- In the 19th century, there was a watermill almost every mile of the river, such was the huge demand for flour and bread. Today, Eastnor castle’s own mill is still operational - an important piece of local history.

I love to see this kined of historic tech put back into use.
Man medieval redstone engineers are something else
I was half expecting Mrs crocombe to appear out of nowhere and give that woman a scolding for being such a drama queen
Beautifully preserved!
"what am I smelling now?" Flour. 🤣
Well... when you open a bag of store bought flour (white, bleached * gasp * , enriched) -- it doesn't smell like much. Now... freshly ground?! Oh lovely. :-) I've got a small electric grain mill at home and like to show people the difference. Their reaction is usually much like hers. ;-)
Truly amazing. I'd love to visit.
Who else wanted to see them actually bake the flower into a loaf of bread!?!?
In the back of his head, he was like "if she f**k this up...." 👏🏾😂
Thank you very much.....Blessings!
I'd love to live like that today. Early ingenuity is so awe inspiring to me.

You can mill that host while you're at it.
I wanted to see how the water made the stones turn.
The gears are engaged when you release the brake to allow the water wheel to turn. So, you are inside the mill when the machinery is set going. All you see outside is a turning wheel.
@@nokomarie1963 - I don't think you understood what I was asking. The few water-powered mills I am familiar with either had the wheel set into a "race', where the water pushed the wheel from underneath, or the water flows from above over the wheel, turning it. The external overhead view of this mill showed a still pond. I didn't see a race. What is turning the wheel, and how?
Lol u wish
Love it! Julie is such a cutie pie !
She gave me a good chuckle... I am officially not the most uncoordinated person in the world lol
Excellent information! Thanks .. 😁
Did she just say "Is that it?" Imagine if "that was it" when it took humans thousands of years to build the first water wheels...
The great majority of humans can't invent. It takes time for the right person to make the discovery. And it is the discovery that takes time, regardless of how complex it is.
UK, USA, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND. Stay together....!!! The Earth is safer place with you.
Even from the aerial shots, I can't figure out where the water goes after it turns the wheel... 3:23 ?
Thinking the same thing. I think there is an underground pipping system.
She doesn't know what flour smells like, because she's never had to use flour before in her life.
As I commented elsewhere already, she's probably only used to store bought white flour; bleached and "enriched". When I first started using my grain mill, I was amazed at the lovely smell, too- and the flavor. :-) Oh, and one could mention the health benefits! ;-)
