- In 1281, Japan seemed poised to fall, outnumbered by the mighty fleet of Kublai Khan. Then, according to legend, the Japanese Emperor prayed for salvation--and got it in the form of a devastating typhoon.

Fun fact: The term "shogun" is generally translated to mean "barbarian-quelling generalissimo." A "generalissimo" is an Italian term basically meaning the highest ranking of all generals. What actually matters here, though, is the "barbarian-quelling" part, which was in reference to invaders like the Mongols.
Fun fact 2: The Japanese term for "divine wind" is "kamikaze." "Kami" is the word for "god," "deity," "divinity," or "spirit," and "kami" was generally what nature spirits were called. "Kaze" means "wind." So, to the Japanese of the time, the kamikaze was a literal wind spirit or god. The term was around long before suicide fighter pilots co-opted it.
@Jeronimo Stupenengo Pefaur Studied at university.
@Jeronimo Stupenengo Pefaur it's widespread knowledge and you do realize that Google has many academic sources right?
@@ascetic3312 the Kami are still worshipped you do know that right? Also the main wind Kami is Fujin
Did they just film two random hawaiian guys sword fighting in a backyard wearing the same outfit and pass it off as a Mongol vs Samurai!?!
Wait that was fake? I thought they went back in time to record that 🤯🤯 I’m mind blown
hahahahah
Calmgoodfire it’s meant to be a visual representation of the subject matter but was very lazily done. That or their budget was $65.
Lucky for Japan ! The ruthless Mongols attacked and captured Nishapur city in northern Iran in 1221 and slaughtered the entire population. According to the estimates Mongols killed 5 to 10% of world's population in that era. Syria was so utterly depopulated after Mongol genocide that country's population did not recover until the 18th century nearly 500 years after the Mongol massacres.
Otherwise Japan would’ve speaking Mongolic.
@Hdye Hdhde You mean Chinese too ?
The USA? That’s a funny joke it’s more likely to be China or Russia who actually still in the modern year invaded small countries
Yeah, Because the Khan offered gift to iran but instead of just accepting it they decapitated the poor guy the Khan sent.

If u were aware of Geo politics after 1950 u wud be aware that invaders wud be:
1. USA 2. India 3. Israel 4. Saudi Arabia
This 4 are responsible for most war deaths in last 50 years.
The real questions that people want answered...
Jokes aside I hope there's a whole documentary dedicated to this "incident"
Divine Intervention definitely sunk those ships.
Bahah :)
No way, somebody farted and they all jumped out, drowned
@@francisfacciolo2476 I see no reason why an act of Divine Intervention can't include that.
You do realize, don't you, that the gods in question are Japanese gods. The Japanese emperor did not pray to the god of the bible.
@@anne-droid7739 you do realise, do you that not everyone are christians
How come you guys only make 3 minute videos?
Yes very significant but the Mongol incursions of Southeast Asia in places like Vietnam and Java comprised huge fleets too. The Red River in northern Vietnam is like spider webs. The Mongol Yuan also used naval warships to invade Burma by sailing on the Iraawddi river to Taubaugn.
These days Smithsonian is concluding the stories, a departure from earlier version of explaining the content incompletely🖐️🖐️
A storm is coming!!
Chinggis Khaan Statue.. good luck with that
I wonder if kamikaze or divine wind will be in Ghost of Tsushima?
Tenno Heika Banzai!
What doesn't make sense is where did this fleet launch from?
the real kamikaze swept Khan
The Spanish armada too?
This happened here in England, possibly in 1400s (sorry if I'm wrong) when England left Vatican Roman Catholicism for Anglicanism or Atheism as Catholics considered. Spain sent Warships to punish England & English army was outnumbered, almost conceding defeat. There's a mysterious, spiritual person or parson in England, who either was part of Royal family or was working for them. He knew how to manipulate weather as well. He did it & same happened, Spain lost just before conquering. Some believe he was helped by aliens or may be he'd some unearthly knowledge etc. Whatever, without this miracle happened, we might not see industrial revolution & more... We’d still live in dark age… Sadly, no one was there in Japan to help in 1945 during Hiroshima-Nagasaki... possibly they lost their spiritual power...
(Great Britain, Sun 05 July 2020 1510)
But... The enlightenment began in Italy, not England... and Protestantism began in Germany, not England... How does this incident indicate that we'd never leave the Dark Ages? Maybe ENGLAND would have been set back a bit, but mainland Europe would probably be alright... Anyway, I'm just being argumentative 😂
How one storm is responsible for creation of anime
i remember reading about this in high school
Many people are fascinated by the Mongols invasion and power. Does anyone know how they were eventually defeated and kicked out of the palace? Read Zhu Yuanzhang. He was a peasant who rebelled and eventually destroyed the Mongolian empire once and for all. Zhu was also the founder of the Ming Dynasty.
Ghost of tshushima boyiiiiii
Reminds me of the storm that failed the American mission in Iran back in the day.. ppl started saying: "Khomini prayed and a storm took down the US helicopters !"
That was a hostage rescue situation. Not a scaled invasion. If god does exist, he chose the wrong side on that one.
No!
They mixing up two different campaigns as one.
That was a waste of 3 miniutes.
There is Power 🔥🔥🔥In Pray 🙏🏽And in “The Power Of Dreams And Visions “ Available Now
This stuff only works for great emperors
Yes, it was divine intervention and the winds destroyed Kublai Khan’s invading navy twice; the word Kamikaze comes from the high winds located on the Korea Strait. However, the Japanese Army was much larger than the invading army; forty thousand troops and a thousand invading ships. When the Mongols landed on Hakata Bay they feared a counter attack at night, so, they withdrew to the safety of their ships and that night a large storm moved in to the Korea Strait and destroyed Khan’s navy. The lessons learned from those battles helped the Allied commanders when planning for the Normandy beach landings, if I remember correctly. Jesus, I love books!
It wasn't divine intervention from the Christian God and jesus has nothing to do with it
Google the Kami who are worshipped in Japan

Jesus is a Japanese samurai, i knew it.
This divine intervention didn't have anything to do with Jesus

why are koreans so petty?
Hmm... Smithsonian and like organizations will publish the possibility of false gods but they won't publish historical facts about the true God and Jesus Christ the Son of God. Jesus is the way to Heaven.
That's because Jesus is a false god. Whatever gods the Japanese emperor prayed to were obviously the true gods.
