I download a lot of language books in PDF form and use the pencil to work through them. It's been a great way to study.

I know this going help me right away. I have a really old Wacom tablet that had the mouse and pen stylus. I had so much fun with it

I use my apple pencil all day everyday, I write on my iPad mini like a journal. Same with my iPad Air that I use as a laptop. It’s awesome but SO expensive

Oh my goodness, I had no idea how versatile the pencil is! I got it to use with Procreate (which I need to learn as I’m not great at it) but will definitely re watch this video on my phone so I can actually do the things shown in order to remember them ! I’m not a natural with tech but these tips are genius, thank you for sharing

I’m with many commenters on here this has changed the way I use my iPad from a simple watch/read device to a powerful laptop ( but more portable). I now use this rather than my MacBook Pro which has been changed for a MacMini with a M2 Pro. I’m now working through your other videos.
You may have seen it but I watched your Apple Pencil video a few weeks after I purchased a Paperlike screen protector - the feel of the pencil on a screen with this cover - its fabulous ( I am just an evangelical customer )

i just got an ipad air 5, each time is use pencil for whatever, it get hot so fast. it does not get to temperature warming but still somehow make me uncomfortable. how do you think about it.

Great video I am having one problem however while using the Notes app. I will be using the Notes app and need to go back and write something, add something, or edit, etc., and while I am still using the Apple Pencil, the cursor does not move into the new position I attempt to tap. Even if I use my finger or the trackpad on the keyboard, it does not respond until I either hit done and attempt to type again or close the app out. Thanks

Thanks! It was a combination of clips from the Skillshare class footage and my designer and I are using Adobe Illustrator on Mac. Might have to watch the icon class to find that one out. :)

Simon, have just discovered and will be going through your back catalogue. One question with regard to Scribble that has vexed me.. is it possible to select or load alternative Fonts ?( i would like to use a ‘cursive’ one).

If you're talking about using a cursive font throughout the iPad, for all your apps, that’s not possible right now, I think.. but if you’re alright with doing that only for specific note taking apps, there’s a tutorial I can link here. With that, You can open a text box with the font you want, and use the Apple Pencil to scribble in that, and it’ll automatically turn into your selected font. I do this in GoodNotes all the time with a "handwritten font" to make it more journal like 😂

Great tip for screenshooting full pages to fill out. I’m having a issue doing it though my pencil seems to want to scroll the page down each time I want to fill out a new box? Is this because it’s a cheap alternative to the Apple Pencil. It’s the Eip pro pencil and has been really good for everything else 😅

Thank you for the great video. It appears the double tap option is not a function for the Original first generation Apple Pencil. Also, what folio do you have for your iPad and does it come with a keyboard? I ask because I am looking for a good folio that will last. As well I did have another questions can you do a video on how the best way to hold an iPad when writing, drawing…etc?
Ah yes: double tap only available on 2nd gen pencil. The cover I now have is from Pitika - but isn’t a keyboard: I’d checkout the Logitech option possibly.

Perhaps it’s the UK layout? But full width is usually available… maybe it’s different on the 12.9 inch to 11?
It disappeared when I updated to ios 17
How are you not getting the floating keyboard? If I scribble, my keyboard will convert to the floating kb and getting it back to a half screen keyboard is a major pain.
Not sure on that one - this is just how it works for me… maybe check settings tabs … hope you fix it

I just returned mine. The fact that it costs over $120.00, but I still had to use my finger for some of the navigation, feels like a rip off.

I’m using Apple Pencil 2. You would need to check any 3rd party brand offered the same functionality such as touch sensitivity, angle of pencil and double tap features… not sure it’s worth it to be honest.
Just for curiosity: were you using a 12.9 iPad Pro on your lap? Wasn’t too heavy comparing to a smaller iPad? I’m considering buying the 12.9 iPad Pro but still in doubt.
Yeah I have the 12.9 2018 model - I’ve only ever had this as used it as my computer for a while - so couldn’t compare to accurately - but I find it fine. The space makes multi-app multi tasking a reality thou I think :)

Most - other than the double tap function - will work I believe.
Would the Air be good for uni? What would you recommend?
Any recent iPad that you feel you can actually afford would be a good bet for studies. But do consider too if you will need a laptop for what you do. :)

No problem. Yes - i believe they do - it may also depend on the creator who made the specific video series - either way - the free trial via my link is a great way to test it out for free and see if it works for you :)
I am a happy skillshare user and am not an english native speaker either. 99% of the videos are in english and even if they are not, english subtitle is always available. The only problem is there is so many interesting things to learn and only 24 hrs/day :) honestly, when I first subscribed I was blown away by both the quantity&quality of the material they had. And I noticed many of the videos are provided by actual teachers or professionals, hence you feel like you have a private tutor. (Meaning chapters are well organized and they follow a well thought plan) Oh before I forget, I enjoyed this video so much, thank you for your hard work.

Huge file size after annotations
I have seen many similar questions but no answer to this problem.
I have PDF files that reached a size of 200-400 mb, while originally around 5 mb, after adding annotations with apple pencil using the Preview app. Scrolling through pages has become extremely slow (sometimes takes 3-5 seconds to change page) and, of course, the disk starts getting full (I am annotating many scientific paper).
Switched to a third party app (PDF Expert) recently and the problem seems to not appear there.
Is the Preview app that inefficient?
Interesting - I find GoodNotes is best. Annotating in the Apple Notes or images app does get larger yes.
Where you all getting these “full page toggles”? I own an iPad Air, I take a screenshot and no full page option? People claim that Apple Pencil works with Notion too! Where are people getting these from?

The most useful thing for an apple pencil is a Zugu case, bar none.
Why missed from my ipad the double tap,and the scribble settings and function?
Could be you need to update the iOS or maybe look on pencil settings to see options
I mean this in the nicest way, but I hadn't realized Scribble's handwriting recognition had gotten so good. I always try to print carefully, often meaning I can just type the text faster, but your handwriting (again, this was helpful to see) is... not that careful. I'll be less rigid next time I use it....
One thing not mentioned is how to turn the Apple Pencil off. If you just do nothing and let your Pencil sit around, it slowly, continuously consumes the battery will be fully discharged in about a week. That's because it's not really off; it's just sleeping. It's monitoring for movements and will wake up and connect to your iPad if you pick it up or just jostle it in your bag.
To turn it off, just turn off Bluetooth on your iPad and then turn it right back on.* It is still paired, and the battery charge will last for months and months. I generally charge my Pencil to only 70-80% before turning it off. Turning it back on is as simple as reattaching it for a second or three. You can extend the life of your Pencil this way.
The only downside I see is the features of touching your lockscreen with an Apple Pencil for a quick note. For people using the Apple Pencil frequently during the day, this might not be so useful. Still, before going to bed or even stepping away from your iPad, turning it off is easy.
*Touch the Apple Pencil entry in Bluetooth after toggling Bluetooth off and on, and it will tell you reattach the Pencil to turn it back on (or insert it for Apple Pencil 1).
