Great video. Super helpful. However, after watching what I think are all you iPad videos, and then some, I still don’t know how to use the pencil correctly to take notes. Specifically on how to make edits to text. It does not seem to be as easy as it should be. Thank you.
I bought the iPad 12.9 and decided to grab the pencil as well. This was in Oct 2022 😂 I am just now looking up this video to help me use it. I forgot about it until I “found” it again. This video was very helpful.
I just bought my first apple pencil and honestly didn’t know where to start. These tips are so useful! This will change how I work.. Wonderful! Thank you!
Thanks for the great video. I’m excited to pick up my Apple Pencil tomorrow for my new iPad Air. There are so many instances when I’ve needed to sketch out a design idea. I know this going help me right away. I have a really old Wacom tablet that had the mouse and pen stylus. I had so much fun with it
Just subscribed to this channel due to being gifted an M1 iPad Pro 11 inch this past Christmas. I never thought I will buy one or even own one. Been playing around with it and is blown away by its capabilities. I have to admit that I'm impressed with it. Glad that I found this channel and subscribed, because I will be coming to this channel to pick up new tips and master this iPadOS on my new iPad Pro. Thanks for great video.
I just bought my first iPad ever and went for the Pro 12.9, and also just purchased the pencil and was looking for a video like this! Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us! :)
I’m with many commenters on here this has changed the way I use my iPad from a simple watch/read device to a powerful laptop ( but more portable). I now use this rather than my MacBook Pro which has been changed for a MacMini with a M2 Pro. I’m now working through your other videos. You may have seen it but I watched your Apple Pencil video a few weeks after I purchased a Paperlike screen protector - the feel of the pencil on a screen with this cover - its fabulous ( I am just an evangelical customer )
Thanks for the reply and for the tips! I'll get to watching it again ( with my finger hovering over the pause :) to learn all the tips I never known all these years.
I use my apple pencil all day everyday, I write on my iPad mini like a journal. Same with my iPad Air that I use as a laptop. It’s awesome but SO expensive
I was buying used one ipad pro . Like this it makes worse it! Otherwise I am android windows person, would never buy apple. It is so many things that it doesn't have...
Oh my goodness, I had no idea how versatile the pencil is! I got it to use with Procreate (which I need to learn as I’m not great at it) but will definitely re watch this video on my phone so I can actually do the things shown in order to remember them ! I’m not a natural with tech but these tips are genius, thank you for sharing
Thanks a Ton My Friend……. Have been using IPad Pro & Apple Pencil for a few years now………. Learnt so much just watching this Ten Minute video & I missed out so much all these years. 🙏🙏🙏
Great video I am having one problem however while using the Notes app. I will be using the Notes app and need to go back and write something, add something, or edit, etc., and while I am still using the Apple Pencil, the cursor does not move into the new position I attempt to tap. Even if I use my finger or the trackpad on the keyboard, it does not respond until I either hit done and attempt to type again or close the app out. Thanks
Excellent video and thank you for putting this together. What is the app displayed at timeslot 7:40 in the video? I’m trying to find a lined paper app and this one looks ideal. Would love to get the name of that app being used at minute mark 7:40. Thank you!
Abbreviations and customer names are a real problem for me as well. There has to be a way to turn auto correct off without destroying the ease of use. Someone please help.
How do you keep the screen from jumping around (zooming, moving) when you rest your writing hand on the screen. I have the recognize palm setting but it still does it, particularly in Notability.
Great tip for screenshooting full pages to fill out. I’m having a issue doing it though my pencil seems to want to scroll the page down each time I want to fill out a new box? Is this because it’s a cheap alternative to the Apple Pencil. It’s the Eip pro pencil and has been really good for everything else 😅
1:38 Is there any way to change the default colours on the default annotation highlighter or pen tools. The colour yellow is not at all appealing. I need a neon yellow to be default.
I'm not him and im not sure what brands are available in your area but i recommend a tempered glass, and just get a magnetic paperlike so u can just put it on when you're going to write because I find that the original paperlike screen protector really changes the ipad viewing experience in a way i dont like 😅
Thank you for the great video. It appears the double tap option is not a function for the Original first generation Apple Pencil. Also, what folio do you have for your iPad and does it come with a keyboard? I ask because I am looking for a good folio that will last. As well I did have another questions can you do a video on how the best way to hold an iPad when writing, drawing…etc?
Ah yes: double tap only available on 2nd gen pencil. The cover I now have is from Pitika - but isn’t a keyboard: I’d checkout the Logitech option possibly.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your explanations for every aspect with regards to the apple pencil. You speak quickly and efficiently which for me (& others most likely), time is valuable and we all just want to watch the video and get to it. No messing around! I subscribed on 1st video i watched of yours. Kudos!👏👏👏
Just for curiosity: were you using a 12.9 iPad Pro on your lap? Wasn’t too heavy comparing to a smaller iPad? I’m considering buying the 12.9 iPad Pro but still in doubt.
Yeah I have the 12.9 2018 model - I’ve only ever had this as used it as my computer for a while - so couldn’t compare to accurately - but I find it fine. The space makes multi-app multi tasking a reality thou I think :)
i just got an ipad air 5, each time is use pencil for whatever, it get hot so fast. it does not get to temperature warming but still somehow make me uncomfortable. how do you think about it.
How are you not getting the floating keyboard? If I scribble, my keyboard will convert to the floating kb and getting it back to a half screen keyboard is a major pain.
Weird, after this comment, it works. If I touch the cursor with finger, the full keyboard appears. If I choose the option “show keyboard” I see the floating keyboard
The thing that I was looking for in all videos is how to make new line ( like pressing return or enter ) . But it seems that it is not available … thanks for the video … I learn at least 3 new thing with Apple Pencil
Great video. Thanks for all the tips! I’d love to know what drawing app you were using in section 8, 9:20 in the video. It looked very real, like you were actually using a pencil on paper. Thanks.
Simon, have just discovered and will be going through your back catalogue. One question with regard to Scribble that has vexed me.. is it possible to select or load alternative Fonts ?( i would like to use a ‘cursive’ one).
If you're talking about using a cursive font throughout the iPad, for all your apps, that’s not possible right now, I think.. but if you’re alright with doing that only for specific note taking apps, there’s a tutorial I can link here. With that, You can open a text box with the font you want, and use the Apple Pencil to scribble in that, and it’ll automatically turn into your selected font. I do this in GoodNotes all the time with a "handwritten font" to make it more journal like 😂
Hi, iv got the newest os on my ipad pro m1 ..but i dont have that scribble option ..neither in my settings or in apple notes / pen option..NADA..? my ipad language iv choose english ..stil nada.
Any recent iPad that you feel you can actually afford would be a good bet for studies. But do consider too if you will need a laptop for what you do. :)
Thanks! It was a combination of clips from the Skillshare class footage and my designer and I are using Adobe Illustrator on Mac. Might have to watch the icon class to find that one out. :)
I’m using Apple Pencil 2. You would need to check any 3rd party brand offered the same functionality such as touch sensitivity, angle of pencil and double tap features… not sure it’s worth it to be honest.
My life is 😮tearing ups and down 😢since I used this Pencil ✏️ oh man I know can drew on iPad and make this dewing as a vision board for my dreams 🎯✏️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🇪🇬✨

I download a lot of language books in PDF form and use the pencil to work through them. It's been a great way to study.

Fantastic tutorial! @BetterCreating What is the drawing app used in the 14th section please (especially from 9:00 to 9:04?). Many thanks!

Please is there anyway you can turn off auto correction for scribble. It's practically unusable for me
Are you using it for other languages?
me too so trouble

Hello! Is there any way to create a separate line while scribbling to text?
Thank you for the great video. It appears the double tap option is not a function for the Original first generation Apple Pencil. Also, what folio do you have for your iPad and does it come with a keyboard? I ask because I am looking for a good folio that will last. how do i leave apps, i just end up using my fingers to do it.
How are you not getting the floating keyboard? If I scribble, my keyboard will convert to the floating kb and getting it back to a half screen keyboard is a major pain.
Not sure on that one - this is just how it works for me… maybe check settings tabs … hope you fix it
Same for me. Only when the first time you enable scribble you can see the full keyboard.
Weird, after this comment, it works. If I touch the cursor with finger, the full keyboard appears. If I choose the option “show keyboard” I see the floating keyboard
I just wish notes + other native os apps had a Way to stop the Onboard Keyboard popping up!
How do you drop to the next line when changing scribbles to text?
Good question!? Can’t remember - I think there is a return gesture…
What solar night/day widget are you using? Looks neat

How to get the little keyboard go away when the pinch don’t work?
How to get the keyboard u have. I have an iPad Pro m2 and the keyboard is completely different
Perhaps it’s the UK layout? But full width is usually available… maybe it’s different on the 12.9 inch to 11?
It disappeared when I updated to ios 17

How close is the Apple Pencil on an iPad "touch&feel" experience to that of pen/pencil on paper?
not close but there are „paperlike“ screen protectors for it.
I was hoping to dictate my book and edit with the pencil. Is this possible?
Idk how people can take such good handwriting without hurting their hands, I find that impossible to do.
Apple Pencil scribble feature in notion is not so smooth like the notes app
