I absolutely LOVE your channel!!! I just found your channel recently and your style, your funniness makes my day!! I’m trying to step into Art Journalling and you’re an inspiration. Your not intimidating and I love your honesty!! I wish I could go to a workshop of yours!!
I put really hard dryed brushes( ofcours those are the ones my kids neclected...;p ) in my dishwasher... they are not all clean but when you use some soap on them afther , they are soft and clean in a minute!
Love the colours, and the spots. The scribble journalling completes it nicely. I also find it really hard to scribble journal, as I find my hand automatically reverts back to my normal handwriting after a few seconds, so I don't tend to do it, even though I love the effect. Guess I should practice more!
I really appreciate that you explain why you make the choices you do. It makes it easier to apply your ideas to what I’m doing. I don’t currently use my gelli plate that much, but your techniques work well for other types of painting. If you know, because I still have not figured it out, why would we use a gelatin plate when we could use the exact same technique directly on paper? I keep asking art teachers but never get a direct response. Every technique I’ve seen demonstrated on a gelatin plate could also be done directly onto a substrate. I don’t understand how a gelatin plate is an improvement, except for when you want to flip an image. It works marvelously for that, like if you want to do mirror image stamping.
You get different impressions from lifting a print than directly stenciling or painting, plus ghost prints (prints made with the same paint on a second piece of paper) can be truly beautiful! I can pick up unexpected colors from previous layers on the gel plate that I would not think to add normally while painting that gives spontaneity. It's also super fast, so I can probably make 2-3 prints in the time it takes to stencil/paint one entire page. Another thing I've found is that prints dry very quickly, so that's helpful too if I want to get started making something right away. Lastly-- it's just kind of addictive. Once I'm set up I can pull prints for quite a while! If you want to experiment, you can easily make your own gelatin sheet at home. It takes a bit of pre-planning, but it is a great way to see how you feel about splurging for a relatively expensive gelli plate. > ua-cam.com/video/JZgBkBv8y5s/v-deo.html Could be that gelatin printing isn't for you: I thought I'd love oil paints and turns out I'm way too impatient for that medium. *shrug* Hope you don't mind me giving my own answer to your question!
This is a older video but just as fun as all of them! You crack me up Carolyn!! So fun. Love you and all you create. 👍❤️

Can't believe you got a poem from that dry, dry book! :-) Thanks for the video! I should pull out my acrylic gouache set that I got to try again.
I wasn't sure I was going to be able to find it Jill! That was a whole lot tougher than I could have ever imagined lol!
