I own the 223's my main complaint about them was that they needed just a bit more bounce. It's going to be hard justifying moving to the 243's now that I've upgraded to some BB&F Ferrules on them, but I just might need to for better turf interaction.
Was interested in the 245s as I was looking for more distance. My current irons are Miura CB302s (32 deg 7i). The 245's are long - but they are also lofted at 30 ) - my carry numbers went up by about 10 yards (from 163 to 174.2), but the problem is roll out of about 15 yards - so I may be longer - but I probably wont end up nearer the pin. His second shot here carried 185, total 198 - 13y of roll out. Essentially, I was hitting almost a 6i with a 7 stamped at the bottom - w/ a 70 length shaft. Height is around 8 - 10 feet lower with the 245 vs my gamer. Descent angle is also quite steep. Spin is lower as well (5,600 gamer vs 4,800 245) My swing speed for the 7i is around 82mph. Nice to hit - but Miuras felt much better. Hope these numbers help. I saw this YT review of the 245 and the guy was flushing the 245's with 6,000 spin, 91mph swing speed - but the roll out was still around 15-20 yards (?) which is confusing. He was using a Trackman so that should be accurate.
A 43 degree PW!?! Crazy… We’ll have to talk about a set of 241’s with a 4/5 in the 243. It looks like Mizuno offers at No Charge, ??, the Dynamic high launch. Might be worth a try in a standard 6 iron. I can adjust from her. Great review!!
I got a blended set between 241(pw-8) and 243 (7-5) biggest notice is the gab between 8/7 the distance gap is 20 yards on stock 8 (155 and 7 (175) im thinking of delofting the 8-pw since they do go a little too high for my liking as well. Thoughts on anything else i should consider?
Based on Mizzy's website this morning, they've increased their club lengths by .25". Do you account for this in your builds/fits? I've always been 1/2" long in fits, am I now 1/4" long? Guessing swing weight comes into play as well? Great content as always!
I think the 243 might be one i test first, when i get to my sons sim. He has the whole cart full to test. My old Adams Ideatechs are real hot but real ugly! Lol
Great review! What shafts did you test? I am currently playing the JPX921 Tour with the KBS stiff and am considering the 241, 243 or a combo of both. My 7 iron averages 169 carry, club speed 89 and 6352 spin on Trackman. Would you recommend moving up to x-stiff?
Unfortunately a few bad shots with the 245 messed up the averages. One only had a balls peed of 111, another launched at just 13*, and a third looked like a push slice. I think that is the reason the numbers look bad for it, the peak height should be 33-34y, ball speed 125mph, spin around 5000, descent angle around 45*, and distances 189y carry and 201y total. IMO you should take a few more swings with each one and only compare like-for-like shots where club speed, path, angle, and strike location are the same between clubs. If you can control for those, the result will be all club differences.
Just did some content with Mr Shortgame and he was hitting the 243 as a stand-in for Titleist T150, that I don't carry. He really liked them. Similar numbers but yes, with that Mizuno feel.
Folk talking about loft have me so confused. Some say these new irons are stronger lofted when others say these are weaker lofter while talking about the same irons 😤 So im trying to custom blend a set of irons and want to make the lofts weaker.. ie i want to make a 27 degree 7 iron into a 29. Is that -2 on the options or +2?
The white paint fill in the number is the worst idea I've ever seen. I own the 223's am looking at the 243 or 245 in order to bring my spin down, however first thing I'd do is re-fill the number with black.
7i 190? I hit my 23 hybrid 200. Whatever….Why would I want a PW to go 150? When Donald was #1 IN THE WORLD he hit his 47* PW…..drum roll please - 120yds. Yes, I heard he’s playing 243’s. Now an exact loft match to Srixon? Good grief. I’m not a golfer; I play one on TV.
I am all about that thinner top line on the 243 along with the compact shape…
I got the 243s. They performed as well as the 245 with better spin and felt way more solid.
You forgot to mention the increased tungsten in the 245 verses the 225
Noticed that when I went for a fitting.

243 Nice!
Good video. The club speed data should be included to provide context.

Great review!!
Would love to see the comparison bent to the same loft. I bet the 245 would launch higher and spin more at the same spec.
Great review...Thanks
7 iron loft is 30 degrees for the 245 not 31 (according to Mizuno’s website).
Oops. You're right!
Surprised you hit the 245 and 243 the same carry distance despite the 2 degrees of loft difference and less spin on 245
245 brilliant for a fade 175 carry 20 degrees launch angle at 80 mph club head speed 7 iron
When is the
Release Date in the uk
The 223, 243 look like my MP25's ( I know they're semi-ancient but I love them). Now I didn't really want to spend another $1500 or so again.
When the camera is following the ball flight it's too high so we can't see the ball land.
Great review. Have you heard if they are going to do a JPX Pro in the 24 series?
JPX release will be in the Fall, Pro line is separate from JPX.
So I get this right, the 243 and 245 hit the same yardages even though lofts are weaker in the 243?
I hit the 243 better every time. So that is playing a part in this. Love the 243!

I'd do that and probably bend the 7 a degree or so weak.
I would like to have a iron shaft fitting with my current taylormade psi forged heads what do you recommend
Email me with what you're thinking about.

They look similar to my mp5’s

I won't use their length numbers by themselves so your 1/2 over would still be 1/2 over if you went through me for a fitting or build.

I had Project X 6.0 which is what's in my current irons. For me weight is most important so this shaft at 120g is what I wanted.
@@EFGMCWhat do you think of PX LS? I have it in my 243 set and the combination is magical.
@@lkae4 I tested them for myself and never got the results I wanted but that's why we have options.

Any idea how the 243 would compare to the t100/150? Also still have that seeet mizuno feel in the 243?

Where are you trying to order from? I can put in an order for you if you need certain specs.
That’s -2

Will be filled with brown mud soon anyway, so I wouldnt worry too much

Luke Donald is playing 245's this year, not 243's
Wow, even for guys with 10, 12, 14 handicaps? 😂 He says that like that’s not better than the average golfer.
