I am so glad you made it safely. I worried you would run into problems with Helene along the way. I know you are having fun with Becca and cannot wait for your collaboration on the new blog @Sew Off Kilter and all the fun adventures.
I count visiting a state if I stop long enough to eat and or a bio break. I travel with my service dog and she needs to stretch her legs as often as I do so driving through a state always becomes a visit to rest stops or truck stops, etc.
Smaller quilt shows = greater chances for a ribbon!
    Blessings my friend, Andrea J.

So happy that you got to DC safely. Speaking of visiting states in a country, I have been to 5 of the 7 states here in Australia. Whether I get to the other two (Northern Territory and Tasmania) is yet to be seen and depends on my health issues. As for the driving for long hours I completely understand that after driving from Victoria to Queensland, the only difference is I had two young teens and a baby in an old beat up Galant. The car was over packed with a homemade pallet of sorts on the roof rack. So yes, I do feel for you Ian. Much love to you and Becca and I hope your move is one of joy and peace.

Hey Ian, I followed your trip videos. Glad you made it to Virginia. I went to the Fredericksburg Sewing expo twice. Previously they were closer to us in Chantilly VA but they outgrew the space and moved down to their present location. They do come here to Florida, in Lakeland and I have only been once about 8 years ago. It was smaller than Virginia’s show then. I should go again and check it out. I purchased my cutting table, my serger, and my first sewing and embroidery machine (at different times of course) thru the shows. They have such great show price bargains and bundles. Wishing for you that your car and belongings arrive soon so you can settle in! Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

We made lots of stops along the way, it was a great trip, but being the only driver and the kids not old enough to really help with navigation, was a long trip. But we made lots of memories along the way. My goal was to try and have them see all of the contiguous states. We did not make it up to Maine or Connecticut area.

    Hey, Ian!
Moving-especially on your own-is a huge undertaking. I’m glad that it went relatively smoothly. Can relate to long distance driving b yourself. Re the criteria for ‘visiting a state, ai think that for a road trip passing through a state is ample criteria. Several of my camping friends and I have Can/Us sticker maps that we use to record the provinces and states we visit. One of my camping friends-retired US Navy 🇺🇸💙-from ME purports that, when camping, you need to at least cook a meal-and assembly of sandwiches does not constitute cooking. The rest of us just ignore him and decide on our own criteria. As for me, I’ve only recorded places where a Ikve actually camped overnight-6 provinces and 22 states since I started recording in 2000.
Sorry to hear about the damage to your car. Not to a downer, but IMHO you should get a large reduction in the cost of your car’s delivery, given that you now have to wait for it and t think that the value of your car could/would(?) be depreciated due to the repairs.
I’m looking forward to following you as you set up you studio space,
Take care, and stay well, my Quilty friend! 😂

Looks like you need a new trunk top. Hard to fix the dents on the edges.

driving through and counting the state is cheating. you need to visit at least three quilt stores per state to count.
my three cents on that topic 😂

You do realize that you are moving to NoVA, not DC? I was born in DC, raised in MD, just outside the city, moved to NoVA after a divorce. DC is not NoVa. Really it isn’t. I have memories of my mom shopping for fabric at G Street Fabrics back when it was on G Street in DC. I was living in Leesburg about a year ago. Dagnabbit! I wish I were still there…
