything
I have been studying up on these things.I didn't know you could let batteries charge continuously like that.I thought once it was fully charged you were suppose to stop charging or the battery could be ruined.Trying to decide between this scooter or the Honeywhale ebike since I would not be using it everyday or that much.Bacically just to get on it and take the bike path one mile to the next town to WM.Also, need one I can easily take the battery out of and charge on my bacony since I live on the second floor.I would defintely upgrade to a better battery when the original died. Thanks for your video.
Good video Monk. I don't think I would buy one of them for two reasons. Primarily, the limited range and secondly, lack of power for even the slightest of hills.
Thanks !!!

Ok I have a question before I buy this next week am I able to put one of my leg slightly out because I have hip injuries and can’t sit properly
I can't make any expert recommendations in your particular case, but I would guess it would work out. Only a guess though, difficult for me to know. Not advice.
hey:) hope everybodys well.. i have a ecosmart 350 watt hubmetter the blackframed one.. im getting ready to upgrade the batterys from 7ah... to....9ah......i took off the hood to get to the batterys..the batterys are on there side witch makes the terminal on there side.. i was a little confused because iv noticed on the white framed ecosmartscooters.. the batterys are up right in the box...was just wondering if i can get anyones opinion on this is this normal.. thanx :)
Thanks for watching. I hope you get the information you are seeking from someone here eventually.
Thanks 😊

I'm looking into this for a ride to work, how do they do on hills? (Not very steep ones)
They do fine. Depends on weight, grade and state of battery charge of course. #1 priority is keep tires properly inflated.
@@UrbanMonkTV and how would one upgrade the battery if you know?
@@Chloe_thefoxstudios I haven't researched, but I am aware of lithium ion batteries for sale on ebay that some people have installed for greater range. May require new charger though. Again, I've not researched.
Anyone know how to add solar chargers to this? I read a review on Target for this Ecosmart review and that's what one of the reviewers said they did. Can someone look up that review and read it and explain to me how it's done?
Thanks for watching. I haven't made any mods like that, but perhaps someone will chime in here with insight.
You need same plug adapter and know the voltage and amps it may take. Then the solar panel needing to right watt to charge. The bigger the more watts. To much of a hassle imo
@@echo1er The plug is standard XLR from music world (microphones). Can get at Guitar Center or eBay.
Looking good might get one I have a e bike is this worth getting ?
Hard to say whether you'd like owning this razor or not when you have another option in the stable.
I bought a Razor a year ago. Not happy at all. I use it once a week. In the beginning I could go up to 10 miles with a charge. Now it only goes 3 miles with a full charge. I need a new bat . Do you know how much it costs? and where I should get one? Thanks.
I see many options for replacements on eBay ranging from $60 to $150. There was another viewer who commented here that he replaced the original batteries with lithium ion batteries and gets much better range out of his. I know those are available on ebay also but can't make a specific recommendation. Thanks for watching!
@@UrbanMonkTV thank you for the reply. I appreciate it. Like I said. I barely use it and now I have to get another battery. And it's not easy to change. too many wires ...very disappointed.
This was great but I'd like to know the total distance of the 6 and 10 laps respectively and what type of battery is fitted in the scooters? Also, what type of charging system? How long does charging take?
Thanks for watching. Some of the questions you ask were answered in the video. Battery is 36 volt. The Razor website can offer more detailed specifications. I'd guess fully charging takes 12 hours or more.

I have a problem with my razor scooter where the chain keeps coming off of it
Hmm. I haven't investigated whether there's any adjustment possible with chain tension but if there is I'd check that first. The other is alignment of the sprockets and finally check if sprocket teeth are worn badly. All could cause that.
Did you inflate to the 40psi?
Yes. 40 psi is a perfect pressure for tires like these. Good and hard - good and round. Nothing kills range like a low tire pressure on these things. (Except for maybe lots of uphill grades.)
Will it make it 5miles on one charge?
Certainly when it is newer. Over time, no. Lots of variables. Thanks for watching!
Can you tell me how many batteries it take
I've never opened them up to look. Perhaps I will do a video on that in the future.
Thank You for The Feedback Great Video
How much do they cost 🤔 ❤❤
I purchased during holiday sales event and recall paying $350 with the basket. Thanks for watching!
The battery needs to be stronger and longer lasting. I might get a couple of miles before it goes dead.
Thanks for watching!
How much do a back rim for a e electrical scooter
I'm sorry, I don't understand your question.
These scooters get only 40 mins of operation
Thanks for watching. I'd say less than that under certain circumstances such as the hills around my area (and with my 190lb mass sitting on it). My kids can go 40 minutes easy but they're half my weight.
@@UrbanMonkTV true that I'm 6ft3 270 lbs I was curious about this product do you think it'll be a good fit for me?for a 3 mile commute?
@@UrbanMonkTV I have an e bike but I been curious about one of these e scooters with the seat for some time now
@@UrbanMonkTV on my e bike it takes me 20 mins to get to and from work it's a 3 mile run really 2.9 miles
