And this is the reason why IGN should play through the games before they review it. The game explains in detail so many things of the XCOM lore, simply you just need to listen and read through the interesting bits of the story. Also there is 7 endings and all explains quite well what happens before XCOM. 12 hours of fun was this game for me.
probably the best story ever told in a video game the ending just gets crazy with the revelation of you know what, and then you choose you know what, and then you storm the you know what is space, amazing. No spoilers in this comment!
Fili-Bard Productions And a lot of little details were put into this game to make it resemble Early 1960's America. I mean they put some work into the game environment and that part was pretty much overlooked by the moron in this review... Also not surprisingly game reviews now days just spit out what the masses want to see and hear but a lot of games (including the bureau) are downsized and not reviewed the way they should be.
Its in my top 10 list of video games I have ever had the joy of playing. I do enjoy games set in the past particularly set in America's last good generation (1940's thru early 1960's). a little nostalgic you could say but anyway I do think that 2k did an amazing job and this game (and other under rated games) should be appreciated more than they actually are.
Am I the only one who enjoyed the game. I found the ending pretty hard. The characters were mostly likable. The combat was fun, but I havent play a Mass Effect games yet. I would give this a 7.5 overall.
WOWOWOW. The stuff at 1:15 can be explained. Both of them were already apart of the Bureau and if you go into the research lab they were already working on the laser turret and that some field agents were testing them. Also if you do a base side quest youll find they are learning new ways to control them. Also the story is many years before the eu xcom. theres still alot that can happen between the two.
I played this game and it's great. Some people may not like it but theres this trend of "nickleback" esk hate thats going around. IGN said a game is bad so everyone tells people its bad. Its not the best shooter I've every played but it was cool to kill aliens and not faceless Russians or south Africans like some other shooters
No this game isn't good and it has nothing to do with IGN it has great framework for what would've been a great or fantastic game but they dropped the ball
The oddest thing about this game is that the artwork on some copies has half the cover blacked out with black marker and the rest don't. I don't know what is the difference.
This guy doesn’t sound like he’s actually played the game. In the opening credits of the game it tells you October 1962. Not the 1950s! The game specifically chose that year because of the Cuban Missile Crisis. The beta version of this game took place in the 1950s, but they wanted a more tense time in history with what was going on in the game. So the final game takes place 1962-1963. I’m amazed how little they prepare for these “reviews”, but they again ign were always known for being pretty terrible at giving reviews. I’ll give this guy credit though, he does seem somewhat interested in the game. The atmosphere and soundtrack of this game is one of the greatest. Extremely underrated game.
I have played this game and honestly I can’t judge it based on the other xcom games because I have never played the others but the setting and feel of the game reminds me of resistance 2
"When the story implodes it's left with nothing but descent tactical combat" So the story accounts for almost 50% worth of the game? Wow this review is biased as fuck.
I have been playing it. It is fun and great. Sure it may not be game of the year, but it is a nice change. Normally, on these third person games the secondary characters are just thrown away characters - in here they feel more like a part of the mission and you need to make sure to keep them alive. I will agree, the lore of this game seems to contradict other XCOM games but it mentions, so maybe its a different universe? The aliens may be not from a different galaxy but dimension attackers?
"Perhaps a certain amount of translation is necessary when re-introducing popular tactical games from the nineties. So what you do is to trim off the fatty bits, and roll the difficulty back. And the result is the very absorbing XCOM: Enemy Unknown. What you do NOT do is to slap the name on a fucking shooter!" - Zero Punctuation With that in mind, I think we all know what he's gonna think of XCOM Declassified...
He said the tactical playing was the only thing that WORKED... none of the complaints had anything to do with how it played being run and gun or tactical...
Exactly, people. The guy who reviewed Black Ops 2 isn't the same guy who reviewed this game. You know, for a second I thought you were implying that the reviewers at IGN all shared the same opinions, but that would have been crazy.
thats it, from now on, whenever an embargo doesnt lift ahead of the day or two before launch, its good to worry about the game. Amazing games always let reviews go up early
You say that as if the XCOM series has become a third person shooter franchise, which is equivalent to calling the Halo franchise a strategy game series because of Halo Wars.
this game is a masterpiece i just wish it had a higher difficulty above the highest one cos your team gets too overpowered after awhile even on the highest difficulty. DLC? please?
Oh i played it now the last two evenings. It is a good game. I bought it at the steam summer sale. I can follow the reviewer here. Bad review in my opinion.
I agree zolby the graphics were alright, almost leaning toward good, even though they were right about the research part the gameplay was an 9/10,and yes I've played mass effect ,skills wise they were usefully and inventive the only thing I can disagree with you about is the rating, it deserves a 7.5/10
except for the fact hes talking about the 2 xcom games working together when throughout development and talks throughout the game, they said it was going to be completely separate because this was being made before Xcom enemy unknown was even announced they are 2 seperate universes in a sense, and this guy should have done some research into that before stating it as an issue
At least we'll get new Xcom strategy game down the line. I thought this "fps" version looked better when they first showed it off, the old video that they showed where they assaulted a gas station with aliens, that looked far better then what I see here.
when i 1st heard about The Bureau: XCOM Declassified i was expecting an open world something like L.A. Noire and Mafia 2 but with aliens but instead its a CoD clone
This is in the humble bundle at the moment for like 7 bucks with a few other games AND you're giving to charity making those cheetos fueled nights easier to enjoy
Remember when XCOM: Enemy Unknown came out last year and was a top down strategy game? Remember that this was a spin-off title. If it had the same gameplay, what's the point?
The final score doesn't make any sense. If it has decent combat, it means it's fun, if it's fun it means a better score. A game has to have fun gameplay, even if the story is bad or flawed, and obviously it does have good gameplay, also flawed but non the less good and fun
Glad I’m not the only guy in the world who liked this game, loved the retro 50’s style.
I’m interested in it too 😊
Underrated game.
And this is the reason why IGN should play through the games before they review it. From the producer of Bioshock, "The Bureau" has the same setting 50s. i love it!
+ Story Twitst
- Nonsense Story
Gerard Riera thats ign for you
So it's a shamalayan of games
kingdom hearts
The story is just amazing. It is a bit glitchy, but hey they focused on the story. I loved it.
probably the best story ever told in a video game the ending just gets crazy with the revelation of you know what, and then you choose you know what, and then you storm the you know what is space, amazing. No spoilers in this comment!
Ryu BLADE Love the comment. xDD

john jones Exactly. That's all people do. Giving reviews to games that depends on the masses. I loved it. Playing it again for the second time!

If the game is considered out of the context of the Xcom series It deserves an 7-8/10 for the atmosphere, story and some of the gameplay.
Humble Bundle brought me here.
Me too, although the reviews have turned me off installing it!
Which is a shame; I enjoy the XCOM strategy franchise.
Pedro Sousa cool
Lmao it's free for 48 hours now
6969 basically , yeah 😂
Pedro Sousa I'm happy I spend 60 on this game and got it for free on humble bundle
strange, i found this game really good. i would give it a 8.0 out of 10
WOWOWOW. The stuff at 1:15 can be explained. Humble Bundle brought me here... a year later.
Eddie Nunez Me too , FREE GAMES ! :D
I played this game and it's great. Some people may not like it but theres this trend of "nickleback" esk hate thats going around. IGN said a game is bad so everyone tells people its bad. This game is awesome, it brings me so good feelings when I play it. And I don't now why.
3:45 Garrus is that you?
your username made me giggle
I noticed that to, same voice actor which is very cool
kobe burgose Brandon Keener still doing a damn fine job, huh?
Damn this game looked soooo good
yea know what you mean
I was hoping for LA Noire with the 1950s Roswell UFOs vibe.
Got it on sale for 3 bucks. What a fun game.
Did you buy it on steam?
What crazy scene is he talking about? “Seen to be believed”
The oddest thing about this game is that the artwork on some copies has half the cover blacked out with black marker and the rest don't. I don't know what is the difference.
I just purchased this at GameStop for $0.97 cents.
+ACNetwork Not sure, played a few minutes. Looks like a FPS.
i saw gamplay for this awhile ago, wasn't it going to be a fps though?
I loved this game, an easy 8+ /10. IGN, just have a little fun, not graphics and all that nonsence.
Very solid game. The best game I ever bought for a fiver.
IGN don't know how to do reviews right.
Can't see find review from GT on this game yet. Perhaps you're referring to the preview?
they actually did explain the "good blob" if you read all the papers and listen to audio logs on the base

I really do love the aesthetic in The Bureau. Awkward lip-synching and oopsie-daisies galore, but the art direction is good stuff.
its great how this doesnt matter and im still buying it, doesnt phase at all, reminds me of the review for double dragon neon
1:53 Can somebody tell me what moment this is? I'm really curious to know but I have no interest in playing the game :P
just look at this xcom.wikia.com/wiki/Sleepwalker_(The_Bureau:_XCOM_Declassified) the man sitting there is a sleepwalker.
Thanks :D
Agora que vi o BR no nick kkkk
hu3hu3 kkkkk
what is the plot twist?
Is this game any good? Honest opinions please
Is it out
it not that bad of a game its fun to play thats what counts
I have played this game and honestly I can’t judge it based on the other xcom games because I have never played the others but the setting and feel of the game reminds me of resistance 2
So you played it and beat it already?
got it new for £5 its dame fun under 6/10 did this guy play it? id give it 8/10 fun game and i do not play many games like it now might start
review was a bit harsh. graphics are insanely good for the time. i wonder if the ps3 or xbox360 version look as good
I bought this game for 64 ruppes that's less than a dollar and for that price it's a steel
Combat system of mass effect & this game is same....love it
far better graphics then most games from 2013 like injustice
Wait cod has tactics and its third person?
..and still has better storytelling than a Resident Evil remake, of course that won't stop IGN from trolling Days Gone as well.
so a generic 3rd person shooter with a linear story and some alien tech, sounds like something i'd enjoy! $2 on PSN
is it worth $5 on amazon for pc?
I'd say it is. It isn't a great game, of course, but it is good. Average at worst.
Yea I got it and so far I really like it Arkham Creed
try the bundle on humblebundle.com
I got it for 5 bucks and I say yea
"When the story implodes it's left with nothing but descent tactical combat"
So the story accounts for almost 50% worth of the game? Wow this review is biased as fuck.
the clint eastwood depiction used in the zero punctuation was actually pretty acurate
Remember when XCOM was a STRATEGY game, and not just another third-person shooter?
They actually explain why you can use alien technology right of the bat. It is that tech wrist thing that lets you use alien technology.
its on sale for 3 dollars is it worth it?
I'd say go for it, especially for 3 bucks
Definitely worth $3
I have been playing it. It is fun and great. Sure it may not be game of the year, but it is a nice change. Normally, on these third person games the secondary characters are just thrown away characters - in here they feel more like a part of the mission and you need to make sure to keep them alive. It still is. This is just a 3rd person shooter spin-off called the Bureau. XCOM is getting an expansion in november.
The Humble Bundle brought me here XD,Anybody have same thing?
Finished this game today I must say it’s not the worst game I have played.
"Perhaps a certain amount of translation is necessary when re-introducing popular tactical games from the nineties. So what you do is to trim off the fatty bits, and roll the difficulty back. With that in mind, I think we all know what he's gonna think of XCOM Declassified...
I got it for free cuz Humble bundle is amazing
So story is both a positive and negative?
But this is 1962 unfortunately they were going to release one I the 1950’s but then they couldn’t and rebooted it sadly 🇬🇧
steam sale 75% off.
If you want it, now it the time.
Is it that bad? It doesn't seen so
wasnt there going to be a FPS Xcom? what happened to that it looked really kewl
Yes, what do you dont understand?
When it was first announced it looked so sick! If only it stuck to that first person, horror-filled formula
What really sucks is that it was meant to originally be an FPS, which made the tone more spooky and real. And they just ditched it. -_-
He said the tactical playing was the only thing that WORKED... none of the complaints had anything to do with how it played being run and gun or tactical...
did this game really play out that bad - 5.5 ?
2k should've stuck with teh Enemy Unknown format. At least in that one, the alien weapons were actually helpful.
This game isn't generic, it's a lot more original than most
when you say "we" do you mean "I" cause we had different opinions?
Tbf. I loved this game. Just as a strategy shooter. Would defo play again and again
Exactly, people. The guy who reviewed Black Ops 2 isn't the same guy who reviewed this game. You know, for a second I thought you were implying that the reviewers at IGN all shared the same opinions, but that would have been crazy.
i have noticed all the problems is coming from the fact that it was rebooted so many times.
just got the game yesterday and playied it for 4 hours its a great game so far rate it a 7.8
Thank god the newly announced XCOM: Enemy Within is maintaining its original roots.
Fuck shooters.
Got it for free at Humble bundle but now I dont think Ill install it, I thought it was the RTS type xcom game not a 3rd person shooter.
you stole a comment from the ign written review, didn't you?
thats it, from now on, whenever an embargo doesnt lift ahead of the day or two before launch, its good to worry about the game. Amazing games always let reviews go up early
You say that as if the XCOM series has become a third person shooter franchise, which is equivalent to calling the Halo franchise a strategy game series because of Halo Wars.
Then why do you keep watching them?

Oh i played it now the last two evenings. It is a good game. I bought it at the steam summer sale. I can follow the reviewer here. Bad review in my opinion.
Jörn Dinkla yeah, ign are crap at reviews.
This game had so much potential but they had to fuck it up, R.I.P. the XCOM shooter that could have been
I agree zolby the graphics were alright, almost leaning toward good, even though they were right about the research part the gameplay was an 9/10,and yes I've played mass effect ,skills wise they were usefully and inventive the only thing I can disagree with you about is the rating, it deserves a 7.5/10
I give game 9/10 for strategy rare game play this kind of games awesome love xcom keep going :)
Yeah, i remember. They released that STRATEGY game last year :D
Spoony was right all along
Oh he's pretty big XCOM fan, he will tear this apart.
except for the fact hes talking about the 2 xcom games working together when throughout development and talks throughout the game, they said it was going to be completely separate because this was being made before Xcom enemy unknown was even announced
they are 2 seperate universes in a sense, and this guy should have done some research into that before stating it as an issue
Its a pretty good game. Lots of action and strategizing envoled. I would give it a 7.5 at least
In many ways, that is one of the problems. He poked holes in the story and progression instead of things that mattered like the gameplay
Isn't fair to say that after the game getting scrapped and re-worked a bazillion times, that they put together a decent project?
At least we'll get new Xcom strategy game down the line.
I thought this "fps" version looked better when they first showed it off, the old video that they showed where they assaulted a gas station with aliens, that looked far better then what I see here.
Don't worry the Xcom enemy unknown sequel we want will come
when i 1st heard about The Bureau: XCOM Declassified i was expecting an open world something like L.A. Noire and Mafia 2 but with aliens but instead its a CoD clone
This is in the humble bundle at the moment for like 7 bucks with a few other games AND you're giving to charity making those cheetos fueled nights easier to enjoy
Jason Schrier sent me here
Remember when XCOM: Enemy Unknown came out last year and was a top down strategy game?
Remember that this was a spin-off title. If it had the same gameplay, what's the point?
Alien Isolation got a 5.9.... IT GOT A SCORE ALMOST AS BAD AS THIS PIECE OF SHIT
Haha, exactly
I was really looking forward to this game, they had a lot of hype leading up to its release.
The final score doesn't make any sense. If it has decent combat, it means it's fun, if it's fun it means a better score. A game has to have fun gameplay, even if the story is bad or flawed, and obviously it does have good gameplay, also flawed but non the less good and fun
OMG why reviewrs hate so much this game. This is a very decent one...
This reminds me of mafia 2 looked bad but was an amazing open world shooter
