I’ve been wanting to fly this tour for a while from Toronto. Same procedure from Canada in our flight supplement. This is really helpful to see it in action.

The falls makes its own weather very often. Some days it makes a hole in the clouds, some days it makes the cloud. Nice job Jon and Steph, great to see you as well!

We did the flyover with a 360 turn this summer, on our way home from Oshkosh Airventure. We started our flight from St. Catherines, Ont, Canada though. After cruising around the falls at 3,500 we made the 3 min flight over to Niagara Falls Intl. for our US Customs check. Customs met us at Calspan Air Services. Calspan was top notch. Very friendly and accommodating staff made our quick turn a breeze. Super easy flight! I recommend all GA pilots put that one on their list. Great vid Jon.

Not quite the trip I was hoping for but it was my first solo into a Bravo and stopped at the FBO. Quite a memorable trip for me though and a great confidence boost!
Great video. That is funny that you are in my neck of the woods and I’m in yours. On a normal day there are a ton of sightseeing helicopters in the air too. But the view never gets old. Keep it level happy flying

Nice commentary. I thought I saw your breath a few times. Cabin heat keeping up?
Nit-pick alert: The operating limitations of an experimental aircraft almost always contain something like: "May not fly over densely populated areas unless for the purpose of takeoff or landing". While I don't believe the regs specify what constitutes "Densely populated" it is generally taken to mean anything depicted in yellow on the sectional. Wouldn't this preclude an experimental aircraft from flying in that airspace? Clearly you have to fly over very densely populated areas to get to the falls and to fly the racetrack.
Nice video. One area that I would like to clarify is that according to CYR518, the scenic pattern only has two recommended entry points. For planes approaching from the South (as in your video) you should be south of Navy island (whcih is a VFR checkpoint) and on a heading of 281. This will place you over the Welland River to enter the Southwest turn of the loop, not entering by Goat island. Traffic from the North would enter the Northeast portion of the loop by Rainbow bridge on a heading of 101. Obviously, they made only two entry points, so that traffic established in the pattern will have a bettter awareness of where to be looking for entering traffic. But even the most experienced pilots can make a mistake, so it emphasis the point to always vigilant in looking out for the unexpected.
This is true. I am from Ontario, and i have flown the falls cyr518 route many times. I also noticed the same thing as you, how he entered the pattern pretty much anywhere. And then I noticed that the American chart that he's using differs from the chart that's in the CFS for Canada. It looks like the American chart doesn't show the entry points.

it is even nicer at night; almost like the Las Vegas of Canada when seen from the air at night. all these rules and restrictions came into effect unfortunately after a collision between a US helicopter and a Canadian plane back in the early 1990s. you have no heat in that plane? looks like you folks were really cold, I could see your respiration.

You had radio contact with ATC (they replied with your full tail number), that would mean you can enter the Class C without specifically asking. Correct?
What does the specific Term "Proceed On Course" mean ? We dont use that Term in Europe. I only heared that i was flying in America.

@Outlaw Chop-shop - The "tours" ARE down lower. Listen to it again; you'll hear the helicopter tour announce his planned altitude at 25 hundred, I believe he said.
