The Young Ones! That brings back some memories of my childhood when the show was airing here in The Netherlands as well. They were hilarious! Some interesting note… Cliff Richard has a song called “The Young Ones”. So that is the link between them. 😁

It's British and I'm dutch. I grow up with this song. Always fun to hear and sing. Even today on our radio we sometimes hear the song again. It's so mutch fun
When Cliff does this song at his concerts now we all shout “get down!” at the appropriate point, it makes him laugh.
Weird guy is Rick Mayall total comic genius, sadly died too soon.
And the reference to Cliff doing Times was that he was in a West End musical called “Time”, the hair and pink suit were his costume.

This actually was a number 1 hit in the Dutch Top40 for 4 weeks in 1986, and even in 2008 it still made the Dutch Evergreen Top 1000 as the number 2 song on the chart. 😅

you really have to watch the young ones to understand this. Also the original clip has so much funny stuff in it where the young ones take over Cliff his song completely. so funny, especially when adrian was it, not sure, knocks everyone out with a sledgehammer.
When this song plays on the radio, it goes full blast, and I fall inline with the background "vocals". No shame.

I had a pen friend from London, but 12 years ago he passed away but still have contact with his parents, and his mother was background singer at Cliff Richard. They will come this or next year to Amsterdam to see me, for the first time after 30/31 years

My two sons were going through puberty when this was a hit and assigned chores like washing the dishes weren't high on their list of priorities. The radio was allowed to play loudly and when this hit was played again, they shouted along loudly - so loud that the neighbors hung over the fence to see if everything was okay...and laughed heartily at the sight of so much acting talent while the job was completed without damage.

Ah yes Sir Cliff (he was knighted in 1995). The British counterpart to Elvis in his day. He has participated in Eurovision twice.
His later work is very different though, very gospel inspired. He also played Heathcliff in a musical of Wuthering Heights called Heathcliff I believe.

The Young Ones were hilarious. There's enough to find on YT. I remember one scene that made me laugh so hard I was almost on the floor. Something had happened to Neil and suddenly he took his wig off and said "LOOK I'M SO STRESSED I'M MOULTING!' Hilarious.

The most funny episodes are the VCR and doing the laundry. Before the young ones they did the dangerous brothers doing all kind of dangerous stunts anafter the young ones they did the serie Bottom.
These guys did a comedy about a 'evvy metal band called "Bad News" - if you can find it, try their cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody" (with Brian May!) so bad it's great!
When you stopped the video on the bottom of your screen was a link to the Marsh Family. They were and ordinary Brtish family Dad, Mum, two boys two girls and a dog. They decided to do a silly version of One More Day from les Mis but changed the lyrics to suit the lockdown and Covid. It went viral and they have since done thier own versions of loads of thers changing the words. My other two favourites are their versions of The Lion Sleeps Tnight and I Know Him So Well from th emusical Chess. You must must must check out the original as you love Les Mis.

Adrian Edmonson (Eddie Monsoon/Hitler), and his wife is the Fairy Godmother from Shrek)) has billed himself as a "folk mandolin player". His band toured Brisbane, Queensland Australia one time, and a girl I know, lead singer from Flangipannies (look em' up), asked old Vyvyan to sign her boob (I think she was planning a tattoo) and he said something like "no, I'll need a bigger felt-tip"

It used to be a gag of one of the Dutch radiodj's to play Living Doll during a christmas special yearly fundraiser event (Het Glazen Huis).
The amount of money that had to be collected before he would do the song Living Doll and lipsync it (since the event was televized) grew every year to the point it was beyond ridiculous. Almost as if it was a dare to the Dutch people like "yeah you won't be able to raise that much for one lousy song nor that crazy."
Year after year we proved him wrong.

Okay, let me summarise, You like Dutch related stuff, you like entertainment, and even Comedy now, I would recommend John Fealey, British comedian, who explains some Dutch facts in his comedy act to a Dutch audience, it is dated but still funny. If you are Dutch you will recognise it straith away. If you are from abroad, you will laugh your *ss off. I had personally the pleasure to meet him in Scheveningen with a Tastycomedy concept where he explained how we use the word "Lekker" all the time (for food, for nice looking people, for expressing our vibes and a lot of other expleanations) It was brilliant, a shame not too much made the internet. He came too early, in these times he could have made good money with this comedy.

I do like how Cliff Richard was having trouble keeping a straight face throughout the song. You might also have gotten a bit more out of it if you had seen any of the Young Ones tv show the other characters were from. At least their antics may have made more sense for you.

Seen completely out of context, you need to see the Young ones comedy series, the original chart hit, then understand that this is a mix for charity, this was being preformed at the charity gig, but best viewing the music video
