And I saw you from Box B! A rare privilege. Ron toned down his East End Jewish accent for the film, which I thought was too bad, although I suppose it was inevitable.
I work as a healthcare professional.... and every time I get in a difficult situation I think of Ron Moody in this scene and sing..... "I'm reviewing, the situation"......it always makes people laugh. ha ha
Ron and I became friends back in the late 1980s, and stayed in touch for many years after. What a delightful and talented man. I have so many lovely memories of him... and many funny letters (he was a prolific letter writer and excellent author)!
Oh how lucky you are.. I would of paid a fortune to just sit with him have a beer and pick his brain.. what a character he would of been. He would of had me in stitches
@@CultgentlemanJack No doubt! His humor was sly, and his stories about his life just as funny and fascinating. We spent time together when he visited the US, and nearly made a comedy/horror film, but the deal fell apart at the last moment. From that point on we stayed in touch via letter writing... and they're really funny!
Such a talented actor. His film performance as Fagin is one of the greatest in musical film history. He's also very good in Mel brooks' film TWELVE CHAIRS and in THE FLIGHT OF THE DOVES (also with Jack Wild & Mark Lester)
What a brilliant man. As much as I appreciate his response as to why he believes people admire that character so much, I think it’s a mix of his mischievousness but most importantly it’s because you can see deep down he truly has a heart of gold. He brought those boys in when they had absolutely nothing and treated them as his own. Beautiful character.
I met Ron in a restaurant in NY in the 80's. Went up to him eating dinner and he asked me to sit down with him and couldn't have been nicer... my favorite film and he asks me to sit with him. What else can you say...thrill of a lifetime. Love you Ron
Am a forty two yer old male and remember Oliver Twist as a child. Seen it many times over the years and recently on Christmas day 2018 !! Great film and brilliant actors !!
i used to watch that film daily and loved it every time when i was about 6, such a great film that also took you back in time with brilliant scenery craft they really grasped the reality of the dirty rotten London back streets. such a great film
Ron made the film and no-one else. Fagin was The Dodger when he was young ........pass it on routine. Lionel Bart exceptional songs _ Ian Dury of his time. Great talents - all three.
Nonsense. They all had great acting. Oliver Reed , Mark Lester, Jack Dawkins, Shani Wallis etc. It was al together that made the magic. The songs also, the scenery. Everything. And yes Ron Moody was brilliant also. Excellent performance. As were Clint Eastwood , Lee van Cleef and Eli Wallach in The Good The Bad and The Ugly. Not only Clint Eastwood. It's the mix of great characters that do it. Along with the music of Ennio Morricone the scenery. Everything has to fit. That makes it pure bliss. "You can go but be back soon !" 😉

It was a pleasure acting with him.

See David Copperfield from 1969 or '70 if you can. He's marvellous in that.
Mark Lester wasn't in flight of the doves,,
May Ron Moody RIP. An absolute legend who set a precedent for one of the most revered roles of musical theatre / film.

My eldest just starred in Oliver in the school play....good stuff....and they watched lots of clips to get a feel for the characters.... superb
That's awesome
Ron Moody Rest in peace, missing you
I liked Fagan as a character because he was the first adult to show Oliver kindness. He was the lovable Rogue. Great acting from Mr Moody.
The quintessential antihero
I wish there was a LOVE button.
I was 9 when mom and dad took myself and my brothers to see Oliver. The magic has never left..

Great Ron Moody trivia: he didn't marry until 60 and ended up with six kids!

Ron Moody was in the 1969 Version of David Copperfield.

Fabulous interviewing.
Legend.

" 'E's not the Messiah. 'E's a naughty little boy!" I want to hear him say that.

I did the show a couple of times in my youth. An incredible experience! Everyone should do it at some point, so much fun!
I wish you'd tell us more about what your experience was, especially in that original pre-Broadway tour and Broadway production.
He was great
Interviewed by Mark Ronson? He went all Winston Churchill at the end. :)
The best!
He does really well with one of the dumbest interviewers I have ever heard. No eye-rolls, no sighs. A polite pro!
A fantastic one-off man!
"yes I love them... now, back to me" XD

Hope you had a good experience with Peter Coe, I've heard negative things. May he rest in peace, though.
You are here interviewing me? And, you want to talk about the other characters? . . . They're all wonderful . . . Now, back to me! Lol, hilarious!
What legend
Hmm. You’re giving me ideas! Maybe Ron’s letters, plus others whom I’ve worked with too.
You need to pick a pocket or two!!!!!!!!!!
Fagin, not Fagan.
