This will be my last plasterboard fixing video for a long time 😉 I have hundreds of hours of video to edit on installing a kitchen, plus how to fit Multipanel’s, but I’ll try and edit the videos when the weather is colder! All previous plasterboard fixing tests can be seen here- www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/forum1/viewtopic.php?t=106943 I hope everyone has a great Sunday 😉
Why anyone would get annoyed by these type of videos is beyond me. I actually found your channel initially by searching for plasterboard fixings. Been watching every video ever since (at least when youtube is kind of enough to offer it up in my subscription feed). Thanks for all your great videos, thanks for putting up the spreadsheet on the forum and don't let the trolls and other internet scum get to you :) All the best from Belgium!
I think your videos are really useful and I have watched many, they are straightforward, to the point with no bull. Just what you need when you are searching for an answer to a problem. Long may you carry on making them and try not to let the smart arses get to you as they seem to come out of the woodwork these days.
Outstanding! I really like how you did a real-world test, and didn't just pull straight down on a screw, but instead showed how a shelf with a lot of weight would hold up. Thanks, and very much appreciate your video!!
Excellent video; straight forward and no nonsense. This brought a great relief, as it confirmed these will easily handle my use case: a force, entirely in shear, of less than half what you tested. I’m now a subscriber. Thanks.
Hi mate, this was a no nonsense test of those fixings, and they stood up quite well I think, ignore the naysayers if the dont like the way you do stuff that's their problem, they don't have to watch, I welcome and are grateful for whatever you take your time to show us. Stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.
Thanks for this roadtest Mr H I have some Bullfix screws ready to be used and this was very opportune for me to see just how robust they are I can now go ahead and use them with confidence once I figure out how to put a TV bracket on a wall that has the power plug socket and Aerial fittings already installed and just where I want the bracket to go.....
I saw that guys comment on the official Corefix videos and thought he had some balls. Glad to see someone tested them out! I've seen a lot of your other test videos before and always enjoy them.
i like the plaster board fixing videos . they are always coming out with new types and its nice to see them in action . . id have no problem with you doing more of these videos
Fixing things to plasterboard is a problem that nearly all of us encounter regularly, so plasterboard fixing videos offer practical demonstrations of manufacturers’ claims.
They carry an impressive amount of weight, but 20mm is a bloody great hole. You’d have to be pretty sure that you weren’t going to move the tv bracket/ shelve before you started to pop 20 mm holes all over your lounge wall.
Thanks for this video excellent work! Would you say these wouod be sufficient to use to wall mount a 65" LG G3 into plasterboard. Sorry for what may be a dumb question but im a DIY novice
#ultimatehandyman thank you for reviewing these fixings. The reason for the small screws in one of the packs is so that they can be used when the gap behind the plasterboard is very small, and of course there is no point in having long screws if most of the screw is not actually in any substrate. Most other fixings, with the exception of Gripfit, cannot cope with narrow gaps behind the plasterboard. I can understand why the guy who invented these wanted you to review them because you have lot of subscribers and in fairness, judging by your review and others, his fixings are very good, especially as they can fit in all widths of gaps, whereas many of the fixings cannot. Again, thanks for all your videos on plasterboard fixings, I have watched all of them.
top dollar testing, that's exactly what i would be doing to test them. I'm weary of all these claim's as well and tend to just use the metal screw in type as i dont trust plastic in to plasterboard yet. so once again, thanks for the video's. been very informative.

So what do you u think is the best plaster board fitting? I used hollow mounts for a while then switched to geefix geefix look strongest with longest length hopefully my tv 40 inch TV is fine

Thanks, for dot and dab walls, you can use either of these two- Rigifix- ua-cam.com/video/xaYfs3lr1jI/v-deo.html&t Corefix- ua-cam.com/video/7xLhIPoO5gQ/v-deo.html&t Using resin fixings should be pretty easy with dot and dab, you just need to follow this video - ua-cam.com/video/oUJPjJsdl0c/v-deo.html&t But you might need to fabricate some spacers to go over the studs, if the item you are fixing is heavy, or you could use washers/nuts etc.

Maybe for the future you could use 5 gallon drums filled with water. That way you can vary the weight and won't split if falling a short distance.

Put the load more to the front of the shelf to put more pressure on the fixings, this would be a more accurate test IMHO!!!
