Hello, I just found your channel. you did an amazing job on the chisel. And I learned something I have some of those magnets and now I will use them to help hold my projects, Have a good week,
Its always satisfying to give an old tool new life. It will last 60years longer now. And its most likely better steel than the rubbish they sell at bunnings
Awesome work big fella . Most people would have thrown out a rusted old chisel like that . It just goes to show that with a bit of hard work and the right equipment these rusted old tools of yesteryear can be brought back to even better condition than when they were first produced. Now don’t forget to keep it oiled so I doesn’t rust again 😀
Good job restoring the chisel . I hope it stays in that condition. I have about 30 and they all get brought for mortise locks and they all seem to end up cutting nails under track or wall angle . Nice shed big fella. I saved up about 50 k for mine and along came the Plandemic. Then came along the 16 December 2021 and now I’m at home watching UA-cam videos 😂 🇦🇺🏁👍
I`ve been working on an old chisel without a handle. It`s enormously thick and pitted all over .Deep pitting . I had a chance to see how good the steel was. Early tests with sparks showed it was carbon steel and a quick edge showed it would cut well .I must be crazy to spend time on it but this was a piece of history.I got the back flat and it will slice paper easily .It deserves a good handle made of Hornbeam .
Splendid and informative video. You transformed this vintage chisel with history into a new piece of art ready to begin many a new adventure. Question: Did you mean to leave off that felt washer? I'm curious about the advantages of using or not using that felt washer.
I love this channel and Jase's as well. I'm a crossover from your other "something" Australia channel. Will there be more chats there? I miss my weekly dose of "sporting" Australia with you two guys. Cheers and bon chance from the other former colonies(USA)!
