Bye Bye Black Box. I'll miss you. R.I.P. Black Box 2002 - 2011. We'll remember you for Underground, Underground 2, Most Wanted 2005, Carbon, Prostreet, Undercover, World, and The Run. This documentary was very touching to me. Thank you.
This is by far the best documentary I have seen in terms of quality, presentation, and I've seen many. Cam, I said earlier this would put you on the map, so, I propose you to show this to the Need for Speed Channel here on UA-cam, it's good enough. Your story telling skills are awesome, by the way, so as the way you presented this. Really, good work, Cam. Thanks, Racer
Cam this is amazing, you brought me back to my childhood in a way I've never experienced, and the drastic changes that the franchise went through never hit me until now, and I can clearly see the inspiration that NFS 2015 has taken from older games in the series especially Most wanted 2005 and Underground 2
Can’t believe this is 5 years old now. Still Cam’s most underrated video and deserves a million views. The amount of fucking man hours he put into this i can’t even imagine doing myself, this is actual passion for the series. If only Ghost could’ve upheld the need for speed name to the standard of Black Box.
I'm young so I didn't get to experience the earlier games. Thanks to the 2010 Hot Pursuit Remaster at least I got to play that. My fav is Most Wanted and Shift.
Getting an interview with Mr. Drew Hahn was great thinking. I wish team BlackBox gets united again to make more legendary games. Thank you for putting so much hard work and making such an informative full-length documentary with lots of in-game footage. Great work guys. I loved watching every minute of it. Keep posting !
I'm very impressed, this is perfect. Finally a documentary from a true NFS fan, not just some random clips from the games. It's even better than I expected it to be, this is why you're one of my favourite youtubers. Ever. Thank you for making me feel nostalgic (especially on NFS II, both Undergrounds and Most Wanted), thank you for this beautiful documentary, you are just amazing and you blew me away.
Cam, Cam, Cam... Well done fam! I watched it all the way through, it made me realise what NFS games I really do and do not care about lol. But my days, the nostalgia almost brought tears to my eyes, seriously. The music selection was very entertaining and I'm glad you put a tracklist on the end because I was definitely gonna ask haha. Your work was also very polished and I can see the effort and all you went through to make this happen. I have to give this a favourite, look how well your video is doing ALREADY! Props for this one man, keep it up :D
Nice to see Hot Pursuit 2 getting some credit. I've always noticed 2 (maybe 3 now) distinct generations of Need for Speed fans: those that came before Underground and those that came after (although now, you might argue that a 3rd generation would include those who came around since about Hot Pursuit 2010 or after). All of the Need for Speed games that came before Underground tend to get lost in the Underground hype, and that's disappointing.
They deserve credit the most, if it wasn't for them, Underground wouldn't exist. Maybe another racing game company would've tried to make something on import racing sure, but, the OG need for speeds is what started a whole generation of racing game fans. The first 6 NFS games deserve the PROPER remaster treatment.
...and 3 years later, another guy comes saying "wooooow" You brought my whole childhood back with all the NFS titles till U2. Oh the nostalgia... I really don't know what you have as a job in RL but Jesus....this documentary is epic!
I may be 5 years late but this is awesome i am new to ur channel keep up the great work this channel is cool I never have had watched 2 hour vid without getting bored but this caught everyones attention keep it up stay safe!
this is an amazing documentary, i love how you explain every single need for speed game, i´ve played all and you make me fell like a kid in the way how you put it
OH MY GOD! YOU HAVE ME CRYING. THIS IS THE BEST CAR DOCUMENTARY I HAVE EVER WATCHED. A MAJOR HANDCLAP TO YOU. YOU DESERVE AN AWARD FOR THIS. YOU SIR ARE AN AWESOME PERSON.
This was so amazingly well done it gave me flashbacks from years ago and got me hyped for the future of need for speed, great work on this documentary man
Great video as always, The time and effort put into this probably took hours upon hours. This video deserves to be recognised by the community and the developers. Well done!
I can't believe that I spent almost two hours watching your great video. Amazing work! Hopefully Ghost Games will bring out a game every Need For Speed wants since Underground, Underground 2, Most Wanted (2005) and Carbon.
Looking back, I have to admit, as much as it pains me to say it, that Criterion actually made some great NFS games, despite the drifting around every corner and the 10 second crash scenes.
Subbed! Great job man! I was gonna watch about 15 mins then go to sleep and here I am an hour or so later just done watching it. I consider both Carbon and MW2005 the very best of the NFS series. Those two games are like siblings. You can't just choose one over the other
***** To each one their own! I never really got to play UG2 even tho I beat it (with cheats). That was ages ago tho. i was probably 10. I'm soon gonna be 14. Might go back and try it for real this time
Man I loved it, what a documentary it was!! I have seen it a few times but still loving it. Good job with the hard work, hope to see more from you. GO NFS!!! ;)
Im speechless, I couldn't ask for a better documentary on the Need For Speed franchise. Thank you for putting your time and effort for this, near 2 hours of nostalgia. And the quality of the video, holy sh*t its amazing, 100/100 metacritic, hehe Thank you, and all the people who helped to make this.
I honestly don't know how to put this into words, but what an amazing piece of content. All the memories and throwbacks this has given me is all thanks to the effort you put in. To work on something so hard and for so long (the past year) must have been an incredibly difficult task, but it really shows your dedication and passion for UA-cam. I've honestly never seen anyone put that much work in a video. And because of this, I honestly think this is the best video on UA-cam right now. You have my respect!
Very, VERY well done I must say! Really love how much you went into detail with every game, especially when it comes to the gameplay mechanics of the Black Box-era games. I'm not quite sure what else is there to say. :D Again, you did a great job and the guests were a very cool part of the video as well. :)
It may not have invented everything, but it tried everything a recing game could try, that's why i admire this series so much, if you don't try it you will never know if it works for the NFS Series
2017, Need For Speed under ghost games was the best thing it can ever happen to the series and for the fans. Payback, bringing back what we loved in both Most Wanted '05 and Carbon, more customization options, more cars, and new location. Don't let us down Ghost Games, you're doing well so far.
If I had to make a personal list: 1. Underground 2 - When I was age 5 and my brother was 10 I always watched over his shoulder while he raced and costumized our car. Sometimes I played it, but my brother was older and better at the game. 2. Most Wanted (2005) - This is the game I always played with my friend. It is also a fairly big reason why we are friends for life. Without this game we would probably would have never met eachother, because we were the only ones at our school who shared the passion and love for Need For Speed. Always when I see this game and its logo, I remember to the rainy and windy days we spend at his house were we played this game for a very long time... 3. Shift 2 Unleashed - This is the first NFS game I bought on my own and dragged me into the NFS franchise again. I was going trough a hard time; my uncle and aunt died in a car accident, I had a hard time at school, I had pissed of half of my school because I turned down a populair, (ugly) girl at schooland her friends wanted to make my life as hard as possible (they are crazy bitches). So when I was home alone on a cloudy day I went and played this and it made me so calm and gave me a feeling of being strong. When I play Shift 2 it makes me feel like I'm the only one on the world at that moment. I love the costumization, proffesional drivers and the championships and cars, even the soundtrack makes me almost emotional. It does makes me sad when there are no people who share this game the same way as I do... These are the best NFS to me, I played almost every one, but these are just part of my history.
Amazing documentary it shows that theirs always a NeedforSpeed fan in you and I am one of them.this documentary makes me wanna cry tho for how far NeedforSpeed has grown. 😢😢😢
This was absolutely amazing. Your hard work and dedication has definitely paid off. I enjoyed this more than most movies I've seen. I can't wait for NFS 2015 and I hope that it is the saviour of such a great franchise!
It's 8:49 am in the morning and The History of NFS has finished. Perfect. Was not disappointed at all and was definitely worth the wait. Nice way to spend 9 months wasn't it?
This was the first ever video I saw from your channel and I instantly subbed, thank you a lot for making this video as it reminded me of the great moments I have had while playing the francise, Underground 2 was one of the first games I have ever played and I still do to this day, please carry on making these great videos, thanks a lot.
43:17 best bit of acting I've seen in a racing game xD NFSMW was by far the best because of the pursuit system, that and Earl's Sprint is always tuff AF Heat 1: "Boring! omg you sqashy cops are ass" Heat 2: Still ass, OMG STOP YEETING YOURSELVES" Heat 3: "OK...Now we're having fun" Heat 4: "=D" Heat 5: "OMG THERES SARGENT CROSS! lemme just slow down to get a better look at your ca- OH S**T!" Heat 6: "O_O" Hippo: "If you got busted, you'd have to pay a fine" Me: "Not if you soft reset every time ;)"
Greatest documentary about a franchise that I ever seen We can see that you spent many of your time searching and studying, maybe living need for speed to make this Thank you guy, wasn't the best 2 hours spent in my life watching something (because star wars movies exists), but it worth every second watching.
I recently started playing nfs again with nfs heat (First since Hot pursuit 3) and was looking for the history and stuff of the series. This documentary delivered more than i expected. Great Video!!!
High Stakes is the first NFS with customization, it later becomes the essential part in NFS nowadays, and that's why NFS fan claimed it the last good NFS in PS1 era
Great work cam...seriously. i can tell how much time and effort you have put into this. I found this actually really interesting and brought back memories i have of playing the NFS games of old. Also your documentary voice was really clear and informative. Loved it!..the whole thing. Keep it up man :)
Even though this video is outdated somewhat it is still a great video. I have never played NFS 2015, NFS Payback, and NFS Heat cuz I got out of touch with the series after NFS Rivals. I hope Criterion will make NFS great again.
If there were to be a TV channel for gaming, this would be one of the best documentaries to be aired. Undoubtedly an excellent presentation of the entire Need for Speed series.
I know I'm a little late but... this brought a tear to my eye at the world part with it closing and the end. good job cam. it's definitely a staple of your channel. :)
StraightUpHippo I can tell. it's something I can't help but watch more than once it's just so well put together. how long did it take to make this mind me asking?
wish you had recorded the pc versions of the early games so they dont look quite so dated. especialy with a glide wrapper installed which would have give you a decent resolution to capture. other than that small gripe I loved every minuet of this thanks alot
they made hot pursuit, most wanted 2012, they weren't that good as far as long term playing games. but they should've focused on the opposite. tuner cars, just like underground. THAT'S what we wanted.
No problem! Was it hard not to give your thoughts on the games you didn't like? Also, I watched till the very end, I loved this. I'm just curious, what was your first need for speed? Mine was underground 2.
I played NFS 2 once because I stayed over at a friend's house one night and he had a Playstation. I remember that info piece about the GT90. It is still the only time I ever got to play that car in a game, 24 years ago.
Bye Bye Black Box. I'll miss you. R.I.P. Black Box 2002 - 2011. We'll remember you for Underground, Underground 2, Most Wanted 2005, Carbon, Prostreet, Undercover, World, and The Run. This documentary was very touching to me. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed man! :)
It also made me tear up a little.
+JonesBrothersProductions Man i was almost crying at the end of Black Box games, some manly tears go down ;-;
Again

Looking back, I have to admit, as much as it pains me to say it, that Criterion actually made some great NFS games, despite the drifting around every corner and the 10 second crash scenes.
Lord Pie I didnt personally mind the drifting :P

You should! :)
Im speechless... Cam this was literality AMAZING!! Great job :)
Thnx Vincent
I have a feeling that most NFS games can never reach its full potential because of development time
Lack of time, money, and good management are what kill large scale games both figuratively and/or literally.
The memories that this brings to me are beatifull, im almost crying
Great job, just cant put it in here how gratefull i am
Thank you for doing this
Thnx for watching man! Hope you stay to see the rest of my content! :D
***** Of course im going to follow your content from today on :3
:D
Maybe in another 20 years we can see part 2 :p
maybe ;D
Man I loved it, what a documentary it was!! I have seen it a few times but still loving it. Good job with the hard work, hope to see more from you. GO NFS!!! ;)

Adil Ilyas Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed! :D

Im speechless, I couldn't ask for a better documentary on the Need For Speed franchise.
Thank you for putting your time and effort for this, near 2 hours of nostalgia.
And the quality of the video, holy sh*t its amazing, 100/100 metacritic, hehe
Thank you, and all the people who helped to make this.
It took me over a year to put together haha, thanks for the kind words man! :D
Your gonna get big
Thanks for this I've been wanting this forever
Ps you were right about project cars being shit haha
I honestly don't know how to put this into words, but what an amazing piece of content. All the memories and throwbacks this has given me is all thanks to the effort you put in. To work on something so hard and for so long (the past year) must have been an incredibly difficult task, but it really shows your dedication and passion for UA-cam. I've honestly never seen anyone put that much work in a video. And because of this, I honestly think this is the best video on UA-cam right now. You have my respect!
Good stuff :)
Very, VERY well done I must say! Really love how much you went into detail with every game, especially when it comes to the gameplay mechanics of the Black Box-era games.

Liked before watching ;)
It may not have invented everything, but it tried everything a recing game could try, that's why i admire this series so much, if you don't try it you will never know if it works for the NFS Series
"There were 5 heat levels: heat level 1, heat level 2, heat level 3..."
If they don't have names, why list them?
Everyone doesn't know. So let's just appreciate his/her work.
Technically there were at least 7
2017, Need For Speed under ghost games was the best thing it can ever happen to the series and for the fans.
Payback, bringing back what we loved in both Most Wanted '05 and Carbon, more customization options, more cars, and new location.
Don't let us down Ghost Games, you're doing well so far.
I'm looking forward to it!
If I had to make a personal list:
1. Underground 2 - When I was age 5 and my brother was 10 I always watched over his shoulder while he raced and costumized our car. Sometimes I played it, but my brother was older and better at the game.

This is an amazing documentary!
NFS '15 isn't a perfect game, but in the same way Underground wasn't, and that got fixed in Underground 2.
+AdzSONLINE Thanks man!!
I know I'm a little late but... this brought a tear to my eye at the world part with it closing and the end. good job cam. it's definitely a staple of your channel. :)
Thanks man, spent a really long time on this
StraightUpHippo I can tell. it's something I can't help but watch more than once it's just so well put together. how long did it take to make this mind me asking?
Around a year I believe :)
StraightUpHippo damn it shows cam. gg with it anyhow...gg. thinking on ever making a burnout one?
I'm rewatching this again. Can't believe it only has 58k views. It deserves more
wish you had recorded the pc versions of the early games so they dont look quite so dated. especialy with a glide wrapper installed which would have give you a decent resolution to capture. other than that small gripe I loved every minuet of this thanks alot
V-Rally always swept under the rug.
It wasn’t really a Need for Speed. It was just another game with the Need for Speed title slapped onto it.
1 hour and 49 Mins for one of the greatest racing games of all time.
Finally watched it all the way through. Great Job Cam!!
Took a while :D
Awesome video StraightUpHippo, I loved it :)

omg i shed a tear at the end when the see you again came on huhhh well done cam loved it
Glad you enjoyed man! :D
need for speed in my opinion should've focused more on police and exotics that could be fine tuned but not visually altered.
they made hot pursuit, most wanted 2012, they weren't that good as far as long term playing games. but they should've focused on the opposite. tuner cars, just like underground. THAT'S what we wanted.
So, you talked about all these games from an unbiased standpoint, and I applaud you for that, this was very well done!
+Drew Olsen haha thnx man, glad you enjoyed! :)
No problem! Was it hard not to give your thoughts on the games you didn't like? Also, I watched till the very end, I loved this. I'm just curious, what was your first need for speed? Mine was underground 2.
Very much so haha, I'm surprised it turned out the way it did haha XD
My first was HP2, but my fav. is between MW05 and UG2 :P
Nice, I haven't played MW05, should I pick it up?
ohoho you really really should XD
I played NFS 2 once because I stayed over at a friend's house one night and he had a Playstation. I remember that info piece about the GT90. It is still the only time I ever got to play that car in a game, 24 years ago.
Awesome. This was like watching a movie. Great job! :)
EM & MU Enterprises thnx man! Glad you enjoyed ^_^
