RIP Robert B. Sherman (December 19, 1925 - March 6, 2012), aged 86 And RIP Richard M. Sherman (June 12, 1928 - May 25, 2024), aged 95 You both will be remembered as legends
I saw this program when I was 7 years old and I have carried for years the memory that when they won their Oscar, they said supercalifragilicistic expealidous. Thanx for posting and verifying that my memory was accurate.
This was in the documentary Bout them The Boys. That movie should have been nominated for Best Documentary Feature, they were even in Saving Mr. Banks, played by Jason Schartzman and B.J Novak. I would love to see this with them
The Oscar should of gone to (in order): #1 "I Will Wait For You", The Ubrellas Of Cherbourg (France) (sung by Catherine Deneuve & Nino Castelnuovo) #2 "Goldfinger", Goldfinger (UK) (sung by Shirley Bassey) #3 "I Should Of Know Better", A Hard Day's Night (UK) (sung by The Beatles) #4 "Viva Las Vegas", Viva Las Vegas (sung by Elvis Presley) #5 "My Kind Of Town" Robin And The Seven Hoods, (sung by Frank Sinatra & Chorus) #6 "If I Fell", A Hard Day's Night (UK), (sung by The Beatles) #7 "And I Love Her", A Hard Day's Night (UK) (sung by The Beatles) #8 "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious", Mary Poppins (sung by Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke & Cartoon Characters) #9 "A Spoonful Of Sugar", Mary Poppins, (sung by Julie Andrews, Karen Dotrice, & Matthew Garber) #10 "This Boy", A Hard Day's Night (UK), (sung by The Beatles) #11 "Can't By Me Love", A Hard Day's Night (UK) (sung by The Beatles) #12 "Hush...Hush, Sweet Charlotte", Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte, (sung by Al Martino) #13 "Chim-Chim Cher-ee", Mary Poppins (sung by Julie Andrews & Dick Van Dyke) #14 "A Hard Day's Night", A Hard Day's Night (UK) (sung by The Beatles) #15 "She Loves You", A Hard Day's Night (UK) (sung by The Beatles) #16 "The Lady Loves Me", Viva Las Vegas, (sung by Elvis Presley) #17 "Dear Heart", Dear Heart, (sung by The Henry Mancini Singers) #18 "Stay Awake", Mary Poppins, (sung by Julie Andrews) #19 'Style", Robin And The Seven Hoods, (sung by Frank Sinatra & Chorus) #20 "Today", Advance To The Rear, (sung by The New Christy Minstrels). NOTE: I've not seen Where Love Has Gone.
"I Will Wait for You" was not eligible for the 1964 awards. It was nominated in 1965 but lost to the exquisite "The Shadow of Your Smile." And neither Deneuve nor Castelnuovo actually sang it; their voices were both dubbed for the entire film. The woman who did the singing was the real life sister of Michel LeGrand, the composer of the beautiful score.
Well that was not necessary to mention another one of the movie's songs in the acceptance speech but I'm glad the other one won. The Sherman Brother's music in Mary Poppins is pure whimsy
R.I.P. Richard N. Sherman (1928-2024)
Best song ever, accompanied by a fantastic choreography, with a number of variations throughout the movie. Bravissimo!
RIP Robert B. Sherman (December 19, 1925 - March 6, 2012), aged 86
And
RIP Richard M. Sherman (June 12, 1928 - May 25, 2024), aged 95
You both will be remembered as legends

How wonderful they appreciated Fred Astaire! He looks great and still moves wonderfully. Already 66 years old here, born in 1899.

Not able to formulate a proper question?

Back when the Oscars were characterized by grace, class, and dignity.
I saw this program when I was 7 years old and I have carried for years the memory that when they won their Oscar, they said supercalifragilicistic expealidous. Thanx for posting and verifying that my memory was accurate.
"Feed the Birds" should have been nominated and won.
OMG I was 8 and thought the same thing ! We were just talking about it
When Julie sings, "All around the Cathedral, the saints and apostles...," I get the chills...
Or A Hard Day’s Night!! But Feed the Birds is lovely. I do like Chim Chim Cheree
I agree
Chim Chim Cher-ee had great song.
Back when we Americans had class, worldwide respect, respect for ourselves & pride in being Americans!
Funny, I was just about to write the first six words of your reply. Amen.
Also Back when Americans only allowed white people in places like this :)
Would of loved to have been born in that era... How amazing those 2!!!
Probably the best and most memorable Oscar speech ever!

This was in the documentary Bout them The Boys. That movie should have been nominated for Best Documentary Feature, they were even in Saving Mr. Banks, played by Jason Schartzman and B.J Novak. I would love to see this with them
ik
the Sherman brothers nearly look like twins
yeah but far from it
They we're 3 years apart...
Well deserved, Mancini!
viaburgos As much as I enjoy the music of Henry Mancini he didn’t win.
would give anything to of experienced this live!
:) LOVELY SONG,Indeed! :)
Terrible recent years for Disney. Those were the good old days when Disney could do no wrong. RIP Richard Sherman!
I think of the recent years as more like hit and miss! But I agree in terms of the 60’s. But the last Disney masterpiece was Encanto
The Boys brought me here
nice
Fred Astaire was 66 years old ..
I think the actual best song from Mary Poppins is A Spoonful of Sugar, but it wasn’t even nominated.
One of the Beatles songs should've been nominated.
the camera angles they used back then.. so many close ups

@@Harringtonml54 So there!
This Boy and She Loves You weren’t written for or first appeared in A Hard Day’s Night. This Boy also only appeared as an instrumental in the movie.
I see a similar moment in marc Shaiman and Scott Whitman's future
Well that was not necessary to mention another one of the movie's songs in the acceptance speech but I'm glad the other one won. The Sherman Brother's music in Mary Poppins is pure whimsy
All the great Lennon McCartney music over looked? Nuts
Film music - written especially for a film!
55 carb is filled ?
Too bad "My Kind of Town" was up against Mary Poppins. Great song, too.
Fred looks old here.
