I am so glad that this channel came up in my search! About a year ago, I suddenly got interested in plants! One of the 1st plants that I purchased was a Pachira...It was also the easiest to maintain and is soooooo beautiful today! However, she's leaning because she's grown too tall for her little pot...I was so afraid of repotting her with the fear of her dying!! This video just gave me the ultimate confidence to give it a try!...Tomorrow, I will attempt this...wish me luck...I would be devastated if my "FREEDOM" died!!
Hey Rhon, thank you so much for watching this video. Today, just in a couple of hours, I will also post another video about one of my money trees, which is also very tall and not stable at all. I will continue braiding the long stems. Hopefully, that video will be also interesting for you. And in the next weeks I will be repotting 2 other pachiras (I have several, lol) and will post a new video about that too. 💜🪴 I am sure everything will be just fine with yours.

Hey Gloriana, thanks a lot! Yes, they like humidity, I spray them whenever I remember. For watering I use tap water, but I let in stay in bottles for 2 days. It also depends on the quality of the water in your area I guess. However, these plants don't seem to be hard to grow :)
Hi, thanks for this video. Can you show how you continue to braid? I have 2 money trees one small and one big 🙂and it would be helpful to learn what to do.
Hey Diana, of course, I will try to make a new video on braiding soon. I have also two. This one is the small one. The other one is taller than me. I have a separate video about that one ☘️
thank you for the very informative videos, I'm ion the prosses of putting 3 Pachiras in one bonsai pot, for a forest style bonsai. Wish me luck :) Also just wondering what part of the US are you living that your plants grow so well?
I’m still confused how often to water the money plant! Once a week? I’ve heard to put ice cubes in it and I don’t get it how does that work. My plant isn’t as big as yours trough it’s smaller
Hey Shazia. Ice cubes can be very harmful for your plant. I wouldn't recommend doing it. These plants never experience cold or ice on the soil. As for watering, don't water it by a schedule. We all have different conditions at our homes. Check the soil instead. Look at the bottom of the pot, is the soil through the holes moist? If yes, don't water. If no, it's time to water. If your pot is smaller, you can also check the soil from the top. Put your finger in the soil, about 2-3 cm deep. If the soil is dry, you can water. If not, wait for a couple of days.
Awesome and very informative video! Can i use a self watering planter (the one with a saucer at the bottom to catch excess water) for my money tree and water it from the bottom? If I can do this, will I risk having gnats, root rots or other issues because of the constant moisture in the roots?
Hey Peter. I think you may have the risk of root rot in this case, as the moisture will always be in the pot and the air ventilation will be blocked for the roots. With Pachira I would definitely recommend to water it from the top of the soil, but then also have big holes in the pots so that water doesn't stay for a long time. They get rotten very easily, if overwatered.
these trees don't need much water at all...personally I wrecked on of mine, and only watered once a week, the soil wasn't dry enough. Let the soil COMPLETEY dry out and then wait a few days. That's the best way to water these trees.
I've just discovered my new money tree has gnats..deep in the soil too. I'm changing the soil in the next 24 hours but I want to make sure there aren't any left. Is it possible for me to safely remove most of the dirt from near the roots to transplant it so I don't get bugs in the new pot?
Yes, you can safely remove the soil, but maybe you will still have their eggs in the remaining soil. There are various ways to get rid of them. I guess the easiest is to cover the soil with a layer of 1 centimeter of sand. They won't be able to lay eggs any more
When the stems get longer, you can remove the bottom leaves and continue braiding the stems only when they are green. When they are even a bit wooden, you can easily break or damage them.🌿🌿
I always change them, to try out from different brands. But I always choose liquid ones, even though the sticks can last forever and you don't need to remember about fertilizing, but still :) I prefer the liquid ones ☘️
this plant was not pot bound, what made you decide to repot? also, sorry to say but the pot you chose to repot is too large.. this will encourage the plant to focus energy on growing roots to fill the pot, instead of growing taller or more foliage.
Hey :) Thanks for your comment. I repotted it as it was in the pot from the nursery. Sometimes they grow just in peat and I replaced it with a good quality potting mix with perlite. It's twice as big now and the growth is just crazy. I will show you an update video soon. Repotting is not stopping the growth in any way. ☘️🌸

Hello, I have a small money tree and the instructions say “2 ice cubes per week” is this correct? Also, after I repotted my money tree it stopped growing, what could be the reason?
Hey Des, the ice cubes are recommended even for orchids, but this is absolutely wrong and I have no idea where it started from. Why people recommend ice cubes for tropical plants, when they do not experience cold in their natural habitat. I would not do it. When have you repotted it? If it's 1-2 months, maybe it will get acclimated, adjusted to the new soil and then you'll see the growth. Usually, they grow pretty fast. However, if it was long time ago, and you feel that your plant was growing, and now it kind of stopped growing, the reason may be the pieces of wires at the bottom of the stems. The sellers usually put the stems together and keep them tight together with pieces of wires, which prevent the proper growth. If you have not removed the soil from the roots, maybe you haven't noticed them, but if yours is also the braided plant, most probably (not 100%), the wires are there
With mine i just completly soak it all the way through with water that i mixed liquid fertilizer into and then let the soil dry out completly before the next time i water
Hello how are you? My question is whenever I buy plants from nursery, plants have been planted in clay soil which is not suitable for all plants. Plants can't breathe properly. In this condition what should be done ? When I try to remove clay soil roots get damaged. Recently I brought corton plant, I found it in clay soil very tricky part of removing it I left the plant in water but nothing happened I used fork to remove soil. And now my dear is in stress so am I. :(
Hey Abhiraj, I'm fine. Thank you. :) How are you? Yes, unfortunately, clay soil is not good for many plants. I would also keep it in water and try to remove layer after layer. It would need to soak in water for a long time. Maybe try to remove the soil, massaging the roots slowly. A fork or a knife may damage the roots. Sometimes I use a spoon, which is not sharp, to make sure I will not cut all the roots. I hope your croton will recover soon. ☘️
