Lovely fabrics. I especially envy the one that buys the white fabric with the BIG black flowers. It will make a beautiful full skirt.
I played a game of will she won’t she whilst you decided to stash or destash 😂. Such fun and lovely to hear your thought process in making your decisions. I hope it is a cathartic process for you!
You are so brave to do this process with your audience. I enjoy watching you go through and explain what you thought you were going to make. Hats off to you! See you in the next video.
Oh Rachel, you're so real! I really love this video and I think you have done an impressive job since you started destashing!
I can really relate on the "I can't believe I'm saying this"😅, it can be difficult to let go on some fabrics. But going back several times to sort things out works for me. Doing this on one shot is very brave, congrats to Ruan!
For the organization of my stash, I have bought storage bins with a clear window from amazon. I have one for plain cotton and linen, another for the patterned one. The 2 others are viscoses and synthetic fibers, also separated in plain and patterns. I have a larger bin for coating/blazer fabrics like wool, soft shell, heavy gabardine and lining. And I keep my jersey on a separated stash
I enjoy watching your process of destashing. I am going to be working on that this week.
LOVE the thought process you've made....."if I saw this fabric made into something at XYZ shop, would I buy it?" BRILLIANT
I actually struggle visualing this... Many times I've bought a fabric I loved (or thought I did) but when I made it into a garment I didn't like it all.
A women after my own heart. Although I do get cross with myself when I put something down, then can’t find it when I need it. Then I have a good tidy up and clean my space, feel much better for doing so. Keep all your videos going I love them and so do many others
Love having a look at your beautiful fabrics!
You have been doing so well with your destash, and it is lovely to think that these fabrics will go to some lucky sewists.
Hi Rachel, yes l enjoyed this segment of your fabric destash. Can't wait for you to put them on site! ❤ Thank You for sharing!
I think you're right about the look of those fabrics against your colouring; that's a great approach to destashing!
I am really enjoying the destash vlogs. Thank you for filming
So fun, thank you! I kept thinking "Oh, that would look fabulous as a Saltwater Slip dress on you"--or "I can see that as a jumpsuit on you!"
Well done Rachel, you're getting there. I loved watching you choose which ones to destash and will be keeping my eye on your destash page.
Very enjoyable to watch, and I am impressed by your destash. I think you made the right choices and it's all about refining our understanding of what works for us and what we want to wear.
I love this type of very REAL talk video! Your fabrics are all beautiful but if you don’t see them getting made up any time soon, then it’s a good idea to let them go to someone else who will cherish them just as much, and maybe you will see their creations in the future. 💖
Rachel, I am so impressed with your determination to do things that you would rather not do. I watched today to see how you destash. I know I have to destash, but didn't know how to start. I was impressed with how you did yours. I am going to try it starting today! Thank you for sparking my ambition.
It has been amazing to watch your destash journey from the start - you have done brilliant so far. I think as soon as you say ‘but’ then it is a definite destash 😊❤
The one at 8.37 the one you destashed, it goes perfectly with the plain fabric coming after. But I think you have others that go with it so you are still good 😊

Well done Rachel. Absolutely the right approach and doing it bit by bit helps. 😊
Love this type of video❤
I love all the stories about the fabrics!
Wow, well done, Rachel, I wouldn't have gotten rid of any of them 😊
Well done Rachel! What a feat! You'll laugh as I only have one fabric in my "stash" at the moment and it's stressing me out as I feel it's one too many 😂
You are doing great Rachel!
I was in awe of the bedroom pictures on Instagram - well done Rachel that must have been a lot of work.
There is nothing wrong with loving some fabrics to keep just for the fabric. And not every fabric we love for the fabric suits us. It a collection just as when people collect china or anything else. Agree with having order to it though. Good Luck with the rest. I think your approach is good. Wish I could hoover some up 😂😂. Happy de stashing 😊. Lynne
Well done Rachel, great way to assess using your Zara strategy. I also try to think of something I would make when I indecisive, if I can envisage a garment/pattern then I buy it. Keep the end goal in mind
Well done Racheal!
Lovely to see your stash. Definitely hard to let go, but you are doing really well.
Hi Rachel! I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. I love your approach to culling, and I know how hard it is to do. Well done!❤
Hi Raechel ,honey in me opinion make piles of very simillar colors and patterns....this way you see 👀 the amount that you have. It's visual and therapeutec
I agree with you, I also order my fabrics by color for visual therapy : it is calming and satisfying. And especially in open shelves it is essential to make it seem organized
I have my eye on some look forward to seeing them on your destash
Keep going, you’ll get there! It’s freeing.❤
Hi Rachel. Whew -- I'm impressed with your diligence! Seeing the pile of fabrics sorted all at once, I was struck by how much of the destash pile came from subscription boxes. Over the years I have become more picky as I honed in on what colors and types of prints or solids and fabric types I like. So if you're like me, it probably gets harder to do a subscription box and be happy with the results. Of course the thrill of getting something unexpected and not what you think of as your style or preference, making it up, and it turning out to be a total winner of a garment that you go for any time you go to the closet might be worth having to destash other items later. Best wishes for continued fabric joy in whatever form it turns out to be, Antonia
Something I've been doing for the last few years, to organize is this. I take pictures of the fabric and pattern(s) of what I would make from them and save it on my computer. I do this with my yarn stash too. This way I can see better the fabric I have at a glance rather than it being squirrelled a way or packed in to cubbies. I try to look at the files/pics on a regular basis to familiarize myself with it all. And it's very satisfying to delete them when I'm done. I wish I lived closer to you as I see some fabrics of yours I would LOVE to have.
Thoroughly enjoyed that, thank you. I have my eye on a couple, let's see if I can catch it at the right time 😂
You asking if you saw something in readymade would you buy it makes sense to me and inspires me to reevaluate my stash.
You have the most beautiful stash! I just want to shop in your fabric closet.
Love your fabrics. I'm in South Africa... Too far to send.... My loss
I think it’s wise to check if you just like it or want to wear it. I’m going to do the same. I’ve got some bits I love but can’t imagine wearing them. 😊
I think if you plan your wardrobe and decide what you need then it is easier to make decisions about what you are likely to use. It also makes your wardrobe more efficient so you can work your stash. So if you are making something and find you need more fabric you may find extra fabric or something similar in your stash.
Hi, thanks for sharing your next de stash, it’s interesting how you are doing this. I tend to buy lovely fabrics and wool and then find the colours don’t suit me, really frustrating . It would be really interesting to sort fabrics into seasons, although I appreciate not necessarily practical but would help when trying to work out next projects ❤
Love seeing your fabrics!! xXX👍👍👍
Love watching a de-stash. I have my eye on one of your fabrics (I purchased one the other day from you). Hopefully I'll be fastest finger first when you list them. I also try to imagine what I will make it into and would I wear it if I saw it in a shop.😊. I'm currently trying to de-stash my wardrobe of bought clothes as I need room for homemade. There are a few I just won't wear anymore generally because I now have a much more critical eye, and some of tops have darts which are in the wrong place 😳, plus some just don't fit anymore.
I LOVE that Lady McElroy hydrangea fabric. I have it in the linen (or maybe it's linen/viscose??). Anyway, I made a Tilly And The Buttons Indigo with it a few summers ago, and it's a favourite. It's seen better days now, it's been washed so many times! Lynne
I was willing you to destash the lady McElroy hydrangea panel print as I love it so much and I think it’s out of print now……
Maybe you should keep a few for "muslins"-try out fabrics. I have some yardages just for that purpose. I do donate fabrics I don't want, as I don't want to go through what one needs to do to ship, and accept payments if I sell them. I admire you for doing this-it's alot of work I know. Good luck with selling you lovely fabrics you no longer want.
🐯
Thank u for this. Helps me to destash
Ohhh, I just bought some of the “bat viscose” from Pound Fabrics (it’s on sale!). Love these destash videos - could get expensive, but what fun!
Glad it's not just me with a messy sewing room😂 , wow you were brutal with some of those but I think right about it could be a lovely fabric but would you wear it? I will try remember that next time I'm shopping 😂, can't wait to see your makes from the ones you're kept
Love seeing this process. It’s so hard to give up beautiful fabrics isn’t it? I could do with getting rid of more but I find it so hard to part ways with mine 😂
A sewing room that looks like mine 😀
Worked in.
💙💙
Excellent. That’s a good job well done. Pretty top that you are wearing. Which pattern did you use please. Looking forward to your next destash.
Didn't you ever hear the saying "She who dies with the most fabric wins"? 🤣 Seriously though I love your videos and really enjoyed watching you go through all your gorgeous fabrics
Love the top you have on while showing us the destash. Did you make it? What pattern? Love all your destashable fabric, wish I was closer. Cost too much to send to US.
Yes it’s a Naya tee!
❤
Great D stash video! I’ve been asking myself the same question regarding fabric… Why did I buy it if I probably would never buy a ready-made garment with this fabric!? 🥴 So painful sometimes but it’s good to have these heart-to-hearts :-)
It makes me chuckle also when I see photos of a sewist showing us her perfectly furnished and tidy sewing room. I always think that person likes the idea of sewing, and has every sewing gadget known to mankind, but doesn't actually sew anything. My sewing room lies somewhere between the two, not perfect and not a total tip.
Ooo new destash vlog. I just checked your destash page, but there was nothing new. Looking forward to seeing what you are getting rid of. Loved Ruan's destash series. Didn't she do well?! 🤩
Nope not listed any of it yet will get around to it over the next couple of weeks x
@@StitchedUp I know, mind I looked before I realised you had uploaded a destash vlog 😂xxx
@@StitchedUp I will keep my eyes peeled 😘
I want a few of those. Glad they are not your colors 😂😂😂 🎉🎉🎉 pppl opinions are like axxholes everybody has one but I don’t wanna see it 😮. Keep loving your life and do what brings you joy.
I am afraid I don’t get this. Why on earth having so many fabrics, continuing buying more and more. And the sell it for lesser price? It is bad economically. It is a lot of work. Like you destashing for the second time??? I really do not comprehend.
Isn’t it better to see up the fabrics you already have, and then see if you can/will buy some more?
You are not alone in this, Rachel. The whole community is the same.
Just a sigh and some thoughts from further up north (Norway 😊)
Keep up the good work.
I cannot believe you are doing this a 2nd time😅👏
But when you say things are not in your colours or shades, what about the rest of the family? They might like an item or two, - which you would gift (now or later)? Leyla might have small dresses, tunics. Scarves etc.
2nd time? I’ve been continually destashing for the last 12 months I just haven’t vlogged about it
🧶🌈🍓💙
xXX👍👍👍
The best orb flies through at 2:20 or slightly before. Orb-tastic
Total buying ban 🤞🏻😁
I can't see how it can ever work because e.g. you de-stash 6 fabrics but purchase 10 new ones so you end up with more every time. If you only keep the ones you really love but then buy more, you will never release any space and eventually will have overflow again or have to de-stash some of the ones you are keeping now. Does that make sense.? x
Yes but im destashing more than im buying so its massively gone down, of course its going to increase if you buy more than you destash
