Phew! It has taken me all day to get the video uploaded but I'm publishing it now and will add Time Stamps so you can easily break it into sections as we work together. And I remind you during the video to take breaks! LOL! What are YOU decluttering today? Anything I decluttered that surprised you?!! LET'S GO! 🙏🏼😁🎉🎉🎉
Quite surprised at how many clothes you have as a minimalist. No judgment. Just kind of surprised 😁 wonderful declutter inspiration!! I’m sure we all have those areas we accumulate more in. I love purses. I’m having trouble letting go of beautiful bags I know I’ll use “someday”! There is something about a great bag, box, or container that appeals to me, but in decluttering my office yesterday, I finally realized I’m not using the containers I’ve kept from last year’s big declutter. Like you, I’m finally going to let them go! Thanks for the always positive, decluttering encouragement!!
@@rebeccam1027 Me too!! She's always dressed to the 9's! Which sometimes I could but got rid of tons when working with Diane back when she was my FL mentor. I like how you keep honoring your moms memory with little snippets about her and her life and the photos of her - it matters because she mattered was loved and is missed❤
@@DianeinDenmarkSending you tons of love from Ireland. That scarf that smells of her that you don’t plan on wearing: put it into a ziplock bag so the scent remains as long as possible. I wish I’d done that with an item of clothing before, but I didn’t. Passing this tip on because as the years pass that smell will get more important xx
It was a very bad idea to watch your 90 minute video while relaxing on my bed around 9:30 PM. At 9:40 pm I was at my bedroom closet. I found six tops and a pair of pants to donate😱😱😱 You really are a wonderful motivator! Love your channel. ❤
Just discovered you today and I'm loving your work! I am also 57 and I also lost my mum in July of this year (she had turned 83 four days before she died). I'm not an ice swimmer but I am a keen ice (and roller) skater. Why not keep doing what you love, regardless of age!
I have a grey very fine wool long cardigan that is such a high quality, that I could not declutter despite not really wearing it, but….. “ there is nothing grey about me” said Diane from Denmark. And with this great words , off it goes from my closet!!!😂😂😂😊😊😊
It is so helpful to hear your thought process, Diane. From laughter to tears, this video took us through the gamut of emotions, and I loved getting to share it with you.
Diane, I'm so sorry about your loss. Your Mom was such a beautiful lady. I hope you know how blessed you are of having a wonderful Mom. By the way, those red gloves are AMAZING! ❤❤❤
Dear Diane! Please, keep whatever you want from your mom stuff (scarfs, ...). My mom passed away 10 years ago and I will keep one of her scarfs for ever. Every time I look at it it makes me smile.💕
I don't wear scarves, so I put my mom's scarves in the dress up box for my granddaughter. She loves them. And I get to see them and enjoy them that way!
Oh my- I am watching this on the 30 th anniversary of my mom’s passing. Like you, I had the privilege of spending days with her in her final weeks of life. So, when you teared up a bit, I was teary eyed as well. I, too, have a few treasured items from my parents and memories to carry me through the sad days without them.
Good job Diane! I love how you honor yourself by continuing to have a good-sized wardrobe because even a cozy minimalist doesn't get rid of things you love, need, and use. I have fewer clothes but that is only because i don't care about clothes. I love that you honor me having a lot more of what i use, love, and need. I love hearing your thoughts about things. Please don't let anyone's critiques get to you. We love you and those of us who have watched for a long time understand your long-time love of fashion. ❤❤❤
Dear Diane: I think in this video, we are seeing you build a bridge from what was to what is coming. You are honoring precious memories and making sure the keepsakes are in a place where you see them often while still beginning preparation for the excitement of the changes ahead. I've done that myself. You don't want to feel you are creating a new life without putting your memories and feelings of loved ones in a special place for safekeeping. You have to keep working on the the grieving process as life demands that you move forward. I'm sure you are helping others with the example you're setting. Thank you for sharing your feelings as you still take care of the practical things of life.
Oh, Diane! Bless you. I love your sweet memories of your parents. Such a beautiful heritage. I really appreciate this longer declutter vlog. I know it’s not your normal thing to do. However, I am smack dab in the middle of a life changing declutter! This vlog truly helped me. Take care & God bless. ♥️
Diane, I loved that you shared your beautiful wedding photo with us. What a wonderful couple you are! Thanks for the motivation with this video. Thankyou for sharing about your loss of your dear mum. May you be filled with happiness when you look back on each precious memory you shared together.
Diane this was so helpful. Historically I have been in the camp that if it fits, I keep it. Hearing you talk about “is it chic, crisp” …. makes me realize something fitting doesn’t mean I should keep it. I’m going work on my own style definition and then will get started on my own wardrobe clean out.
Diane I do not usually even look at this long of a video but I took the breaks you gave us and it worked well. What you did today is what I call Swedish death cleaning. Do not want to leave my stuff and clutter to my children to sift through after I die. Of course there will be some but not so much as to burden them. As you got weepy over your very special items from your mother, I got weepy over my mother too and she died in 1998. I looked around at what I kept from my dear mother and I still love them and of course I still love her. Bless you Diane and your love for your dear mother. May your memories comfort you.
I absolutely loved this video Diane. Our styles are very different but I found it so helpful hearing how you make decisions on each item. My heart really went out to you as you remembered your Mum 🫶. Looking forward to seeing you again soon xxx
My heart broke with yours as you went through items of your mother’s. I loved that you showed it is alright to hold on to some of the special items but not on all things. It can be very hard and as time passes you may decide to let more go, but if not, it is okay. Great job on your decluttering. You are such a great example of how to go through the process!
PHEW! I did it! I decluttered my entire closet and dresser, and pulled out three large bags for our next swap (inspired by you, Diane!) and managed to also put aside a bag full of donations. It feels so great to be free of what was never used but took up space. Thank you for the ongoing inspiration, and a hug to you as you continue to think of your sweet Mum.
Thank you, Diane! I both worked out and decluttered with you. I prefer the working out, because I don't miss anything you show or say. If I'm decluttering, I get off track with your video, all these things are emotional for me. I decluttered in 2020 before moving to a smaller home, but decluttered 5 items, went through some of my husband's items to give to the kids, and went through my mom's jewelry again. 🎉 It's hard getting rid of her jewelry, very emotional for me, so I'm gifting to the girls or doing this gradually. I so appreciate your time and this sweet video. ❤
You are definitely cool, bright and chic. Good choice of words. It's ok to be emotional for your mum. I lost my mum too. It will happen from time to time. Embrace the feeling. It is a sign that you loved her so much. Lots of love xxxx
Dianne, you’ve touched my heart!❤️. After my Dad’s death I brought the shoes he wore to the hospital home with me. At low moments I held them for several months. Then one day it was time to let go. Please be gentle with yourself. You have had a big loss! 🥰
I’ve had the same shift in my mindset about all my belongings since we emptied my parents’ home of 69 years. It was after my dad died and mom moved to a senior living apartment 5 years ago. I feel so light and I won’t be leaving a daunting task for my own children someday. You were impressive today! I’m inspired to revisit my things again.
This has brought so many mom memories for me. Mom passed last year at age 90. She saved everything in her large home. We’ve only managed to go through her clothing and jewelry. She saved so many greeting cards, all organized by date. We reread each one before discarding. Going through photos will be a daunting challenge. So many memories. Thanks for taking us on your journey. ❤
I loved this video so much! Thank you for letting us see you go through the process of decluttering your closet. Your questions and considerations were so helpful. I'm still working through my clothes, shoes, and accessories, and making great progress! Also...it touches my heart when I see you get teary when you think of your dear Mum. I'm glad you're keeping a few of her things that mean the most to you. Those red gloves! Sending you hugs...
Wow Diane….I so love hearing your thought processes, reasons…probations and decision making…….”right this can go to the swap party!” 🔥🔥🔥🔥You are generously sharing parts of your life …and thoughtful nature and we are so very lucky to have you!
That was a very thorough declutter and I watched it in four sections. I shed a few tears with you. I remember my mum loved scarves as a young woman but don’t remember her actually wearing any. She did have a huge amount of clutter and my sisters sorted most of it. I kept a lot of her beads that she bought for crafting but then I’ve given a lot of that away since. You’ve inspired me to go back through the clothes that I don’t really wear and send some off to the thrift shop. I’m starting to sort out some of my own art and jewellery supplies. I’ve sold quite a lot of tools recently which has helped. I have a lot of rings so I am wearing them again on rotation. I’m going to make myself some more earrings this week. I realised I don’t like floppy either although I do like relaxed and cosy. I wear jeans every day. I have been and decluttered two tops that were floppy and too dark. One of them had the most annoying sleeves. I decluttered another that was just the wrong shade of turquoise for me and I’d been intending to add a stitch to the top button which always came undone. Going through my clothes I’ve packed my short sleeve tops away and sorted my jumpers, reminding myself that I have some.one lovely snuggly long winter jumpers. Thank you as always Dianne and enjoy your days away x
Oh Diane, I've been watching the video in sections and just got to the part where you speak about your mum's scarves and top. It made me teary and but also made me appreciate how wonderful it is to hear you speak about your lovely mum. You are so very kind and brave x
Thanks for your company Diane & for taking us along on this mega decluttering session and also for sharing your thoughts process & the pictures & stories around some of the items, have a good break away & see you in the next one 🤗
Wow. I am recuperating in bed from a heart operation and just cheered you on for full 95 minutes!!! Tomorrow I will go back into my closet and bring you with me and slowly declutter. Also feel the need to do this. New beginnings..This is your best ever and I can’t wait to watch it again. Thanks
I enjoyed the longer video! Watched it over a few days. I liked hearing your thought process as you decide what to declutter. And you look beautiful in the yellow dress! Keep the few items of your mum’s. You may or may not decide you are ready to part with them later. Big hugs to you. 💐
Your wardrobe marathon declutter was so timely and helpful for me, as I move into this season in my life - retirement and simplifying, I don't want to leave a lot for my children to have to go through. Thank you! Also, there are many choices on line to search for glittery navy blue trousers, hope you find a pair to replace your skirt. As always, you are an inspiration and so real.
Hi Diane… 🙏❤️.. I wept with you on this one.. it is so hard to lose your mom.. I lost mine 13 years ago.. I just loved how you kept a few of your mom’s favorites.. and I also admire you for really pairing down your clothing items… it has been truly inspiring, just love watching your videos!.. be well..👍🥰❤️
I watched the whole thing and wow 🤯 that was a lot of items you let go of. I am definitely a work in progress but today was so good for me because I saw you giving away things that were kind of hard to let go. My mom passed away 10 years ago, long before my decluttering journey. I think I kept a lot of items out of guilt. Maybe it’s time to readdress her/my keepsake items. If you can let go this soon, then I certainly can let go now. I’m proud of you! 🦋
A very inspirational declutter, Diane! Thank you! I am so sorry for the loss of your mother, I couldn’t even write here on your comment page after she passed, as I was so affected. I have had several losses of loved ones this summer, and simply felt overloaded and almost numb. But watching you as you honor your mom and work through the grieving process, I somehow feel a bit stronger, like it’s still possible to keep moving forward. Thank you for being the person that you are, and helping so many others in so many ways.
Diane, I’m going through the same emotions, lost my mother in July, and it’s so hard, one minute your dealing with it the next tears, so sending you a big hug, we’ll get there xx your vlogs are so lovely, as you are too xx
Thank you so much Diane, for being so honest and vulnerable with us ❤ My partner and I are in the same boat, looking towards paring down and downsizing. Our complication is that we were both previously in long term relationships so have TWO previous lives to declutter! He has more clothes, I have more kitchen things, he has more CDs, I have more books. We're working through it, and appreciate your prompts
I'm working on adopting this mentality, but I tend to be the opposite and hang onto things unless they're a definite no. One decluttered item at a time.
Thank you Diane - I have been going round in circles lately and this video was exactly what I needed to inspire and motivate me. A special thank you for sharing your wonderful family photos as well xx
Thank you, Diane, you are fantastic, positive and very motivated. Have had a few weeks down, but you put light in my live, and remember me to also think of my self and not just my family. 🎉
I can keep with the zone 4 week we are in by working on my bedroom closet. I esp enjoy hearing your analysis as you hold up the items. Thank for giving us so much of your time and views into your life, Diane 💙
Diane you did a fantastic job decluttering. You're teaching all of us to get real with our stuff! I'm still surprised at how much more I can get rid. Have a great trip!!!
Thanks for keeping me company in the kitchen as I deep cleaned the fridge, cleaned more of the kitchen, and made Strawberry Basil sauce! I appreciate you so much, and love hearing about your dear Mum. Thinking of you, and your family.
What a wonderful photo of your parents! My mom kept items, saying they were too pretty or expensive to use. My dad, on the other hand, wore everything and wore them out.
I really enjoyed that! The contrast was very obvious between your immediate unhesitating YES items and the uncertainty of the maybe and no items. So helpful! ❤❤
Video was very motivating to do a good clean out of my closet. I watched the entire video in two large intervals. I watch the first part while I cooked our evening meal. Then I watched the second part while I washed dishes and cleaned up the kitchen!
Thank you so much for the video and for your encouragement. I appreciate you honoring your mum and also being an inspiration to all of us. I've watched this once and worked on things. Will probably be played again!
Ah Diane, what an emotional video. It’s lovely to see the way you talk about your mam. I’ve enjoyed watching your thought process and how you organise your wardrobe. I like to watch your videos - can’t multitask anymore but it does then motivate me to get up and do something. Cosy minimalism is my goal. Sending a hug 🤗 xx
I always adored your blouse with the hearts. Through your videos and through liking this fun, cute blouse, I realized eventuell that I am also a Type 1. A Type 1/ 4 in fact - as you are.
This is so inspiring, thank you Diane! I am a T4/1 and just decluttered my summer wardrobe. I appreciate your perspective on things can change as you learn more what works for you in different seasons of life. :)
Have been loving this 90 min video and wish that all of your videos were this long. You have been so strong showing us special items of your Mum's and I hope that it is of some comfort to you to do so.
I understand holding on to special things from our loved ones. I still have my dads flannel shirt. You did great decluttering. You got rid of more clothes than I have. Haha
Fantastic video!! Here in NH USA we also have 4 seasons so will be taking a deep dive decluttering to my fall/winter wardrobe. And spring/summer as well before packing away. Thanks for the motivation! My mom passed 36 yrs ago and tears still drop now and then when looking through old photos or treasured trinkets. The way you share and honor your mum's memory is beautiful, my heart goes out to you.
I have a subscriber to your channel for years and I just love this video! Thank you so much for walking through this with us and sharing your thought process. It helps bring clarity to decluttering. I had been having a hard time with my outfits until you mentioned having 3 words to guide you. It inspired me to come up with my 3 words: Breezy Blue Boho!
I also do not own skirts! I like how you’ve really clarified what styles or cuts work best for you and your tastes and you stick with what makes you happy.
Dear Diane, thank you so much for being sincere and vulnerable alongside with being decisive and determined. You sre a great help and inspiration for so many. Love your mother's headscarves. I still own one of my late great-grandmothee. Brings back bittersweet memories of this sweet lady I was blessed to know and live. Take cake! ❤
Thank you Diane, you are so inspiring and helpful! I decluttered with you and had 4 full bags which I donated in the afternoon ( before I could change my mind 😂) to a charity shop. Sending you best wishes always 🌻🫶
👏👏👏 Fabulous declutter! 🤯 I had a million little chatty comments in my head but they popped like so many little bubbles...🥂 Your style is getting so defined! I always think "Fresh" when I see your outfits. Mine's in a changeover - hair colour changed (naturally) and all my old colours look horrendous. Have a fun little vacay! ☀️
A little idea, for all your Mom’s or miscellaneous special memory items. You could do a sentimental box for that kind of stuff. It’s amazing how you are remembering your Mom. Loved your video as usual. ❤
Stuff and decluttering is surely relative. I have about 5% of what you have and still looking give away what I don't need or want or use. I live in a coastal town and so everyone is quite casual and dressy could be still something casual. So that reduces a lot of my wardrobe. I think what you said about having a few descriptive words about one's wardrobe and then see if the item fits into one of them is a great idea. I listened carefully about why you chose to keep or pass along ...quite a few I had not thought of. Your swaps with friends seems wonderful as you all swap really good quality things. You did great considering you said it is now on one floor in one room. Thanks for sharing ...great motivation!💕🇺🇸🌻
It’s taken me a few days to watch your video and declutter along with you. I started in my bathroom and worked my way through parts of the house but by bit. I realised that I want to make some life adjustments and live life with more intention. From what I wear to what I eat. Decluttered my mind as well as parts of the house. Thank you!
Diane this was so great to watch! I loved the photos you included of your dear Mum and your wedding, beautiful. Thanks for bringing us along and providing great motivation as always!
I especially like your thought that certain clothing were past favorites, but since that time you have discovered new favorites. That is a great way to choose which items might be better for someone else to enjoy. I have tended to mentally place new favorites into one general “favorites” category. Your comment was enlightening. I need to go through the items in my closet with a different mind-set. Thank you for your inspiration.
I’ve been watching over a few days and I’m nearly finished😁. I’ve really enjoyed it and have been looking at my scarves thanks for the motivation. My mum died in 2013 I wear her eternity ring every day and I think about her every time I wear it 💗. It’s lovely to keep some things that meant a lot to them.
I kept a few little items and some of my mother’s jewelry. After spending months clearing her attic and the house, I cleared out a great deal of stuff from my home.
Loved this video. Listening to your thought process as you decided whether to keep or let go an item was very helpful. You have inspired me to let go of quite a few things! Thank you!

Aww, you are so welcome!
We love your mum too. I'm glad you are thinking of mum and keeping her alive in your every thought and move.
Yay I’ve been waiting all day to watch this! Impatiently clicking back in to UA-cam.
I’m excited. Thanks for all you do Diane! ❤
Now to watch…
Yay, come back and let me know what you find to declutter!
Thank you Diane. You are such an inspiration 🎉
Aww, thank you, Linda!
Thanks
I hope you feel better after such a major operation❤❤
Get well soon!
Diane! The wedding dress cliff hanger is too much! I’m invested!😂🤗💖
The one skirt you own is definitely bright, chic, and cool!😊
I enjoyed the longer video! Watched it over a few days. I liked hearing your thought process as you decide what to declutter. And you look beautiful in the yellow dress! Keep the few items of your mum’s. You may or may not decide you are ready to part with them later. Big hugs to you. 💐
That navy blazer really made your eyes pop. It is a great color on you
Your wardrobe marathon declutter was so timely and helpful for me, as I move into this season in my life - retirement and simplifying, I don't want to leave a lot for my children to have to go through.
So beautiful to have reminders of your Mum … so special, not easy when we lose a parent 😢❤
Aww I felt like giving you a big hug when you got to your mum's special scarf and hankie..... I am sure many of your viewers felt the same....💌
A very inspirational declutter, Diane!
Well done Diane... Looked exhausting but worth it and you were obviously in the right mindset to do it.
Diane, I’m going through the same emotions, lost my mother in July, and it’s so hard, one minute your dealing with it the next tears, so sending you a big hug, we’ll get there xx your vlogs are so lovely, as you are too xx
Bless you, going through your mum’s things with us 💕💕💕
Thank you so much Diane, for being so honest and vulnerable with us ❤ My partner and I are in the same boat, looking towards paring down and downsizing. Our complication is that we were both previously in long term relationships so have TWO previous lives to declutter! He has more clothes, I have more kitchen things, he has more CDs, I have more books. We're working through it, and appreciate your prompts
My vote is if it’s not 100% yes then it’s no. A great way to only keep your favourites☺️
I was not expecting "Kind of reminds me of my punk days" you're so fun, Diane!! Keeping me on my toes.
I can keep with the zone 4 week we are in by working on my bedroom closet. I esp enjoy hearing your analysis as you hold up the items. Thank for giving us so much of your time and views into your life, Diane 💙
Love it. Swap parties sound so fun. I thought you were gonna say we swap kids!!!😂😂😂 but you said kid’s books:))!!!
I thought the very same! lol
So helpful! ❤❤
"Floppy is not one of my style words."
I love that!
When I look at clothes, I remind myself of my words, "soft and subtle."
Love watching your thought process when you declutter. Safe travels!
Thank you so much, May Francis!
It took me a week to watch all this. But that's not Diane's fault. Been a rough week in the Southern US. It's always a blessing to see Diane. ❤❤
Take cake! ❤
Thank you so much, GreyEyedBeauty!
The cool icy blue bead necklace is Stunning and versatile; summer and winter.
The navy jacket that you said was occasion wear, with the buttons at the wrist is absolutely gorgeous on you.
It’s taken me a few days to watch your video and declutter along with you. I started in my bathroom and worked my way through parts of the house but by bit. I realised that I want to make some life adjustments and live life with more intention. From what I wear to what I eat. Decluttered my mind as well as parts of the house. Thank you!
Thanks for the inspiration! I’ve decluttered a few clothing items myself. Hugs and comfort for when you miss your dear mum. ❤️🤗❤️
Amazing work, so proud of you! You have certainly got your mindset in the right place to clear so much when your wardrobe is already so well curated ❤
It is helpful to hear you speak through your thought process. I also love hearing you say “wee heel.” You always make me smile. ❤
Diane, the 90 min. declutter today was great! Great Inspiration!
I kept a few little items and some of my mother’s jewelry. After spending months clearing her attic and the house, I cleared out a great deal of stuff from my home.
Wow, Diane, you must need a nap now! Thank you for your inspiration. Enjoy your time away.
I loved the long video, so much fun. Your emotions over Mum was so relatable as I lost my Mum too not long ago. Great declutter.
Yay! Thank you so much for sharing this with us all.
You are welcome, Raych!
Love this long video style! Enjoying another 15 minutes while sipping my coffee this afternoon.
Loved this video. Listening to your thought process as you decided whether to keep or let go an item was very helpful. You have inspired me to let go of quite a few things! Thank you!
